TortMod - A mod where cakes are more than just food.
Tortmod 1.21.1 is here!
This mod adds many new cakes to Minecraft. You can get them in two ways: by mining new cake ores that generate in the world, or by crafting them from vanilla items.
Each cake does something different when you eat it. Some give strong buffs, others have unique mechanics or trade-offs.
A few examples:
- Ender Pearl Cake: Gives you the "Void Anchor" effect. If you fall into the void, it teleports you back to safety. It's basically a life insurance.
- Redstone Cake: Repairs the item in your off-hand by 5% durability. Useful if you don't have Mending.
- Chocolate Cake: Gives Speed II and Haste II. Much stronger than vanilla potions.
- Lapis Cake: Consumes your XP to give you powerful combat buffs.
- Winerr Cake: Has a small chance to "glitch" the game - shuffle your hotbar, damage items, or give random effects. Eat at your own risk.
- TNT Cake: When you eat it, a lit TNT block appears where you were standing.
Features:
- 40 different edible cakes (and raw versions).
- New ores that generate in the Overworld, Nether, and The End.
- A crafting system for non-ore cakes. You make flour, then a dough cake, and use it as a base.
- Villager Trading:
- Farmers sell delicious and buffing cakes.
- Clerics sell magical and dangerous cakes (like Ender Pearl or Magnet Cake).
- Masons buy your Raw Cakes for emeralds.
- New status effects like Magnetism (pulls items), Gold Rush (makes piglins neutral), and Hiding in Sands (invisibility on sand).

- new advancements: added economic and combat progress branches.
- secret challenge: a hard task is hidden in the combat branch. hint: it exists in vanilla achievements related to the nether in the game.
- compatibility: added tag
raw_cakesandcakes. the first includes all raw_ versions of cakes, and the second - all cooked ones (and dough cake too).

- fixed an error where smelting recipes for just_cake were not created.

- now any cake can be thrown by holding
shift + rmb. - direct hit: deals damage equal to 1 heart, and applies cake effects to the victim.
- miss: if the cake hits a block, an effect cloud is created (like a lingering potion). whoever enters will get a buff or debuff.

- villager trading: now your emeralds have a purpose.
- farmer:
- starts by selling dough cake and just cake.
- at higher levels offers carrot, melon, and cocoa bean cakes.
- at master level sells elite items: chocolate cake (speed and haste) and golden cake.
- cleric:
- buys rotten cakes.
- sells dangerous and magical items: magma, glowing, and redstone cakes.
- at master level you can buy void death insurance (ender pearl cake) and lucky cake. get your wallets ready.
- mason:
- now works as a raw goods buyer.
- buys all types of raw cakes (from coal to ender pearl cake) for emeralds. finally, a place to dump your extra ore.
- farmer:

it finally happened! after a year of silence, a new version of TortMod is out!!!
this is an almost complete port to 1.21.1 Forge (52.1.6). there are no villager trades and loot in structure chests yet - but i will release an update soon.
also i changed some mechanics, one absolutely NEW block appeared, and advancements were reworked.

While playing with my mod, I noticed that certain events were not occurring, such as ore generation, TNT spawning when eating the TNT cake, and more.
After reviewing the code, I discovered a critical issue that prevented ore generation and the events I mentioned above from happening.
In short, I fixed this issue (it’s more of an oversight than a bug). Now ores generate as expected, TNT appears when eating the TNT cake, and much more is now functioning properly!
I might be late with this fix, as the issue seems to have been around for a while, likely since the main mod class was rewritten. However, better late than never.
I apologize for my oversight and for this bug. It’s honestly a very silly mistake, and not noticing it was even more foolish than the mistake itself.
Added
- New cakes for the achievements related to collecting and eating cakes.
- Added the lucky_cake, which is ONLY sold by villagers (level 3 priest) for 6 emeralds. It currently has no effect, so save it for future updates.
