What is Faunify?

Faunify adds a small collection of cute, tameable creatures to your Minecraft world!

Currently, Faunify adds 6 different creatures, all with unique AI mechanics, as well as over 15 ambient critters!

What Animals are There?

Weasels - A common mustelid that spawns in forests and plains. White, winter coat weasels can be spotted in snowy biomes! They are able to be tamed with raw rabbit, and can dig in gravel, sand, or dirt for resources if you drop an egg nearby! Two different types of Ferrets are also uncommonly obtainable by breeding two tamed Weasels!

Chinchillas - Cute, fluffy, and docile rodents that live in meadows in the mountains. They can be tamed with dandelions and bred with wheat. They are able to bathe in gravel and turn it into Dust, which can be dug up and used to throw at monsters to slow them down and blind them! They can also bathe in suspicious gravel, and have a 30% higher chance of sifting up rare items like armor trims, discs, and sherds! This only works on naturally-generating gravel, so go out in your world and find some treasures!

Fennec Foxes - An adorable, tiny species of fox that spawns in deserts and badlands. They are able to be tamed with raw chicken, if you can lure one close to you! Tamed Fennecs are weak, but can alert you to nearby monsters with their shrill barks.

Hedgehogs - Spiky little critters that live in the plains and forests! You can tame them with insect flesh, and they absolutely love pumpkin seeds! When hit they curl into a ball, and when touched they can give you a prick, so be careful around them! They drop quills every few minutes which you can shoot out of a blowpipe, and have some secret nametag variants!

Ringtail Cats - Rare and fluffy mining companions that live in wooded badlands. They can be tamed with rabbit feet and bred with cod or salmon! If you tame one and take it down into the caves alongside you, it can give you a handy Haste buff to help you with your mining journey! They can also make a special sound when they sense ore nearby, and tunnel through soft blocks like dirt or sand to unearth different ores!

Opossums - These merry marsupials can be found in meadows, forests, plains, and taiga biomes! They're untamable, but love to take care of their young, which can spawn on their backs! Baby opossums like to trail behind adults, and can even climb onto their backs! If you want to take one of these cute babies, you can either feed an adult opossum some sweet berries, or punch them off... (you monster!) Opossums love sweet berries and can even harvest sweet berry bushes, and can be bred with berries too! If at any point an opossum loses a large chunk of health, it will play dead... don't mistake it for sleeping!

There are even Ambient creatures, such as..

Mice - Adorable little thieves that spawn in forests that will sneak up on you to steal any seeds out of your inventory! You can breed them using sweet berries. You might even be lucky enough to get a rare breed-only variant!

Leaf Sheep - Adorable and squishy sea slugs found at the bottom of the ocean that are untamable and unbreedable, but can be a good source of slime balls!

As well as a massive array of different insects and other invertebrates!

What's Planned for the Future?

I plan to add a lot more cute animals to this mod, so keep an eye out for future updates! There are many more creatures I want to add, and I'm always open to suggestions!

An update to 1.21.1 is planned after all features I want in the mod are available for 1.20.1 first!

Update 10/2/2026

A new update has dropped! Please welcome the massive new 1.3.0 update which adds 13 new insect species, as well as loads of new changes, features, blocks and items!

A brand-new Wiki has also been published which you can view here. It includes information about the entire mod!
