More Geodes!
With the addition of Amethyst Geodes in the Caves and Cliffs Update, I felt that Emerald Geodes would be a neat feature in addition to amethyst geodes. The idea of emerald geodes is to incentivize mining for emeralds, rather than trading for them and also provides less experienced players with a relatively intuitive way of farming emeralds. Since then, this mod has expanded to also include Quartz Geodes, Diamond Geodes, and Echo Geodes!
Emerald Geodes
Emerald geodes behave very similarly to amethyst geodes; they generate at high elevations throughout the Overworld, though they are most abundant in Mountain-type biomes. They are encased in calcite and smooth basalt casings underground and can grow emerald crystal buds. When these buds are harvested, they of course drop emeralds. This provides an automate-able alternative to emerald farming rather than just trading endlessly.

Quartz Geodes
Quartz geodes are a little more special. While their growth mechanics are identical to amethyst and emerald geodes, they generate exclusively in The Nether, and with tuff instead of calcite. Their buds also have a special oscillator property. When powered with an external redstone signal, they will pulse on and off, emitting a signal like a redstone clock! The frequency of these pulses increases as the crystal grows.

Diamond Geodes
Diamond geodes are best thought of as small goody boxes you will sometimes come across when mining. They have no budding block, so diamonds cannot be grown like in other geodes. They also only have one cluster type, which will drop 1 diamond when broken, scaling with fortune. Diamond geodes also generate flooded and with deepslate coal ore in place of calcite, as they are formed from carbon deposits in real life (and not in geodes, but hey its Minecraft).

Echo Geodes
Echo Geodes generate in the Deep Dark, and can renewably produce Echo Shards. They generate with an outer layer of blackstone, a middle layer of sculk, and an inner layer of the new Echo Block! Echo blocks, budding echo blocks, and all the echo crystals behave very similarly to their amethyst counter parts - except they echo whenever they make a sound!

Lapis Lazuli Geodes
Lapis Lazuli Geodes generate abundantly in deserts, and at shallow depths in the rest of the Overworld. Instead of Calcite, they have a middle layer of Pyrite (commonly known as Fool's Gold). Pyrite can be crafted in stairs, slabs, and walls, and even bartered with Piglins! Small Lapis Buds will drop a chunk of Pyrite when mined, so there is a reason to farm them over the clusters.

Gypsum Roses
Based on real-life Desert Roses, Gypsum Roses can be found on the surface of deserts and badlands, and grow to be much larger than other crystals. They can be harvested for their Gypsum Shards, which can be composted and craft sand. They can also be cut into a new decorative block set, or crafted to make the Crystal Locator!

Crystal and Echo Locator
The Crystal Locator is an item that can be used to help find geodes. When tuned to the correct Crystal type, they can be used to make any nearby crystal clusters or buds of the corresponding type glow for about a second and make a dinging sound. They are crafted using 4 Gypsum Shards and 2 sticks. The Crystal locator can be tuned to Amethyst, Emerald, Quartz, Lapis Lazuli, Diamond, and Echo geodes. There is also integration for Spectrum's geodes.
The Echo Locator is a more late-game version of the Crystal Locator. It is more tuned to the frequency of ores, and can therefore be used to help locate those pesky ores hidden just inside the wall of a cave or mineshaft.
Optional Datapack Addons
Two optional data pack add-ons can be installed with this mod. These add-ons can be downloaded on the Releases tab of this mod's GitHub here: https://github.com/TheDeathlyCow/more-geodes/releases/

Disable Emerald and Quartz Ore Generation
This does exactly as it says: it disables the generation of emerald and quartz ore so that geodes are the only way to obtain their respective resources (from mining, anyway).
Budding Blocks Silktouchable
This allows Budding Amethyst, Budding Echo, Budding Emerald, and Budding Quartz blocks to drop themselves when mined with silk touch!

Requirements
This mod requires Fabric API. If you are using Quilt, you must use Quilited Fabric API/Quilt Standard Library instead.

This is probably the biggest update for More Geodes since its release.
A Note about NeoForge
These changes are currently only implemented on Fabric/Quilt. I will get these onto Forge when I have time, though More Geodes Reforged will likely move exclusively to NeoForge for >1.20.1.
Geode Placement Overhaul
Many mod packs make use of cave biome mods that dominate the underground and make the appearance of many geodes very rare. Therefore, this update allows emerald and lapis geodes, which previously generated exclusively in a selection of surface biomes, to now generate in any biome. However they generate with a greater frequency in their 'home' biomes. The specific changes are as follows:
- Emerald Geodes now generate at high elevations in all overworld biomes
- Emerald Geodes now generate much more frequently in Mountains-type biomes
- Lapis Lazuli Geodes now generate in shallow depths in all overworld biomes
- Lapis Lazuli Geodes now generate much more frequently in Desert-type biomes
Crystal Locator and Echo Locator Overhaul
The Echo Locator was a fairly janky and not particularly helpful block. It has now been reworked into an item that provides a more useful function for its late-game status, and its old geode-locating functionality has been given to a new Crystal Locator.
- Added the Crystal Locator
- The Crystal Locator is crafted from Gypsum Shards, and must be tuned to the frequency of a particular Geode.
- The Crystal Locator takes damaged when it detects a geode
- The tunings for Crystal Locators are data-driven, and can be defined for geodes in other mods.
- More Geodes provides tunings for Spectrum out of the box.
- Reworked the Echo Locator
- Removed the Echo Locator 'variants' entirely from the game code
- Removed the Echo Locator block and block entity
- The Echo Locator is no longer used for finding Geodes.
- The Echo Locator now detects all ores, buds, and clusters within a 6-block radius of the player when used, and takes damage for each ore found.
- This is to allow you to get those sneaky little ores just hiding behind a couple of blocks of stone.
- The Echo Display no longer has weird z-fighting with the block it is highlighting
- Replaced the echo sound with something a little more charming
- The Echo Display now delays its time to glow based on the distance it was spawned from the player. This has the effect of the glow outlines 'pulsing' out like a radar wave when using the Crystal or Echo Locator.
Gypsum Block Set
A new desert-themed decorative block set has been added for Gypsum
- Added Polished Gypsum Block, Stairs, Slab, and Wall
- Added Smooth Gypsum Block, Stairs, Slab, and Wall
- Added Chiseled Gypsum
- Added Gypsum Pillar
Other changes and fixes
- Bismuth Geodes will now generate in the Crystal Gardens if Spectrum is installed.
- Added the cluster and bud blocks added by More Geodes to the respective Fabric conventional tags
- Fixed Gypsum Roses and Large Gypsum Buds not dropping Gypsum Shards when mining the top half of the blocks (#49)
- Fixed Piglins rapidly consuming entire stacks of Pyrite after their first barter (#52) -- Piglins now ignore Pyrite if they have seen it before.
- Fixed the 'Is there an Echo in here?' advancement not working due to a broken tag (by kingkuys2123 #39)
- Added Ukrainian translations (by unroman #36)
- Added Russian translations (by Tefnya #42)
- Added Norwegian translations (by Bloodaxe95 #41)
- Note that while these translations are just being released in this update, they were all made before the implementation of the above features and as such are already a bit out of date! Fun!

- Use a new echo display entity to highlight crystals with the Echo Locator
- Internally renamed the emerald/quartz/diamond geode blocks to emerald/quartz/diamond crystal blocks
- Removed echo locator variants
- These block removals and id changes should not affect old worlds. Generally speaking, worlds in this update will be backwards compatible with 1.7

- Added Certus Quartz Geodes (Requires AE2 - optional) (by Nerjal Nosk #30)
- Certus Quartz Geodes will only generate if AE2 is installed AND they are enabled in the config.
- Certus Quartz Geodes generate with an outer layer of Gabbro
- Gabbro is a new Igneous Rock material that will be used in all future instances for Geodes that use materials from other mods, like Certus Quartz Geodes, in order to help signify that the Geode is added by this mod and not the original mod
- Gabbro can still be obtained without AE2 by crafting together Diorite with Basalt
