Prospect is a small world gen and utility mod meant to add some mining utilities, and fun new ways to get minerals

📖 Current Features:

  • Mining Helmets, a new dynamic light source
  • Prospecting Pickaxes, a new tool that lets you locate hidden ores that can also be upgraded to get new abilities
  • Panning, a new mechanic that spawns spots on water (or lava, in the Nether) that can be harvested for resources using Pans

Prospect 1.0.0

  • Additions:
    • Panning
      • Panning is a new method of obtaining chunks and nuggets of ore by using a Pan on water (or lava in the Nether when using a Netherite Pan)
      • Identify spots where panning will work by looking for sparkly particles on the surface of water
        • More likely to occur in different biomes
      • Biome will affect the items received
        • Example: Mesas/Badlands will be more likely to have gold
    • Prospecting Pickaxe
      • Prospecting Pickaxe is a new way of finding ores underground using a specialized tool
      • The tool is crafted with iron, and by default has a 12 block search radius and will tell you a vague sense indication of what is nearby. Any exposed ores will have a small particle effect and sound that plays
      • You can slot 2 separate gems into the tool to give it unique abilities, some even synergize with each other
        • Quartz - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, locks its search to a single ore type. Sneak+click an ore to set the lock, sneak+click anything else to clear it.
        • Diamond - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, prioritizes rarer ores over the nearest one when multiple are in range
        • Emerald - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, reveals how many connected ore blocks are in the same vein
        • Lapis - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, spends 5 XP points to reveal exact directions to the ore. No XP is spent if nothing is found
        • Amethyst - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, makes the ore ping audible through walls
        • Topaz - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, makes the ore glow with a shimmering light, visible through walls
        • Ruby - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, shows the exact distance from you to the ore, instead of a vague hint
        • Sapphire - When socketed into a Prospecting Pickaxe, increases the search radius by 8 blocks
    • Mining Helmet
      • New wearable item that provides light when worn
      • Can be dyed similarly to leather armor
      • Can be toggled on/off with keybind
    • New Gems
      • Sapphires
        • Primarily found under cold biomes
      • Rubies
        • Primarily found under dry biomes
      • Topaz
        • Primarily found under jungle biomes
    • Gunpowder Fuse (Placeable Gunpowder)
      • Places like Redstone and carries a signal that can ignite nearby TNT
      • Ignited by nearby fire sources, or by clicking with a flint and steel
      • If you have a gunpowder line and you click in the middle of the line, it will spread equally outwards to surrounding gunpowders
      • Disappears entirely once burned
    • Minecart Jumping
      • Allows the player to charge a jump while in a minecart that pulls them off the rail temporarily, re-railing on tracks they land on while preserving momentum
