Survival Mode As It Should've Been
TerraFirmaCraft (TFC) is a total conversion mod that overhauls and reinvents survival mode. The goal of the mod is to create a believable, challenging survival experience, in a brand new immersive setting. It completely overhauls Minecraft world generation - from adding continents, to flowing rivers, to mountain ranges, to varied and diverse forests, flora, and fauna. Below is a list of some of the features of this mod:
- The underground has been completely reimagined, with layers of different types of rock, and massive sparse ore deposits of several different types.
- A fully fledged technology tree, from pottery and pit kilns, to charcoal production, producing iron with a bloomery, steel making and more.
- Seasons, weather, and a realistic climate and calendar model cause the player to need to stockpile food for winter to survive.
- The world is alive, with many different plants, wild crops, wild fruits, animals - both passive and predators - to find
- The player must manage their food's expiration, nutrition, and thirst using our detailed food and cooking mechanics.
In order to understand all of these new features, TerraFirmaCraft comes with a detailed in-game Field Guide, which is available from the moment you spawn in, and will guide you through the art of surviving in this brand-new world.

For Servers: In server.properties, You need to change the level-type to enable TFC world generation:

Warning
This update is expected to break any addons which add trees, including ArborFirmaCraft. If all goes well, I will have time tomorrow to release an AFC version that at a minimum won't crash, and at a maximum will take full advantage of the new rendering behavior for leaf blocks.

- Reworked how leaf blocks render when fancy graphics are enabled
- Rotate between 4 different seasonal models: bare branches, blooming, dense leaves, and sparse leaves
- Conifers, and deciduous trees grown in the wet tropics only rotate between dense leaves and blooming
- Deciduous leaf colors now vary by time of year, with brighter greens in spring
- Color changing/autumn colors are no longer tied to elevation in any way
- Borders between areas with different seasons are less harsh (for example, an area that is just barely cold enough to lose leaves in winter)
- Improved the texture for flower cuttings

Changes
Reworked large-scale terrain generation to mimic plate tectonics
- Each continent area will now be bordered by convergent or divergent boundaries
- These may be subduction zones, rift valleys, collisional mountain ranges, and ocean ridges
- Stratovolcanoes are limited to subduction zones, but other varieties of volcano remain independent of tectonics
Oceans
- All ocean biomes made deeper, with trenches extending to y = 0
- Atolls can now be found in tropical oceans and deep oceans
- Removed sand-bar style islands from generation
- Trenches are now found only in subduction zones
- Mid-Ocean ridges occur in the deep ocean
Island Chains
- Volcanic island arcs form in subduction zones
- Barrier islands/barrier reef chains form on the passive margins of continents
Karst Biomes
- Cenotes made larger and can have overhangs
- Tower karsts reworked to be larger with more diverse shapes
Volcano Changes
- New giant stratovolcanoes in a variety of shapes, made of layers of igneous extrusive rocks and tuff
- Stratovolcanoes replace the old cinder cones in mountain biomes
- Cinder Cones now occur in volcanic mountain islands, on shield volcanoes, in canyons, and in rift valleys
Carver Caves
- Made larger and rarer
Coastal Terrace Biomes
- Now generates slightly overhanging cliffs more consistently, instead of occasionally generating perfectly vertically
Rivers
- Large rivers now carve wide river valleys through mountains and other high elevation biomes
General
- Plains made flatter and lower
- Rolling hills made hillier
- Forest soil blending improved
- Make bamboo features less square
Mountains (Inland variants only, oceanic mountains unchanged)
- Generate in more solid ranges (less likely to be interrupted by plateaus etc)
- Generate more ridges and valleys, and fewer isolated peaks
- Made substantially taller
Rocks and Minerals
- Allow igneous intrusive to be present on the surface of volcanic regions
- Allow more metamorphic rocks to be present at the surface of uplift regions
- Allow cinnabar to generate in high-elevation rocks
- Extend the vertical ranges of several other ores to match new mountain heights
- Remove deep ruby ore, and move it to collisional mountains
- Add missing gem ore info to the field guide

- Crafted from jute fibers, these can be attached to a stalagmite or a Steel Rope Anchor and then thrown over edges
- The length of the thrown rope is based on the amount of rope items in your hand
