Welcome to Irradiation!

This mods adds a catastrophe which hits in 11 in-game days. In order to survive, you need to prepare. Any living creature caught in the radiation caused by the catastrophe will die. That includes you.

There are 3 world irradiation stages:

  • Stage I: Normal mobs and players begin to die from radiation. Crops under the influence of radiation grow 66% slower. Irradiated mobs begin to spawn, normal mobs can no longer spawn.
  • Stage II: Irradiated mobs become stronger. Vegetation decays slowly: the world begins to turn into a one big desert. The sky becomes darker.
  • Stage III: Vegetation decays fast. The sky becomes even darker, the mobs become even stronger. Overworld radiation level becomes 2

How to survive

In order to survive, you need to craft 3 things:

  • An Antirad Suit,
  • A Radiation Suppressor,
  • A Suit Workstaion.

An Antirad Suit can be charged with redstone at the Suit Workstation. As long as suit's charge is above 0, you can walk around in radiation.

Radiation Suppressor does exactly what the name suggests - it allows mobs and players to spawn and survive in it's radius as long as it's powered by redstone and has enough fuel (which is also redstone). It can also be upgraded with suppressor upgrades. They can increase suppressor's radius, efficiency or fuel capacity.

A Suit Workstation is used to upgrade and charge your suit. You need suit upgrades to increase suit's radiation resistance or charge capacity.

Also, radiation destroys all vegetation that is not within safe zones, meaning your entire world will slowly turn into a badland.

With all that said, make sure to stock up on redstone! It is vital for your survival. Running out of redstone can cost you your world as you can get stuck in an infinite death loop, which can be broken only by entering creative mode!

You might say though: "but redstone isn't renewable!". For that reason, Particle Permutator exists. It can convert radiaton into redstone at a slow rate.

You can also try saving some animals by bringing them to a radiation suppressor before the catastrophe hits, however, once radiation is here, you must ensure the suppressor keeps running 24/7 or they will die.

Structures

Custom structures may be found in the world with exclusive loot. Be warned though: these structures usually have a higher radiation level, meaning going into them unprepared is a death sentance!

Configuration

Need more time to prepare? Is the particle permutator too slow? Or do you just want to change the fog's colors? In that case, this mod can be configured via configs.

Plans

As of right now, there is no way to get rid of the radiation once it's here. However, im planning to add some custom structures which can spawn only after the catastrophe hits. In these structures not only you'll be able to find exclusive upgrades and resources which become hard to come by, but also a way to cleanse the world of radiation.

NOTICE: This update is incompatible with worlds created on mod version 1.4 and below. Antirad suits will loose any upgrades they had.

  • Rewrote suit upgrade system from scratch. This makes adding new upgrades in the future 1000x easier.

Notice: starting from this update, radiation destroys vegetation. This means loading your old worlds with this version installed will slowly destroy all the crops that are not within safe zones.

NOTICE!!! Make sure to remove any contents of your radiation suppressors before updating as the contents will disappear upon updating the mod!
