NeoVitae
A magical mod where blood is the currency of power. Harvest it, refine it, weave it into rituals and runes, and bend the world to your will.
You begin with a diamond and a wound. From those first crimson drops, you'll build an altar capable of devouring entire ecosystems, network your soul to the anima network that transcends dimensions, forge demons into tools, and rip a hole in reality to reach a demonic dimension whose only inhabitants want you dead. A blood themed magical journey written with both player experience and modpack makers in mind.
The Ara Vitae
The heart of the mod is the Ara Vitae. A multiblock altar that consumes Essentia Vitae (EV) to transmute items. Drop in a Blood Orb and the altar starts sharing your Anima, a personal pool of essentia that follows you from world to world, dimension to dimension, container to container.
Six tiers of construction shape what the altar can do, from a bare stone box that crafts cheap reagents up through six rings of runes (Speed, Acceleration, Charging, Capacity, Sacrifice, Dislocation, Orb, and their Reinforced counterparts) that bend the altar's behavior to your strategy. Cap stones at the higher tiers drive alchemy array projections that float above the structure during work, each tier producing more elaborate visual circuitry. Six tiers of Orbs of Vitae carry the network's capacity up to civilizational scale.
Sigils & Tools
Drop a Blood Orb into a Tabula Vitae with the right reagents and out comes a Sigil. A one-handed tool that performs a specific job at a specific essentia cost.
- Sigil of the Blood Light. Toss a configurable colored light source onto any surface; brightness, hue, and redstone sensitivity are all tweakable on the placed light or before-throw.
- Sigil of Holding. Carry up to nine other sigils at once and cycle between them with a hotkey.
- Magnetism, Air, Water, Lava, Void, Phantom Bridge, Teleposition, Suppression, Seer. The rest of the standard utility kit, reworked to feel responsive and informative.
- Bound weapon and tool variants that draw durability from your Anima instead of physical metal.
- Many More
Living Arts: Flasks, Anointments, Sentient Armor
The Tabula Vitae is a six-input alchemical bench that brews two distinct families of consumable:
- Alchemy Flasks. Reusable potion containers with custom effect components and configurable duration tiers.
- Anointments. Tool and weapon coatings applied without taking the item out of your hand. Iron Tip on a bow for 25% more damage; Archer's Polish for 50% more velocity; Looting, Fortune, Silk Touch, Smelting, Voiding, Quick Draw, Hidden Knowledge, Weapon Repair, Holy Water, Bow Power, and Melee coatings deplete with use rather than time.
The Hellfire Forge crafts Sentient weapons and armor, equipment that drinks the souls of mobs you kill and grows stronger from it.
The Sanguine Ward
Hold any tier of Blood Orb and your essentia pool begins to weave a Sanguine Ward around you, a personal shield that absorbs incoming damage at a steady cost in EV per second. Tank a creeper, walk through arrows, finish a delicate ritual under fire; the ward burns through your Anima before it lets you take the wound. Fully configurable in the server config so packs can tune it to their balance.
Rituals (30+ and growing)
The Master Ritual Stone and its rune complement let you anchor permanent or one-shot rituals across the world.
- Crystallum Fractura. Auto-harvests Spiritus Crystal clusters in range with a Fortune scaling bonus.
- The Torment Nexus. Binds nearby spawners and trial spawners, suppressing their spawns and siphoning a stream of EV and loot from the simulated kills.
- Highway to Hell. Opens a permanent gateway to an endless, procedurally generated demon dungeon.
- Well of Suffering. Drains life from nearby mobs to feed your altar.
- Ritual of Overgrowth. Bonemeals nearby crops and saplings; Spiritus aspects add farmland hydration, plant-leeching, and scaled growth.
- Plus Cry of the Forsaken Soul, Ritual of Harvest, Ritual of Fallen Trees, Ritual of Accelerated Aging, The Endless Quarry, Hymn of Siphoning, Serenade of the Nether, Ritual of Meteo, Ritual of the Full Spring, Ritual of Containment, Ritual of Expulsion, The Sinner's Burden, Dome of Suppression, Ritual of Regeneration, Ritual of Speed, The Gathering, Soaring Skies (true flight), Ritual of the Phantom Bridge, Dawn of the New Moon, Ritual of the Mason, Rhythm of the Beating Anvil, Ritual of the Satiated Stomach, All Consuming Void, Sentient Extraction, and Ritual of Sentient Evolution... and many more.
Every ritual is driven by a data map for stats. Modpack makers retune costs, ranges, and effects in a JSON without recompiling.
Spiritus & Crystals
A second, parallel resource layer. Spiritus is the latent magical energy of the world, divided into five aspects; Raw, Ruina (decay), Nihilum (void), Vindicta (vengeance), and Invictus (resilience). Hostile mob kills feed an aspect-aligned pool stored per-player. Spiritus Crystals placed in the world draw the local field into harvestable clusters, biased toward whichever aspect you've configured. Crystals power sentient weapons, advanced upgrades, and several rituals.
The Endless Dungeon
The Dungeon dimension is a procedurally-assembled underground network of corridors, ore caverns, mining stations, libraries, smithies, antechambers, arenas, and crypts, every room a hand-authored structure shuffled and stitched by jigsaw generation.
Inhabiting it is a roster of many custom demons built from the ground up. None are reskins of vanilla mobs.
- Daemonium Ignis. Fire-bound striker
- Daemonium Cruoris. Armored melee guardian
- Daemonium Glaciaris. Frost mage
- Daemonium Pestis. Disease vector
- Daemonium Rancoris. Ranged spite-archer
- Daemonium Animaris. Spirit drainer
- Daemonium Corrodis. Armor stripper
- Daemonium Doloris. Pain-channeler
- Daemonium Fervidis. Heat aura
- Daemonium Voraxis. Devourer
Each has its own attack animations, layered sound design, spawn-invulnerability windows, self-stun timings during heavy attacks, death-particle bursts, and a custom drop table that feeds back into progression. Trial spawners across the dungeon scale with player count.
Atmosphere & Polish
A lot of work went into making the magic feel magical:
- Custom altar animation with floating rods, ritual circle projections, and cascade particles during active crafts.
- Procedural stream effects. Life essence threads visibly between altars, capacitors, and tanks during transfers.
- Custom blood particles. Flames, glow, droplets, snare wisps, blood-stream chains.
- Tier-specific visuals that ramp from a subtle red shimmer at tier 1 to actively reshaping the air above the structure at tier 6.
- Modonomicon-powered guidebook. Scriptura Vitae, with parallax category backgrounds, custom recipe page types for every machine, and prose written to actually teach the systems rather than dump bullet points.
- Tooltips everywhere. Sigils, anointments, rituals, automation slot configuration, all annotated.
Quality of Life
- Tabula Vitae ships with per-side hopper/pipe configuration. Click a slot to activate it, then click direction buttons to toggle which faces can insert or extract. Buttons hide themselves when no slot is selected so the GUI stays clean.
- JEI integration with custom recipe categories for every machine type.
- Jade tooltips for altars, tanks, batteries, and routing nodes.
- Curios support for the Training Bracelet and other equippable items.
- Sigil of Ritual Diviner rotates through known ritual layouts in-world, color-coding required runes.
- Routing Node network for item, fluid, and energy transport with priority controls and per-side filter ghosting.
Built for Pack Makers
Nearly everything is datapack driven:
- Ritual stats live in
data/<namespace>/data_maps/ritual_stats/. - Sigil costs and behavior in
sigil_stats. - Imperfect ritual stats in their own data map.
- All recipe types (Ara Vitae, Tabula Vitae, Hellfire Forge, Athanor, Alchemy Array, Flask, Living Downgrade) read from JSON with proper codecs.
- A live materials.json drives the entire material processing chain (raw → fragment → gravel → dust → ingot). Add a new material with its color and ore tag, restart, and an in-memory pack auto-generates models, recipes, tags, and lang entries.
- Telepose blacklist is a block tag pack authors can edit.
- Block/item tags organized under the
c:namespace where appropriate. - Custom dungeon rooms can be added without code by dropping an NBT structure and a small JSON definition.
KubeJS-compatible, with every machine's recipe builder reachable from scripts.
Roadmap
NeoVitae is being treated as a living project. Planned and in-flight work:
- More rituals focused on world-shaping and automation.
- Additional demons for the dungeon, including boss-tier encounters.
- Expanded Sentient equipment tree with cross-piece synergies.
- An entirely new Sanguine Sorcery System…
- Performance passes as content density grows.
- Modpack integration support. If your pack runs NeoVitae and you want a hook or a tweak, let us know and we're happy to work with you.
Community feedback drives priorities. The issue tracker and Discord are the best places to weigh in on what gets built next.
Quick Start
- Find your first diamond and a flat patch of stone.
- Place a single Ara Vitae block and stand next to it. Right-click the diamond into it and wait as the altar draws blood from nearby players to provide some EV into it.
- Once enough EV has accumulated the diamond will transform. Take the Novicius Orb of Vitae that comes out. Bind it to yourself with a right click.
- Open Scriptura Vitae, the guidebook actually explains the rest of checkout our wiki.
The blood is yours. Spend it wisely.

1.21.1-1.0.26Релиз1.21.1 · 3 июля 2026 г.
1.0.26
Additions
- Diamond, Emerald, Lapis Lazuli, Nether Quartz, and Amethyst now have full material processing chains like the metals. Cut their ore (or Amethyst Clusters) into fragments with a cutting fluid in the Athanor, then work the fragments up through gravel and dust and back into the gem.
- NeoVitae recipes can now be bookmarked in JEI. Open any NeoVitae recipe and use JEI's bookmark button to pin it for quick reference.
Changes
- The Torment Nexus now keeps suppressing nearby spawners even when it runs out of Essentia Vitae. Its harvesting pauses until EV is available again, but the spawners it covers stay quiet in the meantime.
- The Ritual Diviner's ritual list is now sorted alphabetically by name, so it's easier to find the one you want.
Fixes
- Fixed a stray texture file whose name caused an "Invalid path in pack" error while loading resources.
- Ritual structure previews placed from the Scriptura Vitae now anchor the block you click on as the Master Ritual Stone, instead of appearing offset up and to the side.
- The Ritual of Harvest now collects sweet berries into its chest instead of dropping them on the ground, and it can now harvest berry bushes from other mods (such as Ars Nouveau Source Berries) as well.
- Holding the FTB Ultimine key near one of your own block-harvesting rituals (such as the Ritual of Harvest or Crystallum Fractura) no longer causes the ritual's harvesting to set off Ultimine and destroy the surrounding field.
- Sigils used as ingredients in Tabula Vitae recipes (such as the Lava Sigil for a lava bucket or the Water Sigil for a water bucket) are no longer consumed when the recipe finishes; they stay behind so you can keep using them.
- The Well of Suffering no longer pours Essentia Vitae straight into your network past your orb's capacity. It now channels the harvested Essentia Vitae into a nearby Ara Vitae, whose orb sets the limit, and it needs an Ara Vitae in range to function.

Additions
- New alchemy array: the Array of Imprisonment, inscribed from a Blood Pearl and a Lead. Draw it on top of a monster spawner, then kill a creature within an 11x11x11 area around the array; the spawner is reassigned to spawn that creature and the array is spent. Handy for tailoring spawners to feed a Torment Nexus or other farms. Its recipe and effect appear in JEI, and the Scriptura Vitae covers it in the alchemy arrays section with a note in the Torment Nexus entry. Creatures in the
neovitae:deny_imprisonmententity tag are ignored by the array (the Ender Dragon, Wither, and Warden by default); pack authors can edit the tag to control what may be bound. - Spiritus Gems can now pocket spawners. Sneak and right-click a Monster Spawner or Trial Spawner with a gem holding at least 200 Spiritus; that Spiritus is spent and the spawner drops as an item, keeping its mob and settings so you can set it back down elsewhere. The cost can be adjusted in the server config.
- Viewing a Hellfire Forge or Athanor recipe in JEI now shows the recipe-transfer (+) button. Click it to move the required items straight from your inventory into the machine's input slots, the same way it works for a crafting table.
- New Ritual of Butchering: slaughters adult animals in its area and gathers their drops into an adjacent chest, while always sparing enough of each species to keep breeding. Use the Ritual Configurator to set how many of each species to leave alive.
Changes
The Ritual of Accelerated Aging is now the Ritual of the Shepherd. It still speeds the growth of young animals, and now also breeds ready adults on its own, spending a small amount of Essentia Vitae to feed them rather than needing food in a chest, so no chest is required. It pairs with the Ritual of Butchering for a self-sustaining animal farm.
The Ritual Configurator has a new look. Right-click a Master Ritual Stone to open a panel listing every working area the ritual uses, with its current and maximum size, alongside buttons for the Spiritus aspect. Pick an area, then choose Edit area in world to drop into a two-corner placement with a live bounding-box preview; click two corners to size it, or a single block for a single-block slot. You can now configure a ritual's areas before it is even activated, and your settings carry over when you light it.
Resizing a ritual's working area with the Ritual Configurator no longer scraps the whole selection when you pick an invalid second corner. It keeps your first corner and tells you what was wrong (too large, or out of range), so you can just click a different block to try again.
Hovering a Spiritus aspect in the Ritual Configurator now shows what that aspect does for the ritual you are configuring, or notes that the ritual is not influenced by aspect.
The Crystallum Fractura ritual now harvests fully grown clusters from any modded budding block, such as Applied Energistics certus quartz and the budding crystals from other geode-style mods, not just its own Spiritus crystals. Its growth aura that speeds nearby budding now works noticeably faster as well.
Spiritus essence no longer turns up as random loot in dungeon chests or as a drop from the dungeon's demons. Gather it the intended way, with a Throwing Dagger or a Sentient weapon.
The Foreman now has a 15% chance to drop Hellforged Parts when defeated.
The default key for cycling the Lex Vitae's mode is now
.(period), since the previousLcollided with the vanilla Advancements screen. If you already rebound it, your setting is kept.
Fixes
- Fixed the Throwing Dagger recipe not being craftable.
- The Ritual of the Meteor now properly consumes its catalyst item when summoning a meteor.
- Input routing nodes once again render their connection beam to the blocks they are linked to.
- The Athanor's JEI recipe view now shows the correct Spiritus aspect names instead of leftover internal labels.
- Activating a dungeon ritual without enough room for its structure now correctly reports the lack of space, rather than wrongly claiming you are short on Essentia Vitae.
- The Tabula Vitae no longer destroys a craft's output when the result slot already holds some of that item. Repeat crafts now stack into the slot as expected, and a craft will not run if its result cannot fit.
- Breaking a Master Routing Node now drops its installed Stack and Speed upgrades instead of deleting them.
- Partially filled Blood Orbs once again show their red fill level instead of rendering as solid white.

1.21.1-1.0.24Релиз1.21.1 · 25 июня 2026 г.
1.0.24
Changes
- The Ritual Configurator has a new interface. Right-click a Master Ritual Stone to open a panel listing every area the ritual uses, including single-block slots like a ritual's chest, alongside its working areas. Pick the one you want, set the ritual's Spiritus aspect, and see each area's current size and limits at a glance. Choosing "Edit area in world" lets you place it directly: working areas are defined by clicking two corners with a live outline drawn as you go, while single-block slots such as the chest are set with a single click. This replaces the old hidden mode-cycling.
- You can now configure a ritual with the Configurator before activating it. As long as the rune layout is complete, the Configurator recognizes the ritual (and shows it as "Not yet activated") and lets you preset its areas and Spiritus aspect; those settings are kept when the ritual is later activated. If you rebuild the runes into a different ritual before activating, the preset areas are reset to that ritual's defaults so nothing carries over incorrectly.
Fixes
- Routing node connection beams now render reliably. A correctly connected input or output node could sometimes show no beam to the node it was linked with, even though routing still worked; the beam now draws as long as either end of the connection is loaded.
- The Ritual of the Meteor now correctly uses up its catalyst when it summons a meteor. The catalyst's stack would appear untouched even after a meteor was called down, so it looked like nothing was being consumed.
- Blood Stained Glass and the Hellforged Ingot can be made again; their furnace recipes had stopped working. Blood Stained Glass smelts from Sands of Vitae, and the Hellforged Ingot smelts or blasts from Raw Demonite.
- The Blood Orb's Sanguine Ward no longer raises when you right-click a block, so you can open chests, place blocks, and use items with an orb in your off-hand without the shield flickering up. It still raises when you hold the button while not aimed at a block.
- The Crystallum Fractura ritual once again speeds up the growth of nearby budding crystals, and now does so faster, so geodes regrow and stay harvestable instead of running dry after the first pass.
Compatibility
- The Crystallum Fractura ritual now harvests budding crystal clusters from other mods, not just amethyst. Applied Energistics certus quartz, GeOre crystals, Just Dire Things time crystals, and other amethyst-style geodes are all gathered when fully grown. Their budding blocks are grown faster while the ritual is active, and the ritual protects those budding blocks so they are never broken or worn away, keeping a geode producing indefinitely.
- The Ritual of Overgrowth now hastens the same range of modded budding crystals as Crystallum Fractura, including ones from mods that do not tag their blocks, and likewise protects the budding blocks from being worn away as they grow.
1.21.1-1.0.23Релиз1.21.1 · 24 июня 2026 г.

Changes
- The Tree Felling ritual now replants a sapling where each tree stood, using the saplings that tree dropped. If no sapling is available the spot is simply left clear, as before.
Fixes
- Fixed the Athanor's slot tooltips appearing over your own inventory. Hovering an empty inventory slot could show "Fluid Output" or other Athanor slot hints; those hints now only show on the Athanor's own slots.
- Active rituals now re-check their structure and stop if a ritual stone has been removed. Previously you could mine out the surrounding ritual stones and the ritual would keep running; it now ends once its layout is no longer intact.
- Fixed a crash that could repeatedly crash your world on load when a Sentient weapon with the Fire Resistance, Repair, or Battle Hungry upgrade was carried while wearing jewelry from other mods in Curios slots. The upgrade cooldown is now checked directly instead of through a path that some modded items could not handle.
Compatibility
- Added support for Sable (Aeronautics) airships and build plots. Rituals and the Ara Vitae now behave correctly when built on a moving ship or inside a build plot:
- The Ara Vitae draws blood from nearby players and self-sacrifice works again near an altar on a ship.
- The Ritual Reader and configuration tools now find ritual stones on ships and plots.
- The Collection ritual deposits its harvest into the linked storage instead of dropping it far away.
- The Speed ritual launches entities in the direction the ship is actually facing.
- The Meteor ritual lands its meteor on the ship rather than high above the world.
- Ritual particle effects now appear at the ship instead of streaming off into the distance.

Changes
- The Lex Vitae's beam now fires from a rebindable key instead of holding right-click, so right-click is free for your off-hand. You can now raise the Orb of Vitae's shield in your off-hand while wielding an active Lex Vitae. The key is unbound by default; assign it under Controls > Neo Vitae > "Lex Vitae: Fire Beam". Toggling the Lex on and off is still sneak + right-click.
- The Orb of Vitae's shield is now on a rebindable key (Controls > Neo Vitae > "Blood Shield"), bound to right-click by default so it works as before. Because it no longer relies on the right-click item action, it can be held at the same time as the Lex Vitae beam, and you can rebind it off right-click if you prefer. Raising it still needs an Orb of Vitae in your off-hand.
- The ore-processing items for iron, gold, copper, demonite, and netherite (fragments, gravels, and dusts) now use their own hand-drawn textures instead of the generic color-tinted ones. Other materials keep the tinted look.
- Updated the artwork for the Ritual Diviner and Ritual Diviner [Dusk].
- The Daemonium and Slime of Vitae spawn eggs now use custom artwork instead of the plain coloured spawn egg.
- The blood fill on the Veneficus, Magus, and Dominus Orbs of Vitae now lines up with their updated artwork.
- The Lex Vitae beam now has a mode toggle, bound to L by default (rebind under Controls > Neo Vitae > "Lex Vitae: Cycle Mode"). It cycles between Mining, Damage, and Both: in Mining mode the beam ignores creatures, in Damage mode it ignores blocks, and Both does everything. It starts in Both mode, and the current mode shows in the tooltip.
- Added a Lex Vitae entry to the guide book, covering its modes, the beam, mining radius, and inventory pickup.
- The guide book can now be placed on a lectern and slotted into a chiseled bookshelf.
- Added a Tabula Vitae recipe to inscribe the Curios Sockets upgrade tome, so it no longer has to be found or applied through commands.
- The Brilliance upgrade now goes up to level 6, granting up to +5 Armour and +10 Toughness; the guide lists the matching values.
Fixes
- The Seer Sigil now reveals an altar's or ritual's extra information from anywhere on your person, as the guide describes: your full inventory, inside a Sigil of Holding, or worn in a Curios slot. It previously only worked from your hotbar or off-hand.
- Spiritus souls worth nothing no longer drop. Killing a very low-health creature (such as the smallest slimes) could leave behind a soul holding 0 Spiritus; those kills now simply drop no soul instead.
- GeckoLib and Modonomicon are now marked as required dependencies on CurseForge and Modrinth, so launchers download them automatically with the mod. They were always required to run, but were listed as optional (or not at all), which could leave the game unable to start.
- The Lex Vitae beam sends the blocks it mines straight into your inventory, so nothing is lost at the far end of its range.
- Raw Spiritus now shows the correct artwork for each aspect (Ruina, Nihilum, Vindicta, Invictus, and Raw), matching its Spiritus soul. It was displaying leftover placeholder textures.
- The Crystallum Fractura ritual now harvests Spiritus Crystal shards from mature crystal clusters, instead of depositing the clusters themselves. The harvest also scales with the ritual's Fortune from local raw spiritus.
- The Curios Sockets added by that upgrade now display their slot icon instead of appearing blank.
- The Pin Cushion guide entry now correctly describes its effect: it reduces incoming projectile damage as it levels (up to 80%), rather than deflecting arrows.
