RaySteal: The Ultimate Lifesteal Core

RaySteal is a complete Lifesteal Core plugin for Spigot & Paper servers, designed for Minecraft 1.21+. It transforms survival gameplay by linking player health directly to combat. Gain hearts by defeating your enemies, but be careful—losing a fight will cost you your own!

This plugin is designed to be a drag-and-drop solution for any server wanting to add a high-stakes Lifesteal mechanic.

❤️ Core Features

  • Heart Stealing: Slay other players to steal their hearts and increase your maximum health.
  • High-Stakes PvP: Losing hearts makes you weaker, creating intense and meaningful combat.
  • Unique Elimination System: When a player runs out of hearts, they aren't banned. They become a "ghost" in a purgatory-like state—weak and unable to interact with the world until a friend revives them.
  • Craftable Items: Craft powerful "Hearts" to permanently increase your health and legendary "Revival Totems" to bring your eliminated friends back from the brink.
  • Interactive GUIs: Use the Revival Totem to open a menu of eliminated players, or use /rs recipe to see how to craft the custom items.
  • Configurable Sounds: Every command and action has a configurable sound effect for immersive feedback.
  • Fully Configurable: Almost everything can be changed in the config files, from crafting recipes to sound effects and heart drop rules.
  • HD Texture Pack Ready: Full support for custom textures via CustomModelData.

📖 Commands & Permissions

The main command is /raysteal or /rs.

Player Commands (raysteal.use - default)

  • /rs help - Shows a clickable list of all commands.
  • /rs hearts [player] - Check your own or another player's hearts.
  • /rs withdraw <amount> - Convert your life force into physical heart items.
  • /rs recipe - Opens a GUI showing the crafting recipes.

Admin Commands (raysteal.admin)

  • /rs revive <player> - Revive an eliminated player.
  • /rs sethearts <player> <amount> - Set a player's max hearts.
  • /rs giveheart <player> <amount> - Give heart items to a player.
  • /rs setdeathloc - Sets the location where eliminated players are sent.
  • /rs reload - Reloads the configuration files.

🔧 Setup

  1. Drop the RaySteal.jar into your server's plugins folder.
  2. Start your server to generate the default configuration files.
  3. (Admin) Use /rs setdeathloc at the location where you want eliminated players to be sent.
  4. Enjoy the chaos!

RaySteal v1.0.3 - The Quality of Life Update

This update focuses on fixing critical gameplay exploits and making commands much faster to use.

✨ New Features (Command Aliases)

You no longer need to type /raysteal for everything! We've added direct commands for common actions:

  • /withdraw <amount> - Quickly convert hearts into items (Short alias: /wd).
  • /hearts [player] - Check health instantly.
  • /recipe - Open the crafting menu.
  • /revive <player> - (Admin/Item) Revive a player directly.

🛡️ Critical Fixes

  • Ghost Invulnerability: Fixed a major exploit where eliminated "Ghost" players could still take damage (void, lava, PvP). Ghosts are now completely invulnerable, preventing infinite heart farming.
  • Spectator Loop Fix: Fixed an issue where servers with hardcore=true would force dead players into Spectator mode. The plugin now correctly forces eliminated players into the custom "Ghost Mode" (Survival with Blindness).
  • Safety Logic: Added checks to ensure hearts are never exchanged if the victim is already eliminated.

⚙️ Technical Improvements

  • Tab Completion: Fixed the /raysteal command showing a random list of players. It now correctly suggests subcommands (withdraw, help, etc.).
  • Permission Privacy: Admin subcommands (like giveheart, setdeathloc) are now hidden from the tab-completion list for players without the raysteal.admin permission.

Safe to update from v1.0.0+ without resetting configs.

RaySteal v1.0.2 - Ghost Mode & Command Fixes

This update addresses critical gameplay issues regarding eliminated players and improves the overall user experience with commands.

🛡️ Critical Fixes

  • Ghost Invulnerability: Fixed a major issue where eliminated ("Ghost") players could still take damage from players, mobs, or the environment. Ghosts are now completely invulnerable to all damage sources, preventing them from dying again and dropping infinite hearts.
  • Lifesteal Logic: Added safety checks to ensure hearts are never exchanged or dropped if the victim is already eliminated.

✨ Improvements

  • Command Auto-Completion: Fixed the /raysteal tab completion. It now correctly suggests subcommands (like withdraw, recipe, help) instead of a random list of player names.
  • Permission Privacy: Admin subcommands (like revive, giveheart, setdeathloc) are now hidden from the tab completion list for players who do not have the raysteal.admin permission.

Upgrading: safe to drop into existing 1.0.x servers.
