Warning: Generally recommended you use the data pack version if you plan on downloading other mods/data packs that mess with Cobblemon's species files or species additions. Mod version's mainly here for exposure!
New battling strategies await you in Project Lazuli for Cobblemon! We're a pack dedicated to remixing hundreds of existing moves, abilities, items, Pokemon, and even some battle mechanics within the Showdown portion of Cobblemon to further help fit the open-world nature of Cobblemon and let you go full ride or die with your favorites in new and exciting ways! OVER 1100 EDITED FILES!
Full documentation of the hundreds of things changed is here!
NOTICE: This is the preview version of Project Lazuli. Although you can install this on an existing instance, just keep in mind that this among many other changes, also changes learnsets, abilities, and the like, adding and removing some here and there.
FIRST-TIME INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR DATA PACK VERSION (Mega Showdown required)
Download these recommended mods.- Cobblemon Move Inspector
- Simple Resource Loader (if on Fabric) (or any other global resource AND data pack loading mod)
- Your choice of Cobblemon mod that gives you access to moves via TMs, Tutors, and Egg moves. There's several of 'em so pick your favorite.
- Mega Showdown
- AlltheMons x Mega Showdown if you want to
- Just download, and put it into your data pack loading and resource loading mods of choice!
- That being said, you should enable cheats for now, unless you're confident you know what you're doing.
TECHNICAL STUFF, WARNINGS & KNOWN BUGS
Project Lazuli is a combination of a data pack and a resource pack backed by the power of Mega Showdown's extra loading capabilities for editing custom type charts, conditions... everything basically that isn't custom moves/abilities. However, there are a few things Mega Showdown alone can't do, so keep this in mind:
- This pack does the forbidden sin of directly editing certain Pokemon's species files. This is because (at the time of writing anyway)
species_additionscannot target the alternate forms of Pokemon. - In the same vein, for some reason or another, our data pack needs to be loaded pretty much after ALL OTHER Cobblemon-related datapacks, even with
species_additions. This is due to how Cobblemon currently loads additions. However, the download you'll recieve is tailored to help make sure it's loaded last. - This means that if you're installing any other data packs that tweak existing Pokemon, check and make sure they don't do the same thing. If they do, you may need to manually merge our changes with their changes as you see fit.
KNOWN INCOMPATIBLE PACKS/MODS
The reason why this is currently incompatible though is because it directly changes the Showdown cache in its own way, not using Mega Showdown's cache changing data packs. We'll keep this updated as time goes on.
For some reason or another, combined with this pack, the PC won't open. Might or might not work as of this update?
Very minor incompatibility: Its move tooltips don't update for Project Lazuli moves.
If need be, we have a support channel on Cobblemon's Discord Server, or coming soon on Mega Showdown's Discord server.

Changelog here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LOU_qacznc-5HnRQVau7ahDjjAhHRJdHb3ee3p8a3DU
NOTE: WHEN UPDATING, IF YOU’RE USING THE DATA PACK VERSION, YOU WILL WANT TO DELETE THE OLD VERSION THEN INSTALL THIS NEW VERSION! This is because the locations of some files have been changed, writing into your current folder is a bad idea. This change should hopefully help some more things become compatible.

Grab the other half here if you plan on using ZAMegas, though it isn't required!
Bug fixes: Glalie can actually learn Return, Frustration and Double Edge as TMs now. Pikachu's fixed for Mega Showdown. Yanmega can learn Nasty Plot as a TM. (The suggestion to tweak Yanmega further is still being considered for the next update, this is just the one we promised first)
As of this update, all further changelogs will be put in this handy Google doc right here. Because Discord has character limits and Modrinth seems to glitch out a bit with big changelogs. Note that I just mean changelogs, the actual changes sheet is still active!

New tricks, new sets, new updates! You suggested and we listened!
Pokemon Changes:
Jellicent now has Misty Surge as a hidden ability over Damp
Jellicent is a Pokemon that actively hunts ships while underwater. It's a big, slow ghost that, much like the scariest ghosts should have, just has an eerie Mist surrounding it... so, why not Misty Terrain itself? With this, it can play some great support or even run some good setup, also bringing a sort-of Dragon resist to the table. Just be careful if you equip Heavy-Duty Boots on it, it won't be able to benefit from it! Frillish also has Wonder Skin to replace its Damp.
Deoxys (all forms) have Liquid Ooze as a hidden ability
Probably shouldn't be trying to sap the lifeforce of a living parasite alien, huh?
Kyurem now has Refrigerate as a regular ability, with Weak Armor as a hidden ability. Pressure is entirely gone from it.
Weak Armor generally references how it's a husk, it's not whole at all. But, it also gives it the potential for more speed with its bulk.
Mr. Mime now has Psychic Surge as a hidden ability (instead of Misty Terrain)
This replaces Misty Surge as a hidden ability, and helps it fit with blocking attacks! Remember that one Mr. Mime puzzle from Legends Arceus? It's a bit like that.
Empoleon's got a new rework!
Empoleon's dex entries are always talking about how it cuts through everything that hurts its pride with its flippers, getting up close and personal to do it. With Game Freak constantly even expanding its physical movepool with moves like Wave Crash, Triple Axel and Earthquake, we figured it should get the Gourgeist treatment! Empoleon is now a bulky, strong physical attacker with LOTS of utility. Whether you're hitting hard with Wave Crash and using Roost to heal it off after, or even spreading the new Freezing status with Frost Breath and pivoting out with a stronger Flip Turn, we hope you'll enjoy this new spin on a Pokemon we've honestly neglected for a while!
NEW MOVES (in this update): Iron Head, Frost Breath, Drill Run
NEW (old?) HIDDEN ABILITY: Defiant
NEW STAT SPREAD: 84/113/93/76/106/62
Pre-evolutions are also adjusted to help match this smoothly in PvE.
Big Pecks rework!
Instead of gaining the added ability to boost "pecking" moves, it now entirely ignores any Attack stat boosts from the opponent. It's a bit like Unaware except exclusively for opposing attack stats. This helps it sync better with its original effect of its Defense stat being unable to be lowered, while allowing more options to stop some set-up sweepers. This also helps it work better with its original Japanese name of... checks notes, Pidgeon Breast.
So similarly, those who benefitted from Big Pecks whether in the past or now got a second look.
Fearow
New Moves: First Impression, Swords Dance, Dual Wingbeat, Last Resort, Tailwind, Knock Off, Taunt, Switcheroo, Power Trip, Feint, Double Edge. First Impression's Japanese name is "Head-On Collision", which generally fits its dex entries of how it fights, all the way from its "thing" in Gen 1 being Sky Attack. Moves like Knock Off and Switcheroo both have to do with how in Alola, it can steal the food right out of your hand when you're not looking.
Swanna
Loses Stamina, regains Keen Eye (due to Keen Eye's own buffs) Clear Body is now the hidden ability. New moves (in this update): Whirlwind, Sing, Sparkling Aria, Punishment Keen Eye's buff allows it to use Hydro Pump AND Hurricane with great accuracy, especially after setting up with Quiver Dance. And with Big Pecks, it can Whirlwind away a physical set-up sweeper or set up Victory Dance and Roost. Sing and Sparkling Aria have to do with its synchronized routines & bubbles.
Toucannon
Its exclusive move, Beak Blast, is changed to be a guaranteed burn via secondary effect as opposed to its original effect.
Furfrou!
With the new Cobblemon-exclusive forms comes new moves! Lavender: Purify Matcha: Grass Whistle Crusader: Sacred Sword Cinnamon: Wood Hammer Mourner: Foul Play Rocker: Parting Shot
Delibird officially gets Frost Breath. Unfezant gets Hyper Voice.
Dracozolt, Arctozolt & Bolt Beak Bolt Beak is changed back to being a physical move. Dracozolt & Arctozolt's SpA and Atk were swapped back.
Dracozolt New moves: Jump Kick, Temper Flare, Earthquake Arctozolt New moves: Jump Kick, Ice Punch, Liquidation, Rock Slide, Taunt, Triple Axel Dracovish New moves: Jump Kick
Starter PvE Changes!
When you compare the S/V starters to the previous generation starters when it comes to level-up moves, they're on an entirely new level. Having coverage and almost all of their best-in-slot moves in there via level-up, or at the very least something that allows for a workable set. This is a bit of a WIP thing, let us know if any mons are learning moves way too early/too late.
Venusaur: Learns Toxic & Venoshock at level 46, Weather Ball at level 50.
Weather Ball being a level up move is all about how it's affected by both rain and sunlight in Pokedex entries.
Charmander: Learns Metal Claw at level 15
Blastoise: Learns Body Press at level 35
Has to do with how it learns Iron Defense in its 40's, but also how its dex entries talk of how it crushes prey under itself.
Chikorita: Learns Heart Stamp at Level 15, Light Screen at Level 22, Dazzling Gleam at level 52.
Heart Stamp is generally since it generally remains as a "cutesy" starter throughout its whole evo line, while giving some foreshadowing to it learning Screen support moves. Light Screen is bumped down to let it be some great support throughout your PvE experience.
Cyndaquil: Learns Gyro Ball at level 15, Typhlosion learns Earth Power at level 52
Typhlosion in vanilla games learns Gyro Ball at level 1... despite it being at a point in the game where it's too fast to even use it. Cyndaquil is in a slightly similar boat, but at least for early-game stuff it might have a fair BP against most enemies.
Totodile: Learns Rage at level 15, Aqua Jet at level 22, Breaking Swipe at level 28, Croconaw learns Liquidation at level 55, Feraligatr learns Outrage at level 75
Keep in mind Rage here is like a Dark-type Power-Up Punch.
Mudkip: Learns Liquidation at level 56
Turtwig: Learns Smack Down at level 15
Chimchar: Learns Karate Chop at level 15
Piplup: Learns Wing Attack at level 15
Snivy: Learns Twister at level 15 (BP buffed to 60), Taunt at level 30
Serperior: Learns Glare & Mean Look at level 1
Tepig: Learns Rock Smash at level 15
Oshawott: Learns Fury Cutter at level 15, Aerial Ace at 24, Flip Turn at 55, Dewott learns Night Slash at 60 & as a TM
Chespin: Learns Defense Curl at level 15 (for Rollout)
Fennekin: Learns Confusion at level 15, Nasty Plot at 65
Grookey: Learns Round at level 15
Scorbunny: Learns Work Up at level 15, Jump Kick at 50
Sobble: Learns Mud Shot at level 15, Vacuum Wave at level 50
Sprigatito: Learns Hone Claws at level 15 (instead of at the beginning)
Fuecoco: Learns Round at level 15 (instead of at the beginning), learns Bite at level 10
Quaxly: Learns Wing Attack at level 10 (instead of at the beginning)
For Jellicent, Empoleon, and Mr. Mime-Kantonian, just giving them their hidden ability again should fix it.
Once again, thank you for supporting us! If you have any suggestions, you can always put it as an issue in our Gitlab page ||so I don't go forgetting about it by accident if I did here||

This version is meant to be used with Cobblemon 1.7! Fixed Color Change & Diglett. Please keep in mind that some mons with certain functions might not work properly, I'm getting to work on it right now. Abilities and moves have been moved to the proper folders. Please let us know if anything's not working like it should.
8Релиз1.21.1 · 14 ноября 2025 г.
Probably about time we got this update going! This new version of Project Lazuli fixes the Shadow Force bug that was stuck there for a while (battle crashing), alongside fixing Hisuian Avalugg's stats for it to be like it is in the document. It also adds a new function to the Friend Guard ability for you singles players.
Friend Guard: Reduces damage done to adjacent allies. No adjacent allies: switching out reduces damage done to the Pokemon that switched in for this turn.
This mean that in Doubles/Triples it retains its usual function, but in single battles, switching out reduces damage to the Pokemon that switched in will reduce damage done to it by 25% for that turn.
With Cobblemon 1.7 coming out VERY soon, we're gonna be focusing on making sure that everything's ready for a proper port to it ASAP. It should go along smoothly, but still, please report any bugs you see either on our Gitlab or our support thread.
