Momentum for Automobility: Unofficial Port

This project provides unofficial Fabric ports of Momentum for Automobility by milkucha for Minecraft Java 26.x versions.

Momentum changes the driving feel of Automobility: Unofficial Port with smoother handling, braking, coasting, steering, drift behavior, camera behavior, cruise control, and a compact speed HUD.

This is an optional addon, but when used in multiplayer it should be installed on both the client and the server so vehicle input and movement state stay in sync.

This is an unofficial fork/port. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the upstream Momentum or Automobility maintainers unless stated otherwise by those maintainers. Please report issues for this port on this project's issue tracker, not on upstream support channels.

Current Versions

Public builds are published per Minecraft target. Current targets include Minecraft Java 26.1.x and 26.2 on Fabric.

Requirements

  • A matching Minecraft Java 26.x build
  • Matching Automobility: Unofficial Port build
  • Fabric Loader for that Minecraft version
  • Fabric API
  • Java 25 or newer

Optional

  • YACL for the in-game config screen

Status

This port is beta. Core driving behavior, HUD rendering, cruise control, brake/drift input sync, and the optional config screen are working.

Testing has been done together with Automobility: Unofficial Port in singleplayer and multiplayer Fabric environments. This does not guarantee compatibility with every modpack, so please include logs and a full mod list when reporting issues.

Unofficial Fabric port build of Momentum for Automobility for Minecraft Java 26.2. This build was smoke-tested locally with Automobility and Momentum together.

Unofficial Fabric port of Momentum for Automobility to Minecraft Java 26.1.x. This build was smoke-tested on Minecraft Java 26.1.2.

Added and Ported

  • Ported Momentum's vehicle movement changes, braking, coasting, steering behavior, drift profiles, camera behavior, and compact speed HUD to Minecraft 26.1.x.
  • Added cruise control on the C key while driving an Automobility vehicle.
  • Added cruise control HUD indication with compact chevrons and target speed.
  • Ported dedicated server key-state sync for brake and drift input.

Fixed

  • Cruise control disengages when braking, drifting, reversing, leaving the driver seat, or hitting a wall or vehicle hard enough to count as an impact.
  • Cruise throttle uses normal Automobility forward input instead of direct speed injection for multiplayer compatibility.
  • Cruise control HUD active color is stable and no longer flickers between throttle/coast states.

Added and Ported

  • Ported Momentum's vehicle movement changes, braking, coasting, steering behavior, drift profiles, camera behavior, and minimal speed HUD to Minecraft 26.1.2.
  • Ported client-to-server key state sync for brake and drift input on dedicated multiplayer servers.
  • Ported the optional YACL config screen. It is available only when YACL is installed.
  • Added cruise control on the C key while driving an Automobility vehicle.
  • Added cruise control HUD indication to the existing Momentum speed HUD, including target speed and active/coasting color changes.

Fixed

  • Cruise control disengages when braking, drifting, reversing, leaving the driver seat, or hitting a wall/vehicle hard enough to count as an impact.
  • Cruise throttle uses normal Automobility forward input instead of direct speed injection for multiplayer compatibility.

Known Limits

  • ModMenu integration is not included in this build.
  • This addon requires Automobility 0.5.0-unofficial.2 or newer on both client and server.
