(This project is in a beta stage. Models, textures, and triggernames are prone to change).
Have you ever wished that Minecraft was more traditionally fantasy? That the villagers you meet and entrap were more varied in design? Fret not, Mypowerbob's Fantasy Villagers is here!
A 'resourcepack-that-requires-mods' that'll let you transform villagers into a variation of different fantasy-staple species just by renaming them!
As seen on TV (And by TV I mean Youtube, which is kinda the modern TV anyway). Subscribe to my Youtube channel to see updates on this pack: https://www.youtube.com/@mypowerbob/featured
Features:
Multiplying all skin and hair colors with the biome outfits these are the total unique combinations for each species:
- 3465 variations of dwarves
- 3150 variations of gnomes
- 630 variations of elves
- 504 variations of orcs
- 84 variations of goblins
(This is excluding profession outfits and level indicators as those are things the player have control over)
Natural spawning! The fantasy races will spawn naturally in specific biomes respectively.
Dwarves: Frozen Peaks, Jagged Peaks, Snowy Plains, Windswept Hills, Windswept Gravelly Hills, Badlands, Eroded Badlands
Gnomes: Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Old Growth Birch Forest, Dark Forest, Mushroom Island, Mangrove Swamp, Swamp
Elves: Birch Forest, Old Growth Pine Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Sunflower Plains, Meadow, Cherry Grove, Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, Sparse Jungle
Orcs: Stony Peaks, Beach, Windswept Forest, Wooded Badlands, Desert
Goblins: Grove, Frozen Ocean, Stony Shore, Windswept Savanna, Savanna, Savanna Plateau
All other biomes will spawn vanilla villagers.
The baby problem: Following the natural spawning of each species is a probelm with breeding that, to my knowledge, cannot be changed. A villager recieves its species and biome skin based on the biome it's born in. This means, for example, that if you take two dwarves to the Savanna biome and then breed them, you will get a goblin child.
How to use:
Villagers must be named with a name tag to transform. There are two types of names you can give them. Either you can name them just as the species, which means they will have a random skin color:
- Dwarf
- Gnome
- Elf
- Orc
- Goblin
Or you can seperate them by geographical origin by giving them names similar to how vanilla Minecraft differentiates between biome varations of certain mobs.
These three words are:
- Cold for pale races
- Temperate/Temparate for tanner races
- Warm for darker races
With a space between the region and species name of course.
FOR EXAMPLE:
If you specifically want a green orc you would name it Temperate Orc (You can also use 'Temparate' in case you regularly misspell it like I do)
A pale elf would be Cold Elf, a dark gnome would be Warm Gnome, etc...
The names are also, luckily, not case-sensitive!

Certain variations of each species have a higher chance to appear than other variations. Dwarves are more likely to be young and bearded rather than old or shaven for example.
Wandering traders will spawn as a random species, they should have a near equal chance to be any texture.
You can also set a villager be the vanilla villager with the name 'Villager' (In case you want one in a biome where a fantasy species spawned)
Installation:
There are two options for installing this pack and getting it to work.
Option 1: Optifine.
The easiest and fastest way is to install Optifine.
Download and install Optifine here: https://optifine.net/home
Download the Fantasy Villager pack and place it in your Resourcepack folder.
Option 2: Non-Optifine.
If you're like me you're using some alternatives to Optifine instead. In that case there are some other mods you can install.
- Download and install Fabric: https://fabricmc.net/
OR download and install Forge: https://files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/
Download Entity Model Features and place it in the Mods folder: https://modrinth.com/mod/entity-model-features/versions
Download Entity Texture Features and place it in the Mods folder: https://modrinth.com/mod/entitytexturefeatures
Download the Fantasy Villager pack and place it in your Resourcepack folder.
Compatibility:
- Fresh Animations by FreshLX: This pack is not compatible. You can use it if you place my pack over it in the order, but you won't get the animated villagers.
- Any other packs that change the model and texture of villagers.
To do list:
Create custom textures for all different professions for Gnomes, Elves, Orcs, and Goblins
Create custom textures for all different biome types for Gnomes, Elves, Orcs, and Goblins
Add zombie variations
Add Pillager variations
Create more species?
Convert the whole thing to a mod with even more features than a resource pack is capable of
Thanks to:
- Intermet179 and their "Villagers With Arms" resource pack. Without this pack I would never have learnt how to give my villagers with arms, and even though this pack is no longer built upon Intermet179's pack, I'm still very grateful for it's existence. You can find it here: https://www.planetminecraft.com/texture-pack/villagers-with-arms-optifine-required/

2.2.2Бета1.21.8, 1.21.9, 1.21.10 · 3 января 2026 г.
What's fixed?
- Removed a line of code accidentally left in that broke the 'Cold Dwarf' triggername. Apologies for the inconvenience 🤦♂️
Original 2.2.2 patch notes:
- Villagers now spawn naturally in the world! This was added, despite my disinterest, due to very popular demand. Though given that this is only a resource pack this feature is very bare bones. There’s no custom buildings that would fit each species, and each species only spawn in one biome each to make sure each species, including vanilla, has a chance of spawning.
- The vanilla villager model can now be activated with the triggername “Villager”. Now that all races can spawn naturally I added this in case someone wanted regular villagers in an area they now don’t spawn in.
- Fixed a texture mistake where Wandering Traders had a blue texture on the underside of their hands.
- Rewrote the ‘weights’ for Wandering Traders (again!) so that every texture now has an even nearer equal chance of appearing, vanilla texture included!
- Fixed Elves with curly hair having the hair clip through the desert biome hats by placing the desert hat texture on the hat layer.
