Version 1.9.2 is on pause. There is active research that may end up discontinuing support for Polytone features in future versions.

What does this mean? It means this Stigmata (Angel's Weather) will continue to exist without Polytone, mainly as vanilla oriented. Its place will be taken by a True Stigmata.

What is a True Stigmata? This project is but a mere fragment of what it sought to mimic and reveal to you, Starchild. It is the very Creation, brought forth by Her Highness herself.

The future shines bright, and the True Stigmata is inevitable, though the hour of its arrival remains unknown. Keep your eyes open.

LICENSE CHANGES Greetings Starchilds, Just a heads up, all current and future Stigmata projects will be moving to a stricter license. This mainly affects any Creator who has modified any asset and distributed it publicly or in limited spaces, whether inside or outside of Minecraft.

The reason for this change is a rebrand I'm working on. All of my projects Minecraft and beyond, are going under the same umbrella, and I want to make sure everything is properly protected going forward.

The current license is CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0, and it's being upgraded to All Rights Reserved.

License Transition Note

Any files or versions released prior to v1.9.2 remain under their original CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 license if you were already working with those, nothing changes for you.

All new updates and releases from this point forward will be under All Rights Reserved.

What is a Stigmata Mirror?

A Stigmata Mirror is a creation of Selya, the Divine Seamstress of Realities. This mirror represents a fragment of reality itself. The more pieces you assemble, the larger the image becomes. What the full image reveals is a reflection of time, beauty, and your own place within it ~ a living, evolving part of the world.

SELYA is the embodiment of light, the CREATION serves as the mirror, and YOU are its reflection.

🎙️ Background & Recording Journey

All the sounds you’ll hear were captured during a 3-day journey deep in Mount Olympus National Park, where nature revealed its magic in the purest form. Armed with my Blue Ember XLR mic and Presonus Studio 26c, I spent hours recording rain, wind, splashes and soft breezes.

I traversed some harsh terrain and shifting weather to reach the right spots, recording nature’s voice from every angle.

What you’ll hear is just a glimpse of what I experienced out there. Hope it brings you even a fraction of the wonder it gave me.

Fixed Snow incompatibilities, shading issues and texture alignments.

Based on the latest version of Polytone, I had to make some tiny adjustments, including the following fixes:

• Fix missing sprites based on the new Polytone behavior

Snow Particles: • Inconsistent spawn height • Snow particles spawning in large underground rooms

Rain Particles: • Rain particles spawning in large underground rooms


This version only contains these fixes and does not include any features from 1.9.2 yet!

v1.9.1.1hf — Proximity-Fog Hotfix + Far-Fog Rework

Get ready for moodier, more atmospheric gameplay in your worlds.

The Hotfix

Redesigned the fog textures to stay pixel-art–inspired but feature more realistic shading, plus improved the logic behind fog movement and behavior.

The Rework

Reworked how the far-fog functions, it now uses the same logic as the proximity-fog. Fog thickness dynamically changes based on biome, game-time, and weather conditions. This substantially improves the synergy between far-fog and proximity-fog.

Other Updates

  • Tweaked badlands colors for a more realistic look based on real-world references.
  • Adjusted desert fog color to a hazier tone that better matches the sand palette.

v1.9.1 — Full Rework + The Whispering Frost (Part 1)

Yes, it’s big. Yes, things were rewritten. No, you don’t need to read every line unless you enjoy beautiful chaos.

The rework (summary)

All Polytone particle systems have been completely rewritten and visually overhauled. Performance and visuals both got a great upgrade.

Reworked mechanics

  • Proximity Fog (new) — Replaces the old fog system. Density and coverage are now fully dynamic, responding to time of day, biome, and weather. The fog feels alive, less obstructive, and actually useful.
  • Rain & Thunder (new) — Fully dynamic density and intensity based on time of day and weather. Rain is smoother, performs better than the previous iteration, and now behaves unpredictably in a good way, sometimes drizzle, sometimes mega-storms, sometimes lemons.

The Whispering Frost (Part 1)

  • New particle snow — Two variants: a small, fast-moving type, and a slower, more detailed type with 20 flake textures. Density and amount are dynamic based on time of day and weather.
  • Distant fog and sky colors — Updated for most cold biomes. Moodier and more consistent with the overall palette.
  • Snowy foliage variants — New snowy versions for grass blocks, grass, ferns, and two flowers. (More coming in Part 2.)
  • Spruce update — Spruce trees now have a slightly hazier green in their leaves.
  • Thicker snow layers — Subtly increased thickness for better visual presence.

Other updates

  • New color palette for the Pale-Garden biome — yes, it’s spooky enough.
  • Vanilla rain textures brightened slightly for improved visibility.

Fixes

  • Resolved incompatibility with the Particle Rain mod. You may need a capable PC to run both particle engines simultaneously.
  • Fixed visual glitches with the Super Duper Vanilla shader — now it actually looks as good as advertised.

What's New

  • Overworld Biome Fog/Sky Fog and sky now have their own color palettes that I created, no more frozen biome exclusivity. I made sure the palettes respect vanilla block colors and work well with other resource packs. I didn’t alter grass colors or vegetation to respect Minecraft's palettes and other resource packs, except for the existing slight tone adjustment in frozen biomes. One important decision I tried to balance well is between aesthetics and gameplay, some packs I've seen go too far with fog, affecting visibility. I aimed to avoid that.

Extra Info: I chose the color palettes based on a study I did using real-life photography from various respected artists (40+ photos per biome). The goal was to capture the synergy between real-world environments and Minecraft’s natural and building block palettes. I added my own artistic touch to keep a rustic feel across most biomes. Hope you like the results, and if you have suggestions, feel free to share them on my Discord server.

  • Reworked Clouds I didn’t expect to go through with this, but I finally reworked the clouds. They’re now based on the cloud formations and design style from my pixel art. If you use Polytone, you’ll also see my custom shading, so no more flat white clouds.

  • Cave Fog Visibility Fixed a visibility issue with cave fog in Dripstone Caves. Sorry for the inconvenience.

What's New

  • Refined Raindrops Colors are now smoother, noise is reduced, and there are fewer drops overall for a cleaner look.

  • Reworked Rain Sound System The rain sounds have been completely redesigned. They no longer behave the way they used to, including a large and diverse sound pool for more natural variation—expect a whole new beauty.

  • Reworked Thunderstorm Sounds Thunderstorms now have a totally fresh sound design, with a large and diverse sound pool for more natural variation.

  • Reworked Water Splashes Now animated and more playful. Adds more life to something so small yet pretty.

  • New Air Ambience Air ambience has been separated into its own system. It currently includes a small variation pool but will improve with future updates.

  • Fixed an issue reported by a user where the dripping particle interfered with the spore blossom ambient particle. (The solution was to revert to the vanilla particle since Mojang, for some reason, uses the same texture for two ‘different’ particle types… 🙄).
