Official Server

Simply Cats will be hosted officially on a server that will be part of the server hub known as Purpura Skies! As of March 22, 2024, the modpack is being finalized, and the server will be made public soon. Join the Purpura Skies discord for updates!

Getting Started

!! All images represent the 1.16.5+ version of Simply Cats !!
The very first thing you want to do is craft yourself a pet carrier or two... or more! Pet carriers will not break and do not stack, but they will only hold one pet at a time so make sure you have plenty to bring your adopted cats home in! Cats do not follow you by themselves, so these pet carriers will keep you sane trying to get home from a village.

Now you can set out on your mission to find these adoptable cuties! In almost every village, you will find a new structure that we will call the Pet Shelter.

With this new building comes a new villager as well! You can easily tell them apart by their cute yellow smock with a golden paw print on the front.

This villager has extra special trades for you that will cost a certain number of raw fish or bones! 1.16.5: To access the cat or dog trades, you will first have to unlock level 2 trades with the shelter worker. There will be 2 new trades, randomly chosen between 4 sterilization potions, a cat carrier, or a dog carrier!   Cats from the villager trade are never spayed/neutered, so they will breed if given the opportunity to. Remember, the carrier these pets come from are only temporary and will disappear once you release the pet inside.

There are also a few shelter pets inside! 1-3 dogs and 1-3 cats, all available for adoption with this mod's adoption certificate. Crafted with one paper and one ink sac, you can use it on the cat or dog you'd like to adopt! Shelter pets are always spayed/neutered, which means they cannot breed.

  • Stray cats spawn in villages, witch huts, and around catnip crops. 10% of them are intact spawns!
  • Untamed, unneutered cats will despawn if not near a village, unless they have a manual home position override (or otherwise interacted with by a player)
  • Cats will lay down on beds and with the player when they sleep, there are 4 cute poses they will choose from randomly!
  • Cats who sleep through the night with their owner will leave them a Morning Gift
  • Creepers avoid cats and witches are pacified near them
  • Advancements! Just a few, they're cute. Can you achieve the Trap-Neuter-Return Veteran challenge?
  • Potted catnip, use catnip seeds
  • Cats will eat catnip crops and potted catnip for funsies
  • A new item for Farmers Respite compat, catnip tea!
  • Jade compat for breeding timers
  • Catnip is now a spring/autumn crop for Serene Seasons compat

  • Carriers can be used on untamed pets, now including vanilla cats
  • Admins/moderators can capture tamed cats with carriers, and damage them despite owner online status
  • Default wander radius set to 32
