Ripples of the Past

The mod is currently being ported to 1.21.1, with new mechanics and enemy encounters. Please look forward to the update.

Ripples of the Past is a mod based on the manga and anime series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure by Hirohiko Araki. It primarily focuses on supernatural powers from the show, currently they include Stands, Hamon and vampirism. The mod's main goal is to implement the abilities from JoJo into Survival gameplay in a way that gives the player more freedom and encourages creative use of their abilities, making them feel like a JoJo character.

Dependencies: The mod features new player poses and animations for some player actions. To enable them, install playerAnimator and bendy-lib.

Powers and ways to obtain them:

Vampirism

Vampires are extremely powerful creatures with lots of buffs, able to create an army of loyal zombies. They do not need food nutrients and instead rely on consuming the blood of living creatures to maintain their power. Their main weakness, however, is that, due to them being undead, they quickly die under the sunlight.

Vampiric powers are obtainable through a Stone Mask, which can be looted from jungle pyramids. A Mask will turn its wearer into a vampire when activated by blood (to do so, receive physical damage or hurt a nearby villager/animal). Also, player vampires can grant other players part of their power, turning them into weaker vampires.

Hamon

Hamon is an energy that can be created by breathing in a special way. Because of the properties of this energy being similar to sunlight waves, Hamon's primary use is to fight undead creatures, including vampires. However, it also has defensive and utility capabilities.

To be able to use Hamon, you need to find a teacher first. It can be a Hamon Master mob, residing in a Hamon temple in mountainous areas, or another Hamon user player. Hamon is a versatile tool with lots of various skills, but to learn them and make your Hamon strong, you'll need to spend some time and effort training it.

Stand

A Stand is a spiritual manifestation of a person's life energy. They are generally manifested as a character of their own, hovering near the user, however, in some cases, they can be bound to real-life objects or have no visible form at all. Each Stand possesses a unique set of abilities and has its physical limitations.

A Stand power can be acquired via a Stand Arrow, which can be obtained in two ways: the first is finding a meteorite in a snowy biome, mining its core with a diamond pickaxe, and using the scraps to craft an Arrow; the second is finding an Arrow in a desert pyramid.

As of version 0.2.2 of the mod, 7 stands are available in the base mod.

    • Is triggered by clicking the Restore terrain ability during the finisher punch windup - if the target breaks any blocks made of stone from the impact, and has less than 5 hearts, it turns into an Angelo Rock

  • Each Hamon technique now gives efficiency bonus to the base skills from specific skill branches:

    • Jonathan: +20% Overdrive
    • Zeppeli: +20% Flexibility
    • Joseph: +10% Overdrive, Infusion, Attractant & Repellent Hamon
    • Caesar: +20% Infusion
    • Lisa Lisa: +10% Infusion, Flexibility, Body Manipulation

    Some of the skills don't really benefit much from the efficiency buff, this will be addressed in one of the next updates

  • Changed the Breath control mask's effect Now, instead of increasing the speed of exercises, it enables the bonus to the breathing training level for training for multiple days in a row The exercises are now completed with the same speed they would be with the mask on before the update So, technically, with the mask the training is the same as before, the change lies in how the training works without the mask

  • Updated Hamon Beat, Sunlight Yellow Overdrive, Scarlet Overdrive and Hamon Shock (as well as vampire's claw attack and Pillar Man's heavy punch) with new player animations Credit for all the animations to @yujinsu

  • Tried fixing the bug when using a leap from a block edge would sometimes not trigger

  • "Stand offset side" client setting to swap your Stand between left and right side from you

  • Fixed the explosion effects from Stand heavy punches breaking blocks behind the Stand

  • Entities flying into walls from heavy punches now break blocks similarly to when you use heavy punch on a block

  • Adjusted the maximum Stand stamina formula to lower the gap between Stands with low durability stat and the rest of the Stands

  • Updated Spanish translation and added Venezuelan Spanish translation (by @tormakozxd)

  • Fixed player's head spinning sometimes when a player animation ends
