Spell Engine Extension (RPG Series Tweaks)

This is an extension to the Spell Engine mod by Daedelus. On its own it changes nothing in the game, but mod and data pack authors have more possibilities when designing spells.

Features include:

  • Limiting casting with individual items depending on the hand they are held in
  • Health cost for spells
  • Mana cost for spells (using Mana Attributes)
  • Stamina cost for spells (using Stamina Attributes)
  • 3 generic spell schools (melee, ranged and magic)
  • 9 entity attributes that customize cast spells (eg. projectile count, bounce amount, etc.)
  • various config options to customize the spell hotbar
  • and a few more little (and optional) tweaks

  • now works with Spell Engine 1.9.9

Changes

  • removed the server config option to disable the auto swap feature (this feature was removed from Spell Engine)
  • spell modifiers can now remove the "custom_effect_cost" of a spell, if the "replaced_effect_cost_id" field is set to an empty string.
  • re-enabled the "replaced_decrement_effect_cost_amount" Spell.Modifier field. It's default is now -2, which means the modifier is ignored. Values of -1 and above replace the "decrement_effect_cost_amount" of the modified spell. If multiple modifiers are applied, only the last one counts.

Fixes

  • fixed issues with some spell hotbar display options
  • fixed an issue where the built-in compat data pack for the RPG Series mods did not recognise staff/wand weapon skills

  • tweaked some default values of the client config
  • changed "spellengineextension:provide_spells" enchantment effect to apply different spell lists depending on the enchantment level. If the level is higher than the amount of lists defined, the last list is used.

  • added server config options to individually toggle position and orientation locking for movement locking spell casting.
  • added client config option 'should_spell_hotbar_use_key_replace_first_number_slot'. If set to 'false' all 9 number slots of the spell hotbar are used, even if the 'use key' slot is also used.

Technical

  • made huge progress in making the mod easier to maintain. Thanks to new events added by Spell Engine, several mixins could be removed. Other mixins were modernized to be much more robust.
