Trims Overhaul [Limitless]

Grants every trim a unique set of powers, optionally through quests.

Lightweight datapack giving every trim a unique set of powers, optionally through quests.

Simply join a world with it enabled then equip a full trim to use its abilities. Run /trigger Trims_Menu.BLUE to open the main menu which'll allow you to "trust" certain players, read about what your trim does, and more.

Highly customizable. Can depend on an entire objective (questing) system, limit who has templates, disable the use of specific trims, adjust some ability functionality, or even just adjust how difficult some quests and tasks are, with plenty of features to help server administrators outside settings.

Should also be compatible with any datapack, resource pack, or even some mods, and every Minecraft version to officially have trims - all in a single file. Message me if you want compatibility with Minecraft Realms.

Installation Guides

------- Datapack & Resource Pack -------------------------------

  • Download the second file in the versions tab. (Should look like trims_overhaul-DP_RP-vX.X.X.zip)

  • For the datapack; Open your world folder (.minecraft/saves/world)
    • Drop the zip into the datapacks folder as-is
    • Then restart the server or world - /reload won't work
    • When updating: Do not disable the datapack or online players will lose progress. Close the server, delete and replace the datapack file, then reopen it.


  • For the resource pack; In Minecraft, go to Options > Resource Packs
    • Drag the zip file into your Minecraft window
    • Click the arrow on the new pack to enable it

  • Download the first file within the versions tab, then drag it into your mods folder (.minecraft/mods)
  • The .zip can also be renamed to .jar to use it directly as a mod

  • Any number of players can use any trims however they like now, instead of multiple abilities breaking if two players used the same trim
  • The trust system has also been remade, and is now properly stored on the player
  • Added "Ownership System" as a core setting, defaults to off and self explanatory
  • Some messages and settings are now changed to account for this, defaulting to simplicity but explanations favoring the old system.

Trim changes

  • Wayfinder

    • Removed: Traversal, Paired Locator, and parts of Explorer++
    • Explorer and Locator now work while holding spears, compasses, or standing on a few other blocks
    • Grapple can now be used on entities (pulls the user)
    • Increased Grapple collision size to work on the very corner of blocks
    • Increased the frequency at which Explorer is used, keeping effects more consistent
    • Removed the speed clear from stopping sprint
  • Silence

    • Removed: Serenity, and Blindness immunity
    • Darkness only applies while in combat, and no longer affects mobs with Weakness
    • Harvester is now 0-1 Echo Shards, with the setting now defining the maximum amount
    • Tracking and Amethyst particles no longer activate on spectator players
    • Vortex damage no longer scales with difficulty, now defaults to very slightly below Hard
    • New scale setting for Vortex on 1.21+
    • Increased Vortex armor reduction
  • Host

    • Exchange now works on untrusted players, and can no longer be used on players who recently swapped gamemodes
    • All golems spawned by Host will immediately be able to attack players
    • Removed Guardian granting nearby Iron Golems Strength, and reduced the maximum counter for golems by 1
    • Guardian now causes player-made Iron Golems to attack players
    • Golems spawned by others will only attack players if Guardian is activated near them
  • Coast

    • Added Fishing Streak: Large drop of fishing loot and bonus to other abilities, increasing based on days
    • Pirate now grants additional effects and works while riding in any boat
    • Updated fish death message to use the vanilla arrow death message
    • Improved Pufferfish projectile rotation upon spawning
    • Removed location requirement from Fisher
  • Dune

    • Archeologist now gives an additional loot pool of valuable items
    • Raisure damage now goes up by half as much but twice as fast
    • Increased Sandstorm duration
    • Increased Geyser duration and healing strength, but added a limit of 3 at once
  • Eye

    • Removed: Base Reveal (automatic glowing)
    • Added knockback to Disfigure
    • Added more death messages to Fear and Scare
    • Removed trusted players losing Fear faster

    • Removed: High Jump, and Weightless Field. Still has Slow Falling.
    • Added knockback to Void Plunge
    • Reversal and Impact Blast now work together
    • Sneak Reversal now has more use against Happy Ghasts
    • Replaced the throw limit and land restriction for Blast-o-Breath with a short cooldown and sneak-to-not-use
    • Increased the distance of low Guidance range, and spear punishment now works at low range
  • Wild

    • Removed: Nature's War, and Grounded
    • Grass Traps now work on azalea, normal moss, normal dirt, and mossy cobblestone
    • Sprout now works with pitcher & torchflower seeds, and requires sneaking
    • Reduced ambient particles on <1.21
  • Raiser

    • Added: Attunement: Slowly generate experience and steal it from others

    • Removed: Flaming Aegis
    • Added Withering: Natural Wither Skeletons have increased drops and a chance to empower your next hit against players (replaces Decapitation and Infliction)

    • Ghasted enchantment will no longer activate Cursed Deflect (now Nether Volley)
  • Shaper

    • Removed: Explosive Master (not Expert)

    • Increased Tidal Surge cooldown and reduced damage

  • Vex

    • Vulnerability now requires at least two axe hits to clear Absorption once
      • Also removed trust from this ability

    • Added: Parry: Blocking an attack within short period of using a shield will reward the user

Objectives / progression

  • Added "Objective Completion" as a child of "Objective Type", which prevents objectives from being registered as complete when completed, allowing multiple players to progress and/or obtain the corresponding trim
  • Trim synergy now requires the player to have killed a Wither
  • Slightly increased the cooldown on progressing Eye's task
  • Reduced the chance of Dune's quest "failing", but it now requires a second suspicious sand block
  • Wayfinder no longer has unique progression, its quest groups structures, and Mushroom Fields isn't a bonus
  • Raiser's quest progress now resets on death
  • Rib's quest no longer requires wearing a Wither Skull
  • The normal Creator music disc can now be used with Bolt's quest

Settings / systems

  • Setting visibility is now based on other settings, like Random Task Defender only visible if Objective Type is set to Tasks
  • Added small icons to the advancement guides, and updated their order to be more helpful for server settings
  • The "Template Clearing" system will now prevent item-drop enforcement if disabled
    • If Template Clearing is disabled, armor won't be transferred when dropped
  • Templates dropped on death will now be properly stored
  • Removed "armor controls ownership", and temporarily the "egg bonus" settings
  • Added a form of fallback in case another datapack breaks trim detection
  • Small organization optimizations to help mitigate the performance reduction from usage limit removal

Miscellaneous

  • Reversed the order in which logs appear, so most recent is at the bottom of chat
  • Added vanilla synergy to previously empowerable trims, with Amethyst working with Spire to give Quartz bonus
  • Removed trust effects from Vulnerability and Fear's reduction
  • Adjusted some sounds to make them more balanced, or quieter if they can be stacked like Gamble
  • Updated the descriptions of some abilities
    • Every ability message completely fits into maximum chat size in English
  • Sorted some abilities in info messages based on their importance, for easier use with a certain planned addition

  • One-tick projectile startup delay (projectiles should feel faster and more responsive)

Trims

  • Vex's Lunge will now cancel current momentum, making its range more consistent and helping with falls. Also added a setting to make it single-tap
  • Improved the functionality (and rotation) of Vex's Double-Strike
  • Wind Barrage returns excess Wind Charges upon activation
  • Flow's Wind Barrage and Gust will be slightly weaker if there's a block above the user (intended for caves)
  • Coast's Propel (empowered trident after kills) doubles the strength of Harpoon
  • Water and Lava cancel Spire's Void Plunge
  • Improved the placement and visuals of Grass Traps
  • Sentry's emerald bonus will only work if there's a Villager nearby
  • Slight tweak to the visuals of Host's Exchange, with a small increase to cooldown
  • Dune gets Haste when placing and mining sand to help with Raisure, and extended Novelty's Absorption duration
  • Spire activating Reversal cancels Weightless Field, and now works in creative
  • Added 3-4 new effects to Snout's Gamble, and made the lightning a chance per bolt
  • Tide's Tidal Surge can no longer activate when inside water
  • Kinetic Deflection will deflect most projectiles, including Shaper's TNT
  • Raisure, Loyalty, and Wither Skull now deal knockback based on projectile location instead of the user's
  • Added a few small effects to certain abilities/projectiles (projectiles being destroyed in opposite liquids, Overcharge reaching further in rain, etc)
  • Projectiles for Blast'o'Breath and Vortex are now (nearly) indestructible
  • Wild's traps and Sting now give proper kill credit
  • Added a custom death message to Silence's Vortex, and updated the others
  • Death messages for Piercer and Tidal Burst/Surge should now give credit in chat more often

  • Vex's Lunge will now cancel current momentum, making its range more consistent and helping with falls. Also added a setting to make it single-tap
  • Improved the functionality (and rotation) of Vex's Double-Strike
  • Wind Barrage returns excess Wind Charges upon activation
  • Flow's Wind Barrage and Gust will be slightly weaker if there's a block above the user (intended for caves)
  • Coast's Propel (empowered trident after kills) doubles the strength of Harpoon
  • Water and Lava cancel Spire's Void Plunge
  • Improved the placement and visuals of Grass Traps
  • Sentry's emerald bonus will only work if there's a Villager nearby
  • Slight tweak to the visuals of Host's Exchange, with a small increase to cooldown
  • Dune gets Haste when placing and mining sand to help with Raisure, and extended Novelty's Absorption duration
  • Spire activating Reversal cancels Weightless Field, and now works in creative
  • Added 3-4 new effects to Snout's Gamble, and made the lightning a chance per bolt
