Voidstain Hypoidol

A mod that adds 2-dimensional painting-creatures, and the ability to enter their homes.

Voidstain Hypoidol adds ELDRITCH PAINTINGS, which can be populated with HORRORS.

By feeding the HORRORS in the PAINTINGS, they will then produce 'QUALIA'.

This 'QUALIA' is inaccessible from the NORMAL WORLD, but can be collected by entering the HYPOVERSE, a 2-dimensional realm within the PAINTINGS.

Beware, no matter how much you feed them, the HORRORS are always hungry...


How to use:

Note: this mod is very unpolished and not currently intended for survival use, the behaviour listed below is planned to change in the future.

1 - Place the ELDRITCH PAINTING

2 - Use any of the following items to setup the PAINTING

  • Blaze Powder: change PAINTING's background
  • Ghast Tear: add a HORROR
  • Ender Pearl: Add a PORTAL connected to the same painting
  • Eldritch Painting: Add a PORTAL connected to another painting
  • Any Door: Create a HYPERGATE, and allow the PAINTING to be entered.
  • Fire Charge: Clear all Hypo-Entities
  • Sponge: Clear all PORTALs

3 - Use any FOOD ITEM on the painting to create a MORSEL, upon which the HORRORS shall feast.

4 - Watch the HORRORS produce 'QUALIA'.

5 - Enter the PAINTING to collect the 'QUALIA'.

6 - Remember, they are ALWAYS hungry...

Painting interactions

  • Allow clearing Eldritch Paintings via item interactions:
    • Fire Charge: clear all HypoEntities
    • Sponge: clear all portals

Painting entry adjustments

  • Eldritch Paintings can now only be entered through a matching HyperGate (one that exits at that same painting), rather than through any HyperGate on the canvas
  • Reduced collision size of the Eldritch Painting, so that the thin axis is thinner, and that the player hitbox must be (mostly) within the painting frame on the other two axes
  • When entering the Hypoverse, HypoPlayers will now be angled in the same direction they are sent moving in
  • Horrors can no longer eat HypoPlayers that have just entered the Hypoverse (cooldown is the same as with HyperGate entry)
  • Adjusted entry cooldown

Painting exit adjustments

  • Creative mode players can now exit the Hypoverse via the Sneak key, instead of the Drop Item key
    • Added a UI message to tell creative mode players how to exit the Hypoverse
  • Players exiting Eldritch Paintings are now placed with their center at the painting's center, rather than their feet
  • Adjusted exit cooldown

Hypoverse

  • Eldritch Paintings will no longer play portal noises to players inside of the Hypoverse
  • Players inside the Hypoverse are now invisible, unpushable, and immune to most damage
  • Players inside the Hypoverse can now load areas by themselves, rather than having to rely on those areas being loaded (on both server and client) by a painting near the actual player

  • Updated mod icon
  • Updated fabric.mod.json description and homepage link

Fixes

  • Improved handling of duplicate HypoEntity UUIDs
  • Improved networking consistency/correctness
  • Fixed Eldritch Paintings ejecting players at the incorrect angle
  • Fixed items in creative tab being ordered slightly incorrectly
  • Fixed HypoEntities serializing angles incorrectly
  • Fixed horrors sending fullness packets to the wrong zone watchers sometimes
  • Fixed creative players immediately rejoining the hypoverse after getting eaten
