✨ Refined Enchanting

Stop rolling the dice. Start master-crafting.

A polished Vanilla+ overhaul that replaces random enchanting with level-up gear growth, a ‘pick-your-power’ master-crafting system, and a modder-friendly API.

📈 Level Up Your Gear

Your tools aren't static anymore. They gain Experience (XP) just by being used:

  • Swords & Bows: Gain XP by defeating mobs.
  • Shields: Gain XP by blocking attacks.
  • Armor: Gain XP by Dealing damage.
  • Pickaxes & Shovels: Gain XP by mining blocks.
  • Axes: Gain XP by chopping logs.
  • Hoes: Gain XP by Harvesting crops.
  • Fishing Rods: Gain XP by Fishing.

As your tool levels up, it unlocks the ability to hold more powerful enchantments.

💎 Pick Your Enchantments

Forget the random "spinning slot machine" of the old enchanting table. Refined Enchanting gives you control:

  1. Open the Table: Put your tool and some Lapis inside.
  2. Pick Your Power: You’ll see a list of every enchantment that tool can handle.
  3. Pay the Price: Each enchantment has a Tool Level Requirement and a Lapis Cost.
  4. No More Randomness: If you meet the requirement, the enchantment is yours. No surprises.

Refined Enchanting 1.0.0 - The "Choice" Update

Welcome to the first full release of Refined Enchanting! This mod completely reimagines how you upgrade your gear in Minecraft, replacing random chance with a deterministic, satisfying progression system.

🌟 Major Features

🔮 The Refined Enchanting Table

  • No More RNG: Stop gambling with your levels. The new Enchanting Table UI shows you a complete list of every valid enchantment for your item.
  • Pick What You Want: Want Sharpness V? Select it directly. If you have the resources, it's yours.
  • Wisdom System: Bookshelves are no longer just for level 30. They provide Wisdom, which unlocks higher tiers of magic. You need a better library to cast better spells.

⚔️ Tool Leveling & Progression

  •   Your Tools Learn: Items now gain Experience (XP) as you use them.
  • Leveling Sources:
  •   Mining: Gain XP based on the hardness/tier of the block.
  •     Combat: Dynamic XP based on the target's Max Health (1 Heart = 1 XP). Bosses grant massive XP!
  •     Farming: Harvesting fully grown crops feeds your hoe's knowledge.
  •     Fishing: Catching fish (and treasure!) levels up your rod. Anvil Gating: You can't just slap a Sharpness V book on a fresh sword. You need to use the sword and level it up first to handle that power.

� Stats & Bonuses

  •   Passive Upgrades: As your tools level up, they naturally improve. A higher-level pickaxe mines faster; a higher-level sword hits harder.
  •   Mastery: Reach the level cap (configurable) to achieve Mastered status, unlocking special visual flair.

🎨 Visuals & Quality of Life

🖌️ Beautiful Tooltips

  •   Level Badges: Distinct, colored badges (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Emerald, Netherite) show your tool's rank at a glance.
  •   XP Bars: See exactly how close you are to the next level right in the tooltip.
  •   Enchantment Descriptions: Hold Shift (configurable) to read exactly what an enchantment does before you buy it.

�️ HUD Improvements

  •   Crosshair Ring: A subtle XP ring around your crosshair shows progress while you play, so you don't have to keep opening your inventory.
  •   Notifications: Satisfying "Level Up!" toasts when your gear improves.

⚙️ Configuration (For Modpackers)

  •   Everything is Configurable: From XP weights for every single mob/block to the colors of the tooltip badges.
  •   Lapis Retention: Lapis now stays in the table by default (enchanting.retain_lapis = true).
  •   Compatibility: Works with modded enchantments and items automatically.
