Client-side Fabric mod that makes rare tropical fish easy to spot. Vanilla spawns the same 22 common varieties most of the time, everything else is rare, and this mod makes those glow and shows their pattern and colors above them.
Usage
- Rare fish glow. R cycles off / rare only / all tropical fish, and an optional filter glows only what you have not collected yet
- Name tags show pattern and colors above rare fish (N to toggle)
- Bucket tooltips show the actual fish plus Rare, Solid and NEW badges
- Fish collection screen (B): every variant per server, spotted or collected, with catch counts. Hovering buckets in chests fills in what you already own
- Everything is in Mod Menu > Rare Fish Finder
If you run Xaero's Minimap there are two extra options, both off by default: hide common fish from the minimap and world map, or hide everything except tropical fish so the map only shows what you are hunting.
Requirements
Minecraft 26.1+, Fabric API and Cloth Config. Mod Menu recommended, Xaero's Minimap optional.

2.6.1Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 19 августа 2026 г.
- Fixes MC-311215 before Mojang did: the vanilla stray fin lines on tropical fish. The pattern overlay is inflated uniformly, which gives the flat fins thickness in that layer and renders their edge faces as hair-thin lines, clearly visible on large fish. The overlay is rebuilt without inflating the flat axis. New Fixes tab, on by default, needs a restart to change
2.6.0Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 19 августа 2026 г.
- Fish color badges on tropical fish bucket icons: base color left, pattern color right, in the bottom right corner. One toggle, on by default
- ClientSort integration: sorting groups fish buckets by pattern, then colors in every sort mode, and two new orders, Fish: Pattern and Fish: Color, can be bound to Shift/Ctrl/Alt sorting in ClientSort's config
- Danish for the new options
2.5.4Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 19 августа 2026 г.
- Danish translation for the config and keybinds
2.5.3Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 18 августа 2026 г.
- Fix a crash on Minecraft 26.2 when pressing the collection key: 26.2 turned the Minecraft.screen field into a method, so the check now resolves by name and works on both 26.1.x and 26.2
2.5.2Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 18 августа 2026 г.
- Singleplayer collections are per world (keyed by save folder) instead of one shared file
- The variantless bucket in the creative inventory and recipe viewers no longer shows a fish tooltip or marks anything collected
- The collection screen only reveals a variant once you have collected it; the spotted tier is gone entirely
- The R toggle message mentions the only-uncollected filter when it is active, so filtered-out glow is never a mystery
2.5.1Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 18 августа 2026 г.
- Tooltip fish and badge line are left-aligned like the rest of the tooltip, and the badge no longer spills past the frame when it is wider than the model
- Collection cells split their base and pattern color evenly
2.5.0Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 18 августа 2026 г.
- Tropical fish bucket tooltips show the actual fish model at a side view, with Rare and Solid badges and a NEW badge for variants not in your collection yet
- Fish collection screen (default B): 12 pattern tabs with 16x16 color grids tracking spotted and collected variants per server, plus catch counts. Commons and solids are marked in the grid, and hovering buckets in chests fills in what you already own
- Glow has three modes: off, rare fish only, or all tropical fish (commons in muted gray). An optional filter stops already-collected variants from glowing, so only what you still need lights up
- Spotting name tags no longer follow the fish into the bucket item's name
- One jar runs on both 26.1.x and 26.2
2.4.1Релиз26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 · 15 августа 2026 г.
Everything since 2.0.0:
- Configurable glow color (2.1.0)
- Rare fish stay rendered and glowing at any client distance instead of vanishing at the size-based cutoff (2.2.0)
- Two optional filters for Xaero's Minimap and World Map, both off by default: hide common tropical fish, or hide everything except tropical fish. The options only show up when Xaero's Minimap is installed (2.3.0-2.4.1)
- The rare-variant check is shared by every feature so they can never disagree
