Minecraft is a 3D game, so why is the font so Flat?

Whats the point of the font? This font is a modified version of "Smooth font - 32x" By apt9002, with inspriation from the "Shaded font" By Philliamm.

This font should work on all versions of the game
this font only changes the basic english and arabic numbers. more niche characters are only smooth, not shaded.
this font works with colors too! If you like the font, Use it! Download it, apply it above your other texture packs, and enjoy!
