RESOURCE PACK IS REQUIRED

OPTIFINE/EMF IS NOT

Earthly Mobs is a datapack that seeks to bring back some of the lost mob variants that existed in Minecraft Earth, as well as from a few other sources. It currently adds 33 new mobs, several of which have some new properties!

New Mob Variants:

Pigs:

  • Muddy Pig: Sunflower Plains
  • Pale Pig: Snowy Plains and Pale Garden
  • Mottled Pig: All Forests
  • Piebald Pig: All Forests
  • Pink-Footed Pig: All Forests
  • Sooty Pig: Dark Forest
  • Spotted Pig: Swamp and Mangrove Swamp
  • MCD Spotted Pig: Swamp and Mangrove Swamp

Cows:

  • Albino Cow: Default Biomes and Pale Garden
  • Ashen Cow: Default Biomes
  • Cookie Cow: Default Biomes
  • Cream Cow: Default Biomes
  • Dairy Cow: Default Biomes
  • Pinto Cow: Default Biomes
  • Sunset Cow: Warm Biomes
  • Umbra Cow: Cold and Default Biomes
  • Wooly Cow: Cold Biomes and Snowy Plains
  • Moobloom: Sunflower Plains and Flower Forest
  • Moolip: Cherry Grove and Flower Forest
  • Magma Cow: Basalt Deltas
  • Moon Cow: End Highlands, End Midlands, and Small End Islands

Chickens:

  • Amber Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Bronzed Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Fancy Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Gold Crested Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Skewbald Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Stormy Chicken: Default Biomes
  • Cluckshroom: Dark Forest and Mushroom Fields
  • Midnight Chicken: Same as Black Cats
  • MCD Duck: Hatched from Eggs

Wolves:

  • Skeleton Wolf: Desert

Cats:

  • Gray Tabby: Default Cat Spawns
  • MCD Tabby: Default Cat Spawns

Grey Llama Reskin:

Due to the lack of support for custom llama variants, and the similarity between the vanilla grey and white llama textures, the grey llama has been retextured to resemble the Jolly Llama.

Easter Egg Variants:

Some mobs have unique variants that don't spawn in the wild. To access these variants, you need to do something specific while interacting with the mob. Undoing the action that triggered the change will also revert the mob's variant to what it was before.

  • Mars Wolf: Rename a wolf "Mars"
  • Dyed Cat: Rename a cat "Peanut Butter"
  • MCD Piebald Pig: Feed a baby Piebald pig a golden dandelion

Custom Items:

  • Cheese: resembling end stone, this food item is dropped by moon cows. It replenishes the same amount of hunger as steak, albeit with less saturation, providing an alternate source of food in the end.
  • Fancy Feather: dropped by fancy chickens, this special feather exists to remind everyone that yes, they are in fact, better than you. It has no unique functionality from a regular feather.
  • Jolly Carpet: crafted with a green carpet and a sweet berry, this carpet can be used to give your llamas the unique festive carpet design of the original jolly llama. When placed, it reverts to a regular green carpet.
  • Bucket of Mud: crafted with an empty bucket and either 8 dirt or one mud block, the bucket of mud is exactly what you'd expect. It can be placed like a normal mud block, or it can be used on a temperate pig, turning it into a muddy pig. Either way, you get your empty bucket back.
  • Custom Eggs: Every new chicken type has their own egg they can hatch from

Villager Trades:

Some new trades have been added!

  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to sell mud buckets as a common trade
  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to sell jolly carpets as an uncommon trade
  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to sell duck eggs as an uncommon trade
  • Wandering Traders now have a chance to buy fancy feathers for emeralds
  • Master Librarians will now trade a fancy feather and a book and quill for a book with a fancy quill

Datapack Menu:

There's a new menu on the pause screen! Along with some general information about the datapack, if you have cheats enabled, you can change some settings, too!

  • Fluffy Cow Shearing: By smacking an Umbra or Wooly cow with a pair of shears, you can shear them like a sheep. Umbra cows drop black wool, while Wooly cows drop brown. After a few minutes, their wool should grow back.

  • Flower Cow Shearing: By smacking a Moobloom or a Moolip with a pair of shears, you can turn them back into a temperate cow, much like how you can with mooshrooms. When sheared, they leave behind a dandelion or pink tulip, respectively.

  • Responsive Muddy Pigs: Causes the mud on Muddy pigs to interact with their environment. Their mud will dry out in warm biomes. Once dried out, they can be returned to their normal state by having them stand on mud or muddy roots. Standing on these blocks will also prevent them from drying out in the first place. Finally, they can have their mud washed off entirely by going for a swim, reverting them to temperate pigs.

  • Custom Mob Drops: Allows some mob variants to have different drops from their vanilla counterparts. This does not include the custom eggs laid by chickens, but it does include the cluckshroom having a chance to lay a mushroom instead.

    Mobs with unique loot include:

    • Umbra Cow (Black Wool, Leather, and Beef)
    • Wooly Cow (Brown Wool, Leather, and Beef)
    • Magma Cow (Basalt and Steak)
    • Moon Cow (Cheese, Glass Bottles, and Bones)
    • Cluckshroom (Feathers, Chicken, and a single Mushroom)
    • Fancy Chicken (Fancy Feathers and Chicken)
    • Skeleton Wolf (Bones)

Technical Changes:

Most variants work in a way that SHOULD allow them to accept biomes from other mods/datapacks, as far as I can tell. I don't know enough about how different datapacks interact, especially when it comes to loot tables and world generation, to be able to say if some of the behind-the-scenes stuff in this datapack could interfere with others. I tested a couple and it seemed to be safe, but I'm listing the relevant information just in case.

  • Chicken egg laying loot table has been altered to include all new variants. All chicken variants have their own unique eggs.
  • Animals can now spawn on mycelium, basalt, and end stone.
  • Wolves can now spawn on sand.
  • Basalt Deltas world generation has been altered so cows can spawn in groups of 1-2 (...theoretically)
  • Deserts world generation has been altered so wolves can spawn in groups of 1-2
  • End Highlands, End Midlands, and Small End Islands world generation have been altered so cows can spawn in groups of 1-4
  • Mushroom Fields world generation has been altered so chickens can spawn in groups of 4
  • Pale Gardens world generation has been altered so pigs can rarely spawn in groups of 4
  • Snowy Plains world generation has been altered so cows and pigs can spawn in groups of 4

v.15.1Бета26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 · 13 апреля 2026 г.
  • This version of the resource pack works with Fresh Animations
  • Baby Mooblooms and Moolips now have little flowers on their heads :)
v1.5Релиз26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 · 3 апреля 2026 г.
  • Datapack now works with update 26.1

  • All existing earthly mob variants now have brand-new baby textures

  • All chicken variants now lay custom eggs

  • The gray baby llama has a new texture to resemble the Jolly Llama, just like the adult version

  • Custom items now have language support. Due to the new format, old cheese and jolly carpet items will not stack with those from after the update

  • Fixed a bug where the cow you hit wasn't always the cow that was sheared

  • Fixed a bug where breeding fluffy cows after shearing them could create a sheared baby cow

  • Custom Mob Drops have been added to the config menu. Vanilla chicken, cow, and wolf loot tables are no longer directly affected.

  • Config menu is now properly located in the pause screen

  • Mud Buckets can now be used on Dried Muddy Pigs

  • Name tag variants have been added! Giving certain mobs a custom name will change them into an otherwise unobtainable variant. As with the vanilla name tag easter eggs, renaming them after will remove this custom texture. This only works for variants from vanilla and earthly mobs. Unlike the vanilla name tag easter eggs, breeding a mob affected by this easter egg can create a child with the same variant.

    • Naming a wolf "Mars" will give it the custom texture from the OneBlockAtATime update. Skeleton wolves are not affected.
    • Naming a cat "Peanut Butter" will give it the dyed cat texture from Minecraft Earth
  • MCD Spotted Pigs now spawn alongside the Earth Spotted Pig in swampy biomes

  • The MCD Gray Tabby and Unused Bedrock Gray Tabby will now spawn alongside all normal cat variants. These cats have also been added to the Complete Catalogue advancement requirements

  • MCD Ducks can be hatched from eggs sold by the Wandering Trader

  • MCD Piebald Pigs can be created by feeding a golden dandelion to a baby piebald pig

  • Master Librarians will now trade a fancy feather and a book and quill for a book with a fancy quill

v1.4Релиз1.21.11 · 13 января 2026 г.
  • Updated for version 1.21.11
  • Config menu is now a diologue
  • Bug Fixes
v1.3Релиз1.21.5 · 25 марта 2025 г.
  • Datapack now works with 1.21.5

Cow Shearing:

  • Wooly and Umbra cows can be sheared like sheep by hitting them with a pair of shears. When sheared, they drop 1-3 wool (brown for Wooly, black for Umbra) and enter a cooldown period for 30-120 seconds. While in this cooldown, they will have a new texture and will no longer drop wool when killed.
  • Mooblooms and Moolips can be sheared like mooshrooms by hitting them with a pair of shears. When sheared, they will drop a flower (dandelion for Mooblooms, pink tulip for Moolips) and become a temperate cow.
  • When you 'shear' a cow, it should be healed instantly
  • Warm cows no longer drop brown wool when killed

Moon Cows:

  • Moon cows from the A or B April Fool's snapshot now spawn in The End, specifically in the End Highlands, End Midlands, and a little more frequently in Small End Islands
  • Due to the lack of natural light in The End, they don't spawn under normal conditions. If you light up an area enough and wait, chances are you'll see one eventually.
  • Just like in their snapshot of origin, Moon cows have a custom loot table. They drop cheese, glass bottles and bones when killed
  • Added cheese. Functionally it's the same as steak, but it has an animation when you eat it.

Magma Cows:

  • Magma Cows should now spawn in basalt deltas
  • They're fireproof
  • Magma cows drop basalt and steak in place of leather and beef
  • I haven't actually seen these guys spawn naturally in the nether. I'm PRETTY sure they can, but there's a non-zero chance they're still functionally unused.

False Jolly Llama:

  • The grey llama texture has been replaced by the Jolly Llama
  • By putting a green carpet and some sweet berries in a crafting grid, you can get the Jolly Carpet, which resembles the Jolly Llama's unique carpet design. Placing it will revert it to a normal green carpet.

Egg Laying Changes:

  • Reverted making all data-driven chickens lay temperate eggs
  • Cluckshrooms now lay red mushrooms instead of eggs
  • Fancy Chickens now have an equal chance to lay any of the three types of eggs instead of just the standard temperate egg
  • Amber and Bronzed chickens now lay brown eggs
  • Stormy and Midnight chickens now lay blue eggs
  • Skewbald and Gold Crested chickens still lay temperate eggs
  • These changes don't affect the type of chicken that come out of the eggs, sadly

Responsive Muddy Pigs:

  • Added the Bucket of Mud. It can be crafted with a bucket and either 8 dirt blocks or one mud. It can be used like a block of mud, or you can use it on a temperate pig to turn them into a muddy pig.
  • Muddy pigs will change to their Dried Muddy texture if standing in a warm biome
  • Dried Muddy pigs that stand on Mud or Muddy Mangrove Roots will be reverted to Muddy pigs
  • Muddy and Dried Muddy Pigs will become temperate pigs when floating in water

Config Menu:

  • Added config menu
  • Wooly cow sheering can be disabled
  • Moobloom and moolip sheering can be disabled
  • Responsive muddy pigs can be disabled

Journal:

  • Whenever you interact with (or smack) a mob variant for the first time, you get a new entry in the journal, found in the advancements tab
  • Each entry has an icon of the mob's face, the biome you can find them in, and sometimes a little entry about them.
  • Works for cows, chickens, pigs, and wolves

Misc:

  • Farm animals can now spawn on both basalt and end stone
  • Skeleton wolves now drop 1-2 bones when killed
  • Added a new advancement for bringing a moon cow back to the overworld
