Sengoku Jidai Mod
A Japanese-themed mod that overhauls every aspect of the game into the world of Japanese history, culture, and mythology.
Обновлён 26 июня 2026 г. · опубликован 2 января 2026 г.

Sengoku Jidai is an immensely detailed mod I've been working on for the last 2.5 years as a side hobby that began as a Minecraft world for a Japanese house I made, which turned into a Japanese City, which turned into a Resource Pack to match the city. Then I made a datapack to match the resource pack, and now I have this fully fledged mod, which takes the idea of retheming Minecraft to an all-new level. Altering every aspect of the game, including blocks, mobs, items, biomes, and structures, into the world of Japanese history, culture, and mythology. The amount of content added and changes cannot be summed up in a single paragraph, so I will try my best to list every feature I've added in this mod.
This is the official mod extension of this project. Link to the datapack this mod was made off of can be found here.

As I said, this began as an Optifine Resource Pack, and I've made the jump to Fabric a year ago, so I need everyone to download the following mods below for 1.21.1
If you are using Sodium, there will be a built-in resource pack in the settings called "For Sodium Users." Please use that. If certain textures are still bugged, you may need to download this mod.
If you want the cool skybox
These mods require these libraries
If youre trying to play with NeoForge using Sinytra
I'm sure a lot of you guys have some of these anyway, so hopefully it won't be that hard :)
Recommended but optional compatible mods

🌿 BIOMES
Overworld
Japan's natural landscape is mostly dominated by temperate forests and mountainous regions. Rather than just deleting vanilla biomes, each has been overhauled — for example, the Badlands have been reworked into an Autumnal Forest with rich warm colors replacing the red rock and sand. Biomes are divided by seasonal characteristics so transitions feel natural and cohesive.
🌸 Verdant Season
Plains · Forest · Sakura Grove · Shibazakura Plains · Meadows · Tall Grass Fields · Subtropical Forest · Dark Forest · Flower Forest · Birch Forest · Surprise Lily Fields · Hotsprings · Bamboo Forest · Swamp · Kerria Fields
🍂 Autumnal Season
Autumnal Plains · Autumnal Forest · Autumnal Dark Forest · Autumnal Grass Fields · Autumnal Hot Springs · Rose Fields · Marshlands · Bloodgood Forest · Taiga · Golden Forest · Ginkgo Grove · Maple Grove · Old Growth Pine Taiga · Old Growth Spruce Taiga
❄️ Wintry Season
Snowy Plains · Snowy Taiga · Spider Lily Fields · Windswept Hills · Windswept Forest · Snowy Bamboo Forest · Snowy Hot Springs · Snowy Forest · Snowy Dark Forest
⛰️ Mountain Biomes
Snowy Slopes · Volcanic Peaks · Frozen Peaks · Jagged Peaks
🪨 Cave Biomes

- Caverns — A blend of Dripstone and Lush Caves with grassy floors, large mushrooms, and stone lanterns. Serves as the main cave biome for Verdant regions.

- Dripstone Caves — Heavily reworked to resemble Akiyoshidō. Features a limestone theme, luminous green pools, and new limestone ore variants styled after Deepslate. Serves as the main cave biome for Autumnal regions.

- Suisho Caves — Inspired by the ice caves of Narusawa. Filled with glowing Suisho Crystal clusters and packed ice stalactites. Serves as the main cave biome for Wintry regions.

🌊 Misc
- Burnt Plains

- Aomori Isles

Yomi (The Nether)
"When the creator goddess Izanami gave birth to Kagutsuchi, the kami of fire. Her husband, Izanagi, fueled by grief, marched down to retrieve her in Yomi, the land of the dead. The place where all who die make home."
Yomi replaces the Nether. The flaming hot visuals have been swapped for a cold blueish-green palette to better embody the world of darkness. Home to many yokai and the lost souls known as Shiryō, who trade valuable Yomi artifacts along the Sanzu River.
NOTE FOR SHADER USERS: You may have to configure your shaders to gain this misty blue color palette.
Sanzu River · Soul of Kagutsuchi · Wisteria Grove · Weeping Forest · Soul Sand Valley
Ryūgū-jō (The End)
"Ryūgū is a fantastical palace that appears in many legends and folktales. It is the primary residence of the dragon god of the sea and his daughter Otohime, and is home to the ocean's royal court." — Yokai.com
Ryūgū-jō replaces the End, and the Ender Dragon has been replaced with the great Sea Dragon, Ryūjin. The void of the End has been flooded with a vast ocean filled with coral and ocean life.
NOTE FOR SHADER USERS: I don't recommend shaders for this dimension — most shader packs cater to the vanilla End and often block out the skybox.
Ryūgū-jō · Ryūgū-jō Shore · Ryūgū-jō Highlands · Ryūgū-jō Ocean · Ryūgū-jō Reef

🥷 COMBAT SYSTEMS
Stealth System

- Enemies will not detect players they aren't facing unless noise is made or the player gets too close. A "!" indicator appears above a mob's head when it detects you.
- Attacking an unsuspecting enemy triggers a critical strike. Using a Tanto will insta-kill most mobs.
- Concealing yourself in foliage reduces detection range significantly.
- Tall Grass reduces detection to 1 block.
- Short Grass reduces it to 5 blocks.
- All Smoke Bombs (splash potions) grant a brief invisibility buff. Armor is no longer rendered while invisible, and mobs immediately lose track of you.
Parry and Posture System

- Blocking with your weapon (right-click) is back and functional for Katanas, Axes, and all modded weapons.
- Blocking has distinct sounds and particles.
- Taking hits while blocking applies Posture damage. Posture breaks temporarily prevent blocking and regenerates over time.
- Certain weapons (Odachi, Tetsubo, Kanabo) deal bonus Posture damage.
- Samurai, Ronin, Umi Nyōbō, and Goryo also use this system.
🌄 MISC FEATURES
Onsen
Water near surface-level magma blocks emits mist particles. Idle players in the water receive a Saturation buff.
Moon Cycle Spawn System
Surface monster spawn rates scale with the moon phase. Spawn rates are at 0% on a Full Moon and rise to 100% on a New Moon (Blood Moon). Underground spawn rates are unaffected. Certain manually-triggered spawns like Oni Patrols and Kuchisake-Onna are exempt.
Dynamic Music System
The music system has been completely reworked with context-sensitive tracks for day/night, combat, underground depth, village and castle zones, and boss encounters. Credit to the orginal artists, all music tracks used can be found in this playlist.
Weather & Atmosphere
After rainfall, mist particles appear across the surface for a brief duration. A second set of fog particles is available but disabled by default — enable it via Mod Menu if you have the hardware for it. Particle counts are capped based on nearby entities to prevent frame drops.
Blood Particles
Added blood particles to combat.
Vanilla Changes
🪓 Tool Progression
Stone / Iron / Tamahagane Changes
The tool progression system has been reworked. Vanilla "Stone" tools are now functionally Iron, and vanilla "Iron" tools are now Tamahagane. The new order is: Wood → Iron → Tamahagane → and so on.
Upgrading to Tamahagane works like the Diamond-to-Netherite upgrade — you'll need a smithing template and a Tamahagane Ingot at a smithing table. To make a Tamahagane Ingot, gather Iron Sand from riverbeds with an Iron Shovel, smelt it into Raw Tamahagane, and combine it with Iron Ingots.

Compensations made for this change:
- Iron Ore can now be mined with a Wooden Pickaxe.
- More Raw Iron is obtained per Iron Ore.
- Tamahagane Tools are significantly more durable than vanilla Iron tools.
🐑 Sheep / Wool
Wool Rework
Sheep have been removed from all biomes. In their place:
- String can be crafted from Ramie Fibre, which is grown from seeds found in ferns.
- The Grass Bed can be crafted from Reeds for a quick first-night solution without needing to farm.
- Mutton has been replaced with Squid Meat, which drops from Squid.
- Acquiring dyed wool is now more accessible via an adjusted crafting recipe.
📦 QoL and Other Changes
- Max item stack size increased to 99.
- Bottles, Bowls, and Potions are now stackable to 16.
- Bundle crafting recipe is available in 1.21.1.
- Restored explosion particles.
- Fence gate and trapdoor recipes output more per craft.
- Many villages have a Mending Librarian available without RNG interrogation.
- Tanegashima (Crossbow) now fires Musket Balls (Spectral Arrows) only. Emits smoke and a brief flash when fired. Gunshots are audible from far away.
- Tree Sap (Honeycomb) can drop from decaying leaves and is used to craft Urushi, alternative torches, and more.
- Reed Blocks (Hay Bales) can be crafted from all foliage and grass types for early roofing.
- Gunpowder now has a crafting recipe due to low Kodama Nezumi (Creeper) spawn rates.
- Several recipes have been adjusted. All available in the in-game Recipe Book.

Please refrain from asking the following questions:
- "Can you make this available to X version?"
- With the amount of updates Mojang rolls out and the workload it took to make this as a one-man dev, it is unlikely I will be expanding versions.
- "Can you port this to Bedrock?"
- No.
- "Can you make this compatible with X mod and/or with Neo Forge?"
- If its compatible it's compatible, I know there's a mod that lets you port Fabric mods to NeoForge, but if it doesn't work, then it doesn't work. I have no intention of testing some random mod with this one.
- "Can you add this next?"
- No
- "Pls pls make this part a standalone mod!"
- If I could do it, then someone else probably has.
These questions and pretty much any that riddle down to telling me to "do more". I think I did more than enough in terms of the content I've added for a free mod. Reminder, I'm doing this for me; this is a hobby. I'm also the only guy working on this.
I will gladly accept feedback and critiques for bugs or features that are in the mod/game. Got a comment about the QoL changes? The Iron/Tamahagane Changes? Performance issues? Let me know, but for the love of god, if you read this and try to sweet-talk me into a compliment paragraph that leads to a "pls bedrock" at the end, then don't bother. I find that very irritating and unhelpful.

2.1.3Релиз1.21.1 · 26 июня 2026 г.
🌊 New Mobs
Umi Inu (Sea Dog)
- Vicious sea predators with shark-like behavior
- Spawn in deep oceans and gnaw on boats
- Faster swimming speed than the player, but not faster than boats.
Ikuchi
- A giant eel that spawns very deep in the ocean.
- Massive health, barely faster than boats.
- Has a unique attack pattern that involves circling the player in between attacks, so the fight doesn't take place inside the eel's model.
- Made up of multiple entities similar to Omukade and Ryujin.
Umi-Bōzu (The actual one)
- Finally got around to adding the most iconic sea monster in Japanese folklore.
- Will emerge from the depths on calm nights and apply a huge slow debuff to your boat and attempt to sink it.
- Attacking Umi-Bōzu will break you free from the boat's slow debuff for a few seconds.
- Throwing a Barrel (Similar to Gold and Piglins) into the water will cause Umi-Bōzu to get completely distracted, allowing you a chance to escape.
- The current Umi-Bōzu (Retextured elder guardian) will be renamed to Uo-Bōzu and will remain as an in-lore variant of Umi-Bōzu, since it is still based on the depiction of Umi-Bōzu in the Bakemono no e series of artworks.
- I made all three of these mobs over an extended weekend, so if you feel like they're underdeveloped, don't worry, they will probably get some changes.
- Pls no suggestions, I need to add stuff on my own accord.
- Fan art suggestions are appreciated.
🦎 Mob Changes
- Umi Nyobu — More aggressive with attacks. Now spawn in Ryujin's Second Phase.
- Bandits — Slightly nerfed attack damage.
- Ronin — Will now "slowly aurafarm" walk towards you during patrols, giving you time to kill the savage bandits before facing them.
- Akugyo — Added the circling attack AI used for Ikuchi.
- Kojin and Ningyo — Much faster when in water.
Ryujin Rework
- Reworked boss fight in overall thematics.
- The music track (From Sekiro) has been properly organized into phase 1 and phase 2.
- Lighting and violent winds shake up the boss island during the second phase.
- Umi Nyubo will now spawn during Ryujin's second phase.
- Particles for the dragon's breath have been changed.
- Adjusted its movements so the pieces don't offset during vertical movements (most of the time).
⚔️ Combat Changes
- Added a vertical slash to the Yari to make it less boring.
- Adjusted and polished overall weapon combos.
🌿 New Biomes
Cave Biomes
- Caverns — A light mix of Dripstone Caves and Lush Caves. Features large mushrooms, grassy floors, stone lanterns, and sometimes trees. Serves as the main cave biome for Verdant Regions.
- Dripstone Caves (Reworked) — Heavily modified to mimic the caves in Akiyoshido. All Vanilla Red Sand blocks have been reworked into a limestone thematic, serving as the "base stone." Features luminous green pools that light up the caverns. New Limestone Variants for each Ore block in a similar style to Deepslate. Serves as the main cave biome for Autumnal Regions.
- Suisho Caves — Loosely based on the real-life "ice caves" in Narusawa. Features an immense amount of Suisho Crystal (Reworked Amethyst) clusters and stalactites which illuminate the caverns. Packed Ice Stalactites also appear in the higher areas. Serves as the main cave biome for Wintry Regions.
Surface Biomes
- Autumnal River — River but autumnal.
- Autumnal Beach — Beach but autumnal. This is just to keep water and foliage color consistent with neighboring biomes.
General Biome Changes
- The super-tall sugi trees now have a maximum height they can spawn at.
- Old Growth Pine Taiga has slightly shifted from the Autumnal category and more to the Verdant > Autumnal transition biome category. The overall biome itself is still the same.
- Removed the mud from Windswept Gravelly Hills and renamed the biome to Gravely Shores.
- Made the transitions between ocean biomes smoother and less abrupt.
🌍 World Gen Changes
- This may be another "you might want to start a new world" type update.
- Smoothened the mountains once again.
- Replaced the wacky terrain that normally spawns in vanilla windswept biomes with more natural mountains.
- Touch-ups to Ryugu features.
🏯 Structure Changes
New Structure: Bandit Camps
- I woke up one night and realized that the only dedicated structure the bandits have happened to be the largest castle in the game. Didn't make sense.
- Follows a similar style to current lesser samurai outposts, but much more rugged and has no castle.
- Serves as an early game version of Samurai Outposts without the consequence of getting an entire clan to hate you.
- Loot contains stolen village crops, sake, and maps leading to other villages.
Other Structure Changes
- Inari Shrines — Mobs that hunt foxes, such as wolves and bears, will now be repelled from this structure. Allowing the non-moving Foxes in the shrine to be completely protected.
- Lighthouses — Now has a dedicated loot table containing fermented water breathing sake, paper lanterns, and maps to villages and other structures.
- Swamp Huts — Also have their own randomized loot table, containing multiple variants of medicines.
- Boats — No longer spawn in Deep Oceans and just regular Oceans.
- Yomi Castles — Reduced Goryo spawning to reduce the FPS drops they cause.
- Loot Chest Placements — Most chest placements in each structure are now randomized to make things less repetitive and urge players who have seemingly memorized structures (such as myself) to explore other areas for chests.
🌕 Moon Cycle Feature
- Surface monster spawn rate is drastically changed depending on the moon phase.
- Full Moon monster spawn rates start at 0%.
- Spawn rates gradually increase to 100% at a Blood Moon (New Moon) and back to 0% when at a Full Moon.
- Certain mobs that are spawned manually like Oni Patrols, Omukade, and Kuchisake-Onna will still spawn.
- Underground mob spawn rate will remain the same.
- I know this game was made as a zombie survival game, but with the amount of tree canopies and dark spaces allowed monster spawns to linger even during the daytime. Besides, there's beauty in the Night, both in real life and in-game. And it's hard to bask in the nice nighttime ambience when you're constantly getting interrupted by combat music shifts and the Sekiro "spotted by enemy" sound effect. I needed some nighttime serenity that didn't require me to place torches everywhere, which would defeat the purpose.
- I'll probably make a config slider on this in the future, but with the amount of valid criticisms of mobs overspawning, I think this change will be viewed positively.
🎨 Block/Item Texture Changes
Red Sand Blocks (Reworked)
- Red Sandstone → Cobbled Limestone
- Smooth Red Sandstone → Limestone
- Red Sand → Graveled Limestone
- Cut Red Sandstone → Limestone Bricks
- Chiseled Red Sandstone → Chiseled Limestone
Other Texture Changes
- Amethyst Blocks and Shards — Budding Amethyst Blocks and Amethyst Shards now glow with emissive textures.
- All Purpur Blocks — Now reworked to Crystal Shingles. To be crafted from an excessive amount of Amethyst Blocks.
- Dripstone Blocks
- Stonecutter
- All Rails
- Green and Purple Wool (Linen) Block
- Horn Coral — Now teal instead of yellow.
- Sandstone Bricks
- All 'Chiseled' Blocks
- Shears
- Clock
- Heart of the Sea
- Glowstone Dust
🎵 Sounds
- Replaced Sarugami Sounds
- All combat music has been snipped and divided into many 60-second music clips, removing repetition.
- While the system usually revolves around 3 or more mobs being aggro to the player, larger mobs are now enough to trigger the music by themselves.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Fixed the bug that caused the exit portal after the dragon fight to not spawn.
- I think at least — this wasn't an easy bug to recreate, so I don't know if it 100% worked.
- Fixed bug that had Ryugu music playing during end credits.
- Fixed bug that caused Mist Weather to spread to other worlds when switching sessions.
- Fixed bug that prevented the End City achievement.
- Copper doors now use the vanilla hitbox instead of the sliding door hitbox.
- Fixed bug that prevented Shides from working.
⚠️ Known Issues
- Missing Subtitle translations
- Shinobi Lord Boss room not 100% spawning
- Abandoned Dojo coming in contact with the Abandoned Mineshaft and other underground structures.

2.1.2Релиз1.21.1 · 1 июня 2026 г.
Small update this month.
⚔️ Combat Adjustments
- Added a 'weak' parry variant along with the normal and perfect parries.
- Has its own sound
- Meant to make the current parry sound feel less repetitive.
- Enemies blocking will use this new sound if the blocked damage isn't above a certain threshold.
- Nerfed Yari attack speed.
🌍 World Gen Adjustments
- Distant road jigsaw pieces will NO LONGER generate above tree tops.
- Apparently, this was only a problem I faced, but it's fixed nevertheless.
- Lower elevated terrain (Swamps and sometimes Rivers) will no longer dig past Y=63 unless it's a body of water. This bug caused many terrain hiccups in swamps, where the loose, flowing bodies of water would flood themselves on 'over-lowered' terrain.
- If you are playing on a pre-existing world, I advise you to use the datapack "Sengoku Old Terrain Height" within the mod file in the "datapacks" folder. Because it will create irregularly heighted terrain on newer loaded chunks, and I don't want to ruin anyone's worlds.
🏘️ Villager AI
- I gave villagers proper survival instincts when it comes to fleeing hostile yokai. They will now try to run inside their homes, and if unable, they will run behind the nearest Iron Golem/Damajin for safety.
🌨️ Yuki-Onna
- Now has a much more secure spawn and only spawns around players who have the Diamond advancement.
💀 Shinobi Lord
- Shinobi Lord can now teleport towards the player.
- Shinobi Lord should no longer teleport to a spot that's a block between the player and him.
- Tuned up the Kunai Entity so it doesn't glitch upon deflecting.
🏯 Structures
Abandoned Dojo
- Adjusted things to ensure the boss room spawns
- No promises tho.
- Only spawns in biomes with thick forests.
Pagodas
- Added 2 new 'common' variants made of black pine and oak to make the others feel less repetitive.
Castles
- Kobayakawa and Satomi castle variants use their own building materials.
- Outside tents shouldn't spawn in mid-air now.
- Fixed some samurai mobs spawning in the wrong castles.
🌿 Biomes
- Added some new biome transition elements. Mainly for the Burnt Plains and Windswept Graveley Hills.
- Organized the biome tag system.
🔧 Misc Changes
- Hitotsume Nyudo and Sarugami now burn in the sun.
- Blocks that bleed onto other blocks with the Continuity Mod (Moss, Grass, Snow) are now cast a larger net in the blocks they bleed onto.
- Texture changes to:
- Redstone Lantern
- Glowstone
- Copper bulbs/doors/grates
- Yuki-Onna
- Added a debug command for me to make sure things are going smoothly.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Fixed Stutter lag caused by Yuki-Onna spawn workarounds.
- World features such as Lava Pools, Geodes, and Monster rooms now try to avoid most underground structures.
- Ronin Combat Music resetting too early.
- Added a 'sweet spot' when transitioning Y levels for Surface/Underground/DeepUnderground music so you're not constantly switching between tracks.
⚠️ Known Issues
- Still need to fix onsen particles coming up all the way to the surface from deep underground.
- Shinobi Lord Boss room not 100% spawning
- Abandoned Dojo coming in contact with the Abandoned Mineshaft and other underground structures.
- Double/Triple Shoji Door bugs and Sinatra.
- Dark Cedar Shikkui Pillars, Chiseled, and Bricks do not have Yomi textures.
- Superflat Worlds
- End Portal not spawning.

- Biome has more open area variants, so it's not too cluttered.
- Added more Wisteria Elements
- Bubble and Tube corals can be found at the shores
- Purple Wisteria Trees
- Hitokai are purple now too lmao

Overworld Pathways
- Overworld Pathways have been tuned up
- Won't spawn over steep cliffs or inside rivers.
- Foliage-heavy trees, such as bushes and the new sugi trees, will spawn a few blocks further from the pathways and all dirt paths in general.
- This should also remove a lot of clutter from forest village roads.

Mob Changes
- Maikubi Nerfs
- Goryo spawn nerfs.
- Gaki should no longer spawn near soul torches.
- Reduced Giant Salamander spawn rate in rivers.
Miscellaneous
- Divine Kaki (Enchanted Golden Apple) now uses its own textures
- Lily Pads now have biome-dependent colors.
- Approved a giant data center near the dying Great Salt Lake in Box Elder County, Utah.
- Magma blocks no longer spawn in underground rivers to prevent an overabundance of onsen mist.
- Removed Carp (Samon) from spawning in Oceans due to being a freshwater fish.
Texture Support
- Trashslot (Gui)
- Horseman (Gui and Copper Horn Item texture)
Language Support
- Vietnamese Language Support for the Sengoku Mod aspects. (Vanilla lang still needs a Vietnamese translation.)

2.1.0Бета1.21.1 · 6 мая 2026 г.
⚔️ Combat Overhaul
Perfect Parry
- Blocking an attack right on time now inflicts a perfect parry and will knock back the enemy a tiny bit and redirect some of the posture damage to them.
- Has its own sound (Also from Sekiro) and doubles the particles
- Breaking enemy poise should have much more of an effect.
- Posture damage stats are now visible on all weapons.
- Players now have a visible posture meter
- Samurai melee attack particles are now more on par and accurate to when theyre going to deal damage. So no more delays.
- You can now block from all directions
🔩 Iron/Tamahagane
- Raw Iron drop rate from Iron Ore has been nerfed.
- Iron Sand now exclusively spawns at the shoreline Y level, so you don't have to go scuba diving to get it.
- Tamahagane Upgrade Template now has 2 legitimate recipes fit for a smithing template
- One recipe is meant to be expensive and a onetime craft.
- The other is less expensive and outputs 2 Upgrade Templates, but requires the first Upgrade Template
- The Tamahagane Smithing Template now displays the ingredients and uses in the toolbar, similar to the vanilla Netherite Smithing Template.
🏘️ Villager Trading
- I've hacked into the epic mainframe of village trading and played around with their inventory stash to sell or buy my modded items.
- Farmers will now buy rice.
- Leatherworkers will sell tantos and shinobi cloth.
- Butchers have been renamed to 'Impures', an outcast class of people in feudal Japan who were looked down upon for their work of butchering and leatherworks
- They will be the new purchaser of Rotten Flesh instead of the Monks.
👻 New Mob: Shiryo
- The Shiryo is now its own registered mob instead of a renamed villager with a fixed inventory.
- They are transparent, similar to Goryo, and are immune to wither and fire effects.
- They sell and purchase numerous Yomi-related items.
🥷 Shinobi AI Rework
- They now spawn in patrols at night and stalk the player.
- They now have the melee combat system goal along with their ranged kunai attacks.
- They now drop Tattered Shinobi Cloth, which is used to craft the shinobi armor pieces.
💀 New Boss: Shinobi Lord
- A new mob meant to replace the current Shinobi Boss.
- Switches between melee attack goals and kunai throwing.
- Has a second phase.
- Drops the Ryoshin Upgrade Template on death.
🥋 Shinobi Armor Set
- The Shinobi Armor set is no longer obtained directly after killing the shinobi boss but instead must be crafted from the Ryoshin Upgrade Template, Tattered Shinobi Cloth, and Leather Armor pieces at the Smithing Table.
- The Shinobi Armor Set is no longer unbreakable.
🏯 New Structure: Abandoned Dojo
- A Hidden Shinobi Lair with multiple redstone puzzles, traps, and secret doors.
- Starts as a surface structure you can enter from, similar to Mineshafts
- May contain the reworked Shinobi Boss. I tried to make it guaranteed with lithostatic magic, but due to the structure being a surface/underground hybrid and the boss stage being huge, it's hard to ensure its spawn without messing with the rest of the structure.
⭐ Elite Mobs
The following mobs now have elite variants with new textures and will either spawn randomly or by hardcoded circumstances:
- Ronin
- Goryo
- Kobayakawa, Satomi, and Takeda Samurai
- Shinobi
- Outlaw Samurai
🏛️ Reworked Warlord Boss
- As you've seen in the video I posted, I've reworked the overall tone of this boss fight, including new music for both phases, new voice lines, and an overall stronger moveset.
- The Warlord will no longer drop the Blade of the Kensei or the Daimyo Armor sets on death. He will now drop the Seigun Smithing Template.
🗡️ Reworked Warlord-tier Gear
- Like the other Smithing Templates, you'll need to duplicate the Seigun Smithing Template in order to use it multiple times on your Diamond or Hi'hirokane Gear.
- Secondary ingredients will be the Broken Hilt and Armor pieces, which can be found in castle chests.
- Blade of the Kensei is no longer alone; the rest of the weapons will now get their own equivalent:
- Naginata of the Nobushi
- Kanabo of Otakemaru
- Tetsubo of the Hatamoto
- Odachi of the Shugodai
- Yari of the Taisho
- Tanto of Tamatori Hime
- Splitting Axe of Kintaro
- All including Hihirokane Upgrades
- If these inspire new suggestions for you guys, I suggest you keep them to yourselves.
🔥 Yomi/Nether
New Structure: Yomi Castle
- The Goryo have officially declared themselves an official samurai clan and have fortified their own castles in Yomi.
- They may feel a little bit empty at the moment compared to the other overworld structures, so pls be patient.
Bastion Remnants
- Since I used the current style of the Bastion Remnants for the new Yomi Castle structure, I've reworked the overall structure to be more rugged and feral, as if it were built by actual oni.
- Bastion Remnant Loot Chests will still be available in both structures.
General Yomi Changes
- Most Yomi Structures now follow the same spawn rules as Vanilla Nether Structures and will spawn along the terrain instead of a fixed Y level.
- Added and reworked numerous Yomi foliage and trees.
- Loot Tables for certain plant blocks have been changed in the Nether to prevent unwanted inventory buildups.
- Blocks such as Crafting Tables, Scaffoldings, Barrels, Looms, Bookshelves, Spruce Planks, and ALL Dark Cedar Materials have texture changes when placed in the Yomi Dimension instead of some cheap color overlay.
- This took a long time. Most Shoji Frame blocks consist of over 230 textures. Remember my suggestions policy.
- Removed the 'Lava Leak' features in all biomes save the Basalt Deltas/Soul of Kagusutchi
- I did this to prevent a lot of structures from burning up
🌿 Biomes
New Biome: Autumnal Bamboo Forest
- Bamboo Forest but yellow lol
Forest Biome Reworks
- I've been relearning how to make trees again and have made these really cool and super tall Sugi trees that I've fallen in love with. These groves will serve as variants within the Forest, Taiga, and Dark Forest biomes.
- I recommend installing Tree Harvester lol.
- The Forest Biome now features more deciduous trees than before, so it's not just a Taiga 2.0
Mountains
- Mountain Peaks in the overworld have been smoothed out a bit
- Jagged Peaks is now more rocky and less snowy than the Frozen Peaks
🗺️ Structures
- Trail Ruins — This last untouched vanilla structure has been reworked into a burial chamber filled with graves and archaeological finds. Another Underground Structure that starts as a surface structure.
- Abandoned Dojos — See above for details
- Yomi Castles — See above for details.
- Abandoned Manors — Removed the Shinobi
- Overworld Castles — One of the more common large castles you usually see is no longer exclusive to Clan Takeda and can be owned by Satomi or Kobayakawa.
- Burnt Villages — Block palette changes to be more accurate.
- Burnt Pagodas — Has a variant that's actively being burnt to the ground.
- Graveyards — Tombstones are now randomized and placed through individual jigsaw pieces instead of being a fixed set.
- Inari Shrines — New Shrine Variants
- Shinto Shrines — Nerfed the chest loot table to be more early game friendly.
- Clearings — Removed from the mod
🪨 Dry Gardens
- Sand, Gravel, and White Mizugone Powder can now be raked using the Zen Garden Rake to spice up your Japanese Garden. No more needing to compromise with the suspicious sand/gravel blocks.
- Overall shape is determined similarly to rails, but you can alter the shape by rightclicking again like a debug stick.
- Walking on the raked garden will render it back to its original block.
- You can crouch on them, though.
🔧 Misc
- Reworked soundbase for Boars, Deer, Ashigaru, and Omukade.
- Samurai mobs such as Ronin, Goryo, and Clanned Samurai have "attack" voice lines bc its cool.
- Villagers have a new hurt sound.
- Added some new music
- Certain Mobs will only spawn after the player has advanced certain stages of the game.
- Goryo won't spawn until the player has mined diamonds.
- Omukade (outside of Lush Caves) and Ushi Oni won't spawn until the player has obtained Tamahagane Armor.
- Shinobi Patrols won't spawn unless certain predicates are met.
- Honest to god, I actually haven't even been able to test the shinobi patrols yet, so the chances of this not working are all possible.
- Added new dialogue options in the Hideo Kojima romance sidequest.
- Tuned the duration of how long music tracks will play before starting a new track to avoid less awkward silent moments.
- Stone Lanterns now require Candles instead of Torches in their recipe.
- Oni Brutes have knockback built into their attacks, so you don't get stun locked and die instantly.
- All mobs now have that "sweep sound and particle" attack to hopefully make their melee attacks more readable.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Added in the missing loot tables for Stone Lanterns
- Made it possible to tame Deer.
- Deer no longer flee from creative mode players.
- Fix the Crow Spawning (again)
- Knowing my luck, this will be back, that or the person who pointed this out was on an old version. If so, that would make me really sour.
- Kodama Nezumi/Creepers are now fully exempt from the stealth system and will return to their vanilla behavior. Making them the ones who sneak up on you, not the other way around.
- Removed the whole onsen tick system in Yomi/Nether to avoid the massive stutter near magma blocks.
- Removed Tree Sap from dropping from Leaves that have been dropped via shears.
- Omukade no longer spawns in water.
- All non-Burnt Plains Structures no longer spawn in the Burnt Plains, so they won't overlap with the biome's exclusive structures.

- I haven't even gotten to Warlord tier stuff in my personal test playthrough.
- Superflat Worlds
- Samurai mobs and bandits having the attention span of a goldfish.
- Road structure pieces covering tree tops on distantly loaded structures.
- Some achievement glitches.

2.0.8Релиз1.21.1 · 29 марта 2026 г.
-Fixed bug that caused Sakura Saplings to grow into oak trees.
-Couldn't figure out why the exit portal in the End/Ryugu jo wasn't spawning. For now, I added tide pearls/ender eyes to the chests in Ryugu jo structures, so you can take the exit portal located in one of the structures youll find.
-Added small “secondary structures” to single building structures like outcast villagers and abandoned mineshafts (surface entry).
-Widen biome spawns for District Villages, Minka Villages, and Market Villages to make them less rare.
-Changed the textures for Omukade.
-Since sheep aren't in the game, I made acquiring dyed wool much more accessible by altering the crafting recipe.
2.0.8Бета1.21.1 · 26 марта 2026 г.

smaller update except for the new Omukade mob.
Test version for now, will provide a proper changelog later.
2.0.74Релиз1.21.1 · 16 марта 2026 г.
GENERAL CHANGES:
-FULLY optimized onsen water. You won't need to turn it off in a config anymore.
The mod will now NO LONGER RUN when the client doesn't have any version of Lithostitched, Entity Texture Features, Entity Model Features, Continuity, and Polytone. This should prevent people from asking me why X isn't working in my Discord server.
-However, if you are using some weird alternative to these mods, remove them from the dependencies in the fabric.mod.json file in the mod file.
-Bandit Patrol spawn rates are reduced to 40% within 5 chunks of a player's spawn bed.
- They should also no longer spawn in player-made light.
-Shoji Frames that don't have paper in their recipe now have their default placement state be paperless
- You can add to the shoji by adding paper.
-Recipe changed for the painting.
-Text and subtitles can now be accessed and modified in the lang files for anyone wishing to translate the mod to their own language.
-Additions to the fog/mist weather event that has a chance of occurring after rainfall.
-Another set of fog particles has been added to the event, however due to optimization, it is disabled by default, so you will have to enable it if you have Mod Menu installed.
-Particles are limited based on nearby entities to prevent frame drops.
-Some structure placement changes.
-New Kiso Cypress version of the Micro village.
-Outcast Villager structures will no longer spawn inside fortresses.
-Tried playing around with adding custom beard box sizes, didn't really work, but maybe some of it did.
-Added a new dirt block called “Coarse Farm Dirt”. The only reason I added it was to have a block to use for empty paddy field farm structure pieces without having trees and grass spawning on top of them.
BUGS:
-Removed the tatami duplication glitch.
-Obtaining Izanami tears from Weeping Willow Leaves can now only be done in Yomi.
-Izanami Tears can now be found in Izanami Temples (Nether fortress alt).
-Having a sword in your offhand will properly display it as sheathed in your model appearance.
-Limited Crow spawning in Burnt Plains.
-Limited Tengu spawning in Ryugu
-Fixed the bug where you die in the game you die in real life.
-Fixed the Shinobi Music from fading out just by walking behind a block.
-Trims and Enchantables can now be applied to White and Black Sando/Straw Hats and Capes.
-Fixed swapped lang files for Russian/Chinese Translations that were graciously provided for me.
BIOMES
-Added several biome transition features using the power of Lithostiched to make clashing environments feel more natural.
-Several new additions to the Swamp and Marsh biome, such as mossy rocks and willow mangrove trees.
BLOCKS:
-New ‘willow vines’ for Sakura and Mangrove trees.
-Diorite, Andesite, and Tuff Stone Lanterns.
-Coarse Farmland, details above.
TEXTURES:
-New Ronin variants.
-Reworked Straw hat model/textures.
-New item textures for the map and paper.
-Desaturated the shit out of the Spawn Dolls/eggs because I hate fun.
