Youkai's Homecoming — Unofficial 1.21.1 NeoForge Port
An unofficial port of Youkai's Homecoming by lcy0x1, bringing essentially all 1.20.1 content to Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge.
Ported by yinyuze with permission from the original author. Source code, license, and all original design credit belong to lcy0x1 and the upstream contributors.

What This Port Brings to 1.21.1
This port migrates the majority of 1.20.1 content into the 1.21.1 NeoForge ecosystem. Below is a feature overview.
🍱 Food & Cooking System
A complete Touhou-themed culinary system, fully ported and JEI-integrated:
- Cooking Pots — Small Iron Pot, Short Iron Pot, Stockpot (3 sizes)
- Cuisine Board — sushi, rolls, and assembled dishes
- Wood Basin — stomping recipes for batch processing
- Steamer Pot + Rack + Lid — stackable steam-cooking
- Sauce Rack, Ingredient Rack, Wine Shelf — decorative storage
- Moka Pot, Kettle, Fermentation Barrel, Drying Rack — coffee, tea, fermented drinks, dried goods
- Cutting Board recipes — over 25 custom cuts (sushi prep, ingredient processing, etc.)

Full AI behavior, trading systems, and quest mechanics:
- Reimu Hakurei — donation box summoning, feeding quest for her hairband, anger response when villagers are harmed
- Cirno — fairy AI, frog hunting (drops Frozen Frogs), trading, freezing danmaku
- Rumia — flesh-feeding mechanics, charged attack mode, drops hairband on Ex defeat
- Reputation system with character-specific responses
- Donation Box — drop emeralds/gold to summon Reimu

- Circle / Ball / Mentos / Bubble / Butterfly / Spark / Star bullet types
- 16 dye colors
- Upgrade recipes: 4 Ball danmaku → 1 Bubble danmaku; 4 Spark danmaku → 1 Star danmaku (per color)
- Lasers and laser pencils with upgrade paths
- Hat-based no-consumption support: matching-color danmaku doesn't deplete when wearing the right hat
- Damage type modifications (Reimu hairband → abyssal; etc.)

- Youkaifying / Youkaified progression (eat flesh → become half-youkai → full youkai)
- Flesh & Cooked Flesh — drops from human-type mobs killed with knife under youkai effects
- Blood Bottle — same mechanic but requires offhand glass bottle

🌍 World Generation
- Hakurei Shrine — generates in cherry biomes
- Cirno's Nest — generates in snowy biomes
- Youkai Nest — generates in dark forests
- Sakura Forest / Sakura Birch Forest / Sakura Taiga — three custom biomes
- Crops & wild plants — Soybean, Red Bean, Tea, Coffea, Cucumber, Black/Red/White Grape, Mandrake Root, Udumbara
- Mobs — Boar (forest), Deer (forest, balanced spawn rate), Lamprey (water), Crab (river)
- Loot modifiers — Udumbara appears in Ancient City chests; Crab can be fished from rivers; Lamprey from any water
🏆 Advancements
20+ original advancements ported, including the Feed Reimu challenge (feed Reimu every non-meat food in the mod to obtain her hairband).
🔗 Curios Integration (Soft Dependency)
Curios is fully optional. The mod runs without it, but if Curios API is installed, every hat and hairband gains a Curios capability automatically:
- ✅ Wear hats/hairbands in any Curios slot in addition to the vanilla head slot
- ✅ All hat mechanics check both the vanilla head slot and all Curios slots — wearing Rumia's hairband in a Curios necklace slot still drops mob heads on kill
- ✅ Multi-hat stacking: if you have multiple Curios slots, wearing multiple hats of different colors stacks the danmaku no-consumption support across colors
- ✅ Custom loot conditions correctly read Curios-equipped items (e.g., Rumia's head-drop loot modifier)
🧩 Mod Compatibility
- Lithium (NeoForge) — Compatible. The frog AI mixin uses
@ModifyReturnValueso Suwako-hat frogs still attack pillagers even with Lithium'sfrog_attackablesoptimization active. - Kaleidoscope (Cookery) — Compatible. Cooking-pot and cutting-board recipes are generated under the
youkaishomecomingnamespace (rather thanfarmersdelight) to prevent silent overrides. - Farmer's Delight — Required. Cooking pot and cutting board recipe types come from here.
- JEI — Optional. All custom recipe categories registered (Cuisine, Pot Cooking, Basin, Steamer, etc.).
- Jade — Optional. Tooltips on cooking pots, kettles, fermentation barrels.

- Added configurable attribute modifiers for the Youkaified effect: max health bonus (default +20 flat), attack damage bonus (default +50% on base), and movement speed bonus (default +30% on total). All values update live without restarting the game.
- Added configurable attribute modifiers for the Fairy effect: max health, attack damage, movement speed, plus a new danmaku hitbox modifier (default -50%, makes the player harder to hit by danmaku while in the Fairy state). All values update live.
- Added a master switch for Curios slot support on this mod's hats, hairbands and accessories. When disabled, accessories are recognized only in vanilla equipment slots even if Curios is loaded.
- Added a configurable cooldown for the Koishi hat: how long the hat's continuous unconscious effect stays suppressed after being interrupted by an attack or opening a container (default 200 ticks; set to 0 to disable interruption).
- Backported missing configuration options from the 1.20.1 build and connected them to existing implementations:
exRumiaConversion,reimuSummonKill,reimuSummonMoney,reimuSummonCost,reimuHairbandFlightEnable. These options now actually take effect. - Reorganized server config groups: split the misplaced
rumiaHairbandDropout of thereimugroup into its ownrumiagroup, added a neweffect_modifiersgroup for the new attribute options, and added acompatgroup for the Curios master switch. - Added per-mob natural spawn toggles for Deer, Boar, Tuna, Crab and Lamprey under a new
natural_spawnconfig group. Disabling a toggle prevents only NATURAL / CHUNK_GENERATION / SPAWNER spawns; spawn eggs, commands and breeding still work. - Filled in Chinese translations for all configuration option titles and tooltips that were previously untranslated.

- Added Camellia accessory support: can be worn in the Curios head slot and renders on the player model. While worn, prevents Phantom from spawning on the wearer.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Sober effect failing to properly clear Youkaified and Youkaifying states.
- Fixed Diversity compatibility: crops now correctly trigger their associated advancements when harvested through Diversity's right-click harvest feature.
- Fixed two-tall coffea/tea crops being corrupted when right-click-harvested in multi-mod environments (Quark / FTB Ultimine): right-clicking either half now correctly drops fruit and resets growth without orphaning the upper half or wiping the crop.

- Added Civillis compatibility: Touhou characters are no longer affected by civilization flee mechanics or spawn suppression. Implemented via NeoForge event listener (removes injected flee goals) and Civillis datapack whitelist (bypasses spawn gate).
- Added Curios rendering support: hats and hairbands equipped in Curios head slot now render on the player model (previously only rendered in the armor helmet slot).
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Udumbara crop missing its age-6 harvest mechanic: right-clicking at ~80% growth now drops seeds, resets to age 2, and triggers the "udumbara_leaves" advancement (matching 1.20.1 behavior).
- Fixed 6 bamboo bowl food items (tutu congee, rice powder pork, kaguya hime and their raw variants) rendering as purple-black blocks when placed. Missing parent model files were restored.
- Fixed tarte_lune and red_velvet rendering as purple-black blocks: updated model parent paths from
farmersdelight:block/pietofarmersdelight:block/template_pie(renamed in Farmer's Delight 1.21). - Removed invalid stonecutting recipe: iron ingot → short iron pot.
- Removed conflicting moka pot recipe: coffee powder → americano (conflicted with espresso recipe). The espresso → americano recipe remains.

- Fixed a server-crashing infinite loop in FastProjectileAPI's collision detection:
IEntityCache.foreach()could enter an unbounded triple loop when a projectile had abnormal velocity, causing the server to hang indefinitely. Added section traversal bounds to cap iteration at a safe maximum. - Fixed abnormal projectile velocity causing runaway chunk scanning:
BaseProjectilenow validates velocity each tick, clampingNaN,Infinity, or vectors exceeding 100 blocks/tick to zero before computing collision. - Fixed progressive danmaku lag that worsened over time: bullets were performing collision checks against every other bullet in the same area, creating O(n²) scaling. Bullets now skip collision with other projectile entities since bullet-to-bullet hits have no gameplay effect. This eliminates the quadratic slowdown without reducing bullet count or visual density.

- Ported the danmaku battle (Spell Card Rules) system from 1.20.1: grazing builds power, and getting hit consumes bombs/lives with invulnerability frames instead of dealing direct damage, restoring the proper Spell Card duel experience.
- Added a power/lives/bombs HUD with a blinking invulnerability countdown, so players unfamiliar with Touhou mechanics can tell when they are temporarily safe and unable to fire.
- Made rice, cooked rice, and related cooking-pot recipe ingredients cross-mod compatible (e.g. with Kaleidoscope Cookery), so recipes now accept equivalent items from other mods.
