A general-purpose modpack designed with server longevity in mind, while still enabling access to interesting modded content. Created and maintained for the Dragon Claw Community official server, but made available for self-hosting with no compromise.

The main goal is to keep future Minecraft version compatibility in mind, to allow for easier server migration, and avoiding total world save loss. To do so, the focus is to maintain stability of the Overworld, to act as a "safe-haven" for your builds, items and general progress. Any added dimensions or biomes are treated as "experiences" you can go and explore, but it is up to your own discretion if you want to build there, or use the modded blocks and items in the Overworld.

Mods are carefully selected based on various criteria. Mods that add content would be the most troublesome if they stop receiving future updates, so here is a non-exhaustive list of the most common considerations:

✅ - The mod author/team is active.
✅ - There are no problematic mod compatibility issues known.
✅ - Minimal impact of sudden mod removal.
✅ - Added worldgen features primarily use vanilla blocks.
✅ - No biomes added to Overworld.
✅ - The features add value to the experience.
✅ - The mod compliments the vanilla experience/progression, rather than replaces.
✅ - There is a community demand for the mods inclusion.

A lot of time and effort has gone into configuring the various mods. As an overview, you can expect the following experience from this modpack:

Notes:

This is something I had been wanting to do for a while, and finally got around to, with this update, Immersive Engineering is now in the modpack as an extension (or alternative) to Create, and other mod features.

To reduce the impact on the Overworld, all ore generation has been disabled from Immersive Engineering, and instead, a datapack has been made, which makes the ores spawn in the Nether instead. The ore distribution is comparable to the Overworld, but "scaled", to better fit the Nether with its reduced build height, as well as the vast amount of empty space and lava. To complement this change, there is also a custom-made resourcepack, which retextures the Immersive Engineering ores, so their background is netherrack, instead of stone - this makes the ores blend in with the Nether environment better. The ores can also replace a good amount of the primary blocks, such as netherrack, but also soul sand, basalt and many more. You can look into the datapack to find the tags I made, and even edit the values to your liking, make extensions etc., it should be rather self-explanatory. On top of this, there are also custom Create-related recipes and processes you can use to get the various Immersive Engineering ores, using the mechanical extruder and some crushing recipes.

IMPORTANT!!! - Make sure you add the "ZZZ_dragons worldgen tweaks.zip" datapack to your world save, if you have an ongoing world, as otherwise, the ores will not spawn.

I am also adding Create: Diesel Generators, which uses a clever oil deposit mechanic, which can also generate retroactively. Since the "oil deposits" are more like a virtual invisible layer in the world, it shouldn't cause any issues with it existing in the Overworld.

With these additions, there are now many more ways to transfer power between locations, as well as other ways to make power as well.

Also had to go back on switching to REI again, because it still doesn't show modded recipe processes, which I forgot to test in the last update.

Another major switch, is going to be sophisticated backpacks and sophisticated storage. For now, it will co-exist with expanded storage, packed up and storage drawers - but the plan is to remove those storage mods entirely in a future version, so make sure to replace your storage solutions for your builds and character.

This change is multifactored, but the main reasons are that sophisticated storage combines what expanded storage and storage drawers does, into a single mod. Both sophisticated backpacks and storage have good compatibility with Create, and there is even a bit of extra functionality for Chipped for the storage.

Updated mods and re-introduced Steam 'n' Rails now that it has had some time to update. Replaced some performance mods in order to address some issues with the flywheel compat mod not rendering things correctly, at the cost of limiting the available shaders. The default configs for BSL and Complimentary have been included for this change, and the old config files are also still there.

A fix to our custom dirt recipe for create, so you can use the stamping machine on coarse dirt, but still make path blocks out of the other dirt variants.

Removed the "I" keybind from aether, as it conflicts with the Create Stock Ticker.

Reintroduced REI, as it works with custom crafting procedures again.

  • dragons_create_tweaks - added recipe override for pressing recipes for path blocks, as it was conflicting for coarse dirt with our custom pressing recipe to press coarse dirt into regular dirt, and was randomly making paths instead. You can still make path blocks using the other dirt variants.
  • dragons_packedup_tweaks - adjusted recipes to make copper backpack available earlier, and introduce a better progression sense.

Notes:

Discovered that Quickbench breaks polymorph alt recipe selector, so it has to go for now. REI also has a current issue with showing any modded crafting process recipes, making it pretty useless, so temporarily switching it out for JEI, at the cost of not having collapsible groups - until REI gets fixed.

Not having Quickbench will make hand-crafting rather unresponsive, but you can try FastWorkbench along with FastSuite from Curseforge as manual additions/fixes, until Quickbench/Ploymorph fixes the bug. I cannot include it in this pack legally due to licensing, otherwise I would just do that.

Notes:

Mainly addressing a major issue that was discovered regarding crafting of any Every Compat (Wood Good) and (Stone Zone) not working. It took a while to narrow down, but it seems to be fixed by the removal of Very Many Players, which is an optimization mod that hasn't been updated in 2 years. As a result, VMP is being removed. Also updated a few mods while at it. I played around with Create 6.0, but there are currently too many mods that depend on Create, that themselves need updating first. I will try again at a later point in time.

Notes:

Server installs and updates do not seem able to utilize the "defaultoptions" configs, so moving forward, the contents of the folder will be present in the config folder itself as well. Hopefully, this should also make it clearer which configs are changed, and may need manual overrides. Since you already have to make manual backups each update with ATlauncher anyway, I don't see this as a major problem. I will keep maintaining the "defaultoptions" setup however, as it makes testing easier, and can be used as your backup, in case you want to revert some configs.

TPA+ delay has been adjusted, so the delay triggers after a command is executed instead. The old config would trigger the cooldown, regardless of whether you teleported or not.

Modified some default player settings for Open Parties and Claims, so that villagers will behave as expected, without the need to first allow it. You can also interact with the enchanting table by default.

The Ender Dragon will now drop 1 elytra to the player who does the final hit. Previously, I had been trying out a datapack that would modify the loot table, but this solution would override loot added by mods. This solution is good enough. Since flying machines are also modded into the game, getting an elytra to help exploring the vastly expanded End dimension only seems reasonable. Finding an elytra in an End City, is still possible, but just much harder due to the additonal biomes etc.

Heracles has been added as a quest system, to be used in the future as a way to gain information about the features of the modpack. Currently, there are no quests.
