Create: BalancedFlight

This mod allows flight using the Ascended Flight Ring, letting you fly freely like in Creative mode. Alternatively, with rotational force, it enables limited-area flight based on the power provided. Use the Flight Anchor to define your flight zone.

This version updates the mod for compatibility with Create 6.0.x.

About the Mod

Create: Balanced Flight seeks to bridge the gap between early-game convenience and meaningful late-game progression. It’s designed to be the only flight mod in your modpack — no jetpacks, gliders, or competing rings — offering a balanced, Create-compatible flight system.

Two Flight Options

  • Ascended Flight Ring
    Grants Creative-style unlimited flight. Requires an Elytra to craft, making it an end-game reward.

  • Flight Anchor
    A rotationally-powered block that provides flight within a radius based on how much RPM it receives. Each 1 RPM gives 1 block of flight radius. Vertical flight is unlimited. However, the stress cost can be very high, requiring efficient setups.

Elytra Enhancements

To keep Elytra flight fun and relevant:

  • No Elytra durability loss
  • Take off from the ground with Elytra
  • Infinite “free” firework boost while sprinting and holding W
  • Crouch + C to launch into the air and begin gliding

These changes are fully configurable, and the Ascended Ring remains a high-cost item that modpack authors can balance as they see fit.

✨ Improvements & Compatibility

  • Improved mod compatibility with survival flight mechanics
    Removed the logic that forcefully disabled flying when it was granted solely by a beacon. This change improves compatibility with other mods that allow flight in survival mode without conflicting with Balanced Flight's internal checks.

  • Optimized beacon checks to reduce server load
    Beacon flight checks now run once per second instead of every game tick. This helps reduce unnecessary computations and improves overall performance, especially on servers with many players.

🛠️ Technical Notes

  • The creative flight ability is no longer forcibly removed unless it was granted by this mod directly (e.g., via Ascended Rings or Flight Anchors).
  • This change ensures smoother integration with other mods that grant flight under survival conditions (e.g., tech mods, custom gear, or status effects).

⚠️ Known Issues

  • The light beam (beacon effect) that appears above flight anchors in the Overworld may not render in other dimensions. This is a visual issue only — the beam is still being generated internally.

⚠️ Important Configuration Note

  • Currently, configuration values must be set manually and identically on both server and client sides. There is no automatic synchronization of config between server and client, so mismatched configs may cause inconsistent behavior or bugs. Please ensure the configuration files on both ends match.

✨ Added

  • Flight anchors can now be configured to work in specific dimensions. Previously, they only worked in the Overworld. A new config option allows defining in which dimensions they are allowed to function.

⚙️ Behavior

  • Flight anchors now allow flying based on their RPM (power level), even in other dimensions. Their core functionality is fully working as intended.

⚠️ Known Issues

  • The light beam (beacon effect) that appears above flight anchors in the Overworld may not render in other dimensions. This is a visual issue only — the beam is still being generated internally.
