This is the foundational mod for the Better Than Wolves: Remastered! (BTWR) modpack.

It overhauls and expands core Minecraft systems in the spirit of the original Better Than Wolves, while adding new mechanics, items, and challenges for a deeper survival experience.

✨ Key Features and Additions:

🧟 Creeper & Mob Mechanics

  • Creeper Shearing: Neutralize creepers with shears to acquire unique drops. Supports vanilla and custom creepers.
  • Knockback Rules: Only attacks with weapons/sprinting attacks (club, sword, bow, crossbow, trident) apply knockback by default.
  • Baby Zombie Spawning Control: Option to disable baby zombies entirely.

🍲 Food & Crafting

  • Expanded Food Selection: New meals like Hearty Stew, Chowder, Chicken Soup, Omelettes, Kebab, and more.
  • Diamond Plate & Armor Recipes: Optional recipes for crafting diamond armor using Diamond Plates.
  • Cut & Tanned Leather: Multiple leather types with corresponding recipes.

🛡️ Gameplay & Survival Tweaks

  • Creeper Explosion Adjustments: Explosions now calculate from the creeper’s eyes, giving more predictable outcomes.

🌳 World & Environment Enhancements

  • Mob Spawn Control on Wood: Prevent mobs from spawning on wooden blocks.
  • Spawn Capacity Tweaks: Optional increase in monster spawn capacity per chunk.

💻 Developer API & Configuration

  • Custom Textures for Sheared Creepers: Mods can provide sheared variants for compatibility with creeper shearing.
  • Configurable Options: Full integration with Mod Menu for intuitive singleplayer and client-side configuration screens.

  • The mod is officially in Beta now!
  • Added new blocks:
    • Block of Flint
    • Block of Diamond Ingot
    • Block of Creeper Oyster (and slab)
    • Block of Spider Eye (and slab)
  • Added blight!
  • Added a new api class BlightSpreadConditions. This can be used by developers who want to add compatibility for their custom blocks and define conditions under which blight can spread to a these blocks
  • Added new items Ocular of Ender and Ender Spectacles! Ender spectacles are now used in place of carved pumpkins to not aggro enderman when looking at them and also show positions where mobs can spawn if it's dark enough
  • Added head drops for players and certain vanilla mobs when killed. Normally this only scales with Looting, but it has compatibility for Better With Time's Battle Axe and also for BWT: Hardcore Tweaks's chopping block killing mechanic
  • Added custom sound events for creeper shearing!
  • Changed the diamond block texture to resemble more that of a diamond gem block (This is necessary since the diamond ingot block uses the vanilla one)
  • Changed the recipe for diamond plates to yield four plates instead of one to have an incentive to use them instead of normal diamonds
  • Changed how shears are applied as a correct tool to drop leaves blocks internally to allow for other modifications to happen smoother instead of just modifying leaves blocks loot tables
  • Changed the mod versioning scheme to semver.
  • Updated the mod to Fabric API 0.116.11, Fabric Loader 0.19.2 & BTWR: Shared Library 0.8.4

  • Fixed a bug that would cause the mod to crash when launching the game

  • Changed all configuration options in the mod to use the custom config library added by BTWR: Shared Library. This fixes the bug from last version that crashed the game without any warnings of the missing library that created the configurations
  • Removed Supermartijn642's config lib as the one creating configuration setting as it requires itself as a dependency to work properly

  • Fixed the server configuration options which I tried adding to Mod Menu since the previous update to only be accessible through modifying the config .toml file manually because they weren't working properly. While this might be theoretically possible I'm not sure of the technical details, so changing config options through mod menu for local worlds is not available yet

  • Added a new mod tag "NEUTERABLE_CREEPERS" which specifies which creeper entity types can be sheared. Developers can add their custom creepers to this tag to make them shearable.
  • Added a new class "NeuteredCreeperTextures" which allows developers to add sheared texture variants for their custom creeper.
  • Changed/Generally improved Mod Menu configuration option screens to better show how configuration options work
  • Changed all configuration options setting to be handled with Supermartijn642's Config Lib internally instead of Cloth Config API, which is used only for client side config options. Cloth Config is still used for creating all screens for access through Mod Menu.
  • Changed the creeper shearing modification to use Fabric Data Attachments instead of only using mixins.
  • Refactored pretty much the whole code; mainly for readability and cleaning up, but also so it's more in order with other mods from the BTWR project
  • Updated the mod to BTWR: Shared Library 0.63
