Requirements

  • Minecraft: 1.21.1
  • Loader: Fabric
  • Java: 21+
  • Requires: Fabric API and Cobblemon
  • Cobblemon: 1.7.3 or higher recommended
    • Cobblemon 1.7.0+ may work, but versions below 1.7.3 have not been fully tested.
  • Multiplayer: install on both server and client instances for proper multiplayer functionality.

Getting Started

Open the transformation GUI with the assigned hotkey (editable in keybinds), or:

/disguise gui

Or use command-based transformations:

/disguise lucario
/disguise charizard shiny
/disguise arcanine form=hisuian
/disguise pikachu scale=0.6
/disguise nickname Guardian
/disguise clear

The GUI is the easiest way to browse Pokémon, forms, properties, Favorites, Random, and Live Preview options. Commands remain available for quick use, server scripts, and advanced players.

The PocketMorph GUI

The main GUI is built around a visual-first workflow:

  1. Search for a base Pokémon.
  2. Pick a form or variant.
  3. Preview it live.
  4. Adjust properties such as shiny, gender, scale, nickname, or displayed level.
  5. Transform, favorite it, or roll something random.

The Live Preview supports mouse controls:

  • Left-drag: rotate
  • Right-drag: pan
  • Mouse wheel: zoom
  • Middle-click: reset preview
  • Ability Filter button

NEW Randomize Feature: PocketMorph Random Tab

Self-Battlers

PocketMorph now adds a self-battler system. When enabled, your transformed Pokémon can be synced into your party and used in Cobblemon battles!

By default, the key to open the battler panel is the right-arrow on your keyboard, but can be edited in keybinds.

The Battler panel provides quick access to common actions, including:

  • add/sync/remove battler;
  • rescue tools;
  • held item and cosmetic item actions;
  • battle camera toggle;
  • Use Item support for right-click-style items such as compatible TM disks.

PocketMorph includes safety guards to prevent self-battlers from being lost through storage, release, trade, or unsafe battle states.

Pokémon-Inspired Abilities

Depending on the current Pokémon form and server config, transformations can receive gameplay touches such as:

  • flight for flying forms;
  • water breathing and swim help for aquatic forms;
  • fire resistance and lava movement help for Fire-type/fire-resistant forms;
  • land speed boosts for fast grounded Pokémon;
  • mining Haste for Ground-type Pokémon;
  • unarmed damage bonuses based on base Attack.

These features are configurable so servers can choose how powerful transformations should be.

Rayquaza Ruins

Built for Multiplayer and Modpacks

PocketMorph is designed for Cobblemon multiplayer environments. Other players can see your Pokémon form, scale, labels, riding state, held items, and battle-related visual state.

It also includes compatibility-focused handling for:

  • addon/resource-pack forms;
  • Mega and special forms;
  • unusual model shapes;
  • sparse animation sets;
  • camera/raycast/throw-origin edge cases;
  • server progression rules.

Lucario First-Person

Server and Pack Controls

Server owners and modpack makers can configure:

  • Pokédex requirements: any / seen / caught;
  • creative-mode bypass;
  • species whitelist and blacklist;
  • shiny restrictions;
  • scale limits;
  • transformed hitbox behavior;
  • ability strength and movement tuning;
  • self-battler availability;
  • riding rules;
  • client/server visual defaults.

Generated configs include plain-English descriptions, defaults, ranges, and warnings for settings that can affect performance or gameplay.

Compatibility Notes

  • Camera mods may conflict with PocketMorph’s camera adjustments. Client config options are available if needed.
  • Very large scale values can reduce FPS or make gameplay harder to control. Server scale limits are configurable.
  • Mounted accessories/backpacks are intentionally hidden for compatibility with accessory mods that use custom renderers.
  • PocketMorph is intended for Cobblemon-based modpacks and should be installed on both the server and client for multiplayer.

2.2.0Релиз1.21.1 · 14 июля 2026 г.

PocketMorph 2.2.0

PocketMorph 2.2.0 adds new ways to browse transformations, improves movement and camera handling, and includes several performance and compatibility improvements.

New ability filters

The Base Pokemon menu now includes a filter button with the following options:

  • All
  • Favorites
  • Can Fly
  • Can Swim
  • Lava-Safe
  • Fast Land
  • Slow Land
  • Ground Mine

Filters can be combined with the normal search box, making it much easier to find a transformation that fits what you want to do.

Filter results account for available forms, server settings, and installed Cobblemon addons and resource packs. Capability data is prepared progressively and cached per server so later uses of the selector are much faster.

Controlled lava swimming

Eligible fire-resistant transformations can now move through lava with proper directional control:

  • Use normal movement controls to steer.
  • Hold Jump to rise.
  • Hold Sneak to descend.
  • Eliminated the annoying drift movement that happened when no movement input is given.

The existing lava movement multiplier now controls both horizontal and vertical movement speed.

PocketMorph also hides the burning model effect and first-person fire overlay when the transformed player is protected by PocketMorph's fire-resistance ability.

Battler HUD improvements

  • Added a client-side hotkey to show or hide the PocketMorph Battler HUD outside battle.
  • The preference is saved between sessions.
  • The Battler controls remain available during battle.
  • Added automatic compatibility with newer Cobblemon Battle Extras versions that place party icons along the left side of the battle screen. When that interface is detected, PocketMorph uses a compact arrow-only tab to avoid covering it.

Camera and transformation improvements

  • Greatly improved third-person camera behavior for small transformations around leaves, bushes, fences, panes, and other partial blocks.
  • Removed the rapid zoom-in/zoom-out effect that could make third-person movement disorienting.
  • Solid terrain still receives strict anti-x-ray protection.
  • Improved camera, hitbox, and nametag synchronization when switching from a very large transformation to a very small one.
  • Corrected Pokéball throw origins across very small, ordinary, and very large transformations.

Performance and stability

  • Improved selector loading and capability processing for large modpacks.
  • Added a persistent per-server selector cache so unchanged servers do not need to rebuild the full capability catalog every session.
  • Reduced unnecessary transformed-player render lookups and idle Battler checks.
  • Improved compatibility with addon forms and resource-pack overrides without relying on Pokémon-specific allow-lists.

These changes should reduce PocketMorph's performance impact on servers with higher player counts immensely (about 80% performance improvement over 2.1).

  • improved compatibility with other updated Cobblemon-related mods, specifically those used in the new Cobbleverse 1.7.40 modpack.
2.1.0Релиз1.21.1 · 26 июня 2026 г.

PocketMorph 2.1.0

PocketMorph 2.1 adds server-side administrative transformation commands, multiplayer transformation cries, expanded ground-movement scaling, more accurate preview capability badges, cleaner Battler feedback, and further performance and release-stability improvements.

New: Server Administrative Transformation Commands

  • Added server-authoritative commands for transforming, clearing, and checking the transformation status of online players.

  • Commands can be used from the dedicated server console, command blocks, or by authorized administrators.

  • Added the following primary commands:

    • /pocketmorph transform <player> <Pokémon target>
    • /pocketmorph clear <player>
    • /pocketmorph status <player>
  • Added shorter compatibility aliases:

    • /disguiseplayer <player> <Pokémon target>
    • /undisguiseplayer <player>
  • Transformation targets support Cobblemon species, forms, and compatible property strings.

  • Administrative transformations can apply shiny state, gender, form, size, scale, and other supported Pokémon properties.

  • Commands validate species names, properties, and configured scale limits before applying a transformation.

  • Administrative transformations bypass the targeted player’s normal Pokédex unlock requirement, allowing server events, scripted encounters, minigames, and moderation tools to assign specific transformations.

  • Transformations remain server-authoritative and are synchronized to the targeted player and nearby clients.

  • Clearing a transformation also cleans up associated movement, Battler, persistence, and synchronized client state.

  • Active Self-Battler battle protections remain enforced.

  • Command access requires operator level 2 or the permission node:

    • pocketmorph.admin.disguise.others

New: Transformation Cry Hotkey

  • Added a configurable keybind for manually playing the cry of your current Pokémon transformation.
  • Cries are validated and synchronized by the server so nearby players can hear them, and play positional audio.
  • Supported idle cry animations can play while stationary.
  • Added a server configuration option for enabling or disabling manual transformation cries.

New: Ground Movement Scaling Modes

  • Added a configurable ground-movement system with three modes:

    • OFF
    • LEGACY_FAST_ONLY
    • ALL_BY_BASE_STAT
  • LEGACY_FAST_ONLY preserves PocketMorph’s existing Speed-effect behavior for qualifying fast Pokémon.

  • Added an option allowing otherwise eligible flying, aquatic, and other transformations to receive the legacy grounded land-speed boost.

  • ALL_BY_BASE_STAT adjusts every transformation’s grounded movement speed using the resolved form’s base Speed stat.

  • Faster Pokémon can receive increased ground movement, while slower Pokémon can receive reduced movement.

  • Added configurable neutral Speed, minimum multiplier, and maximum multiplier values.

  • Ground-speed adjustments apply only while appropriate grounded movement conditions are met.

  • Added separate status icons and tooltips for increased and reduced movement speed.

Fixed

  • Fixed supported flying Pokémon and forms sometimes missing their Flight badge in the transformation preview.
  • Fixed normal held-item and cosmetic interactions producing overly verbose technical chat output.
  • Fixed failed item interactions potentially being accompanied by a misleading early success message.
  • Fixed avoidable PocketMorph mixin warnings appearing during startup.

Preview Capability Improvements

  • Preview capability badges are now resolved authoritatively by the server.
  • Capability results are form- and property-aware rather than relying only on the selected base species.
  • Improved badge accuracy for Pokémon and addon forms whose capabilities are defined through behavior data.
  • Fixed Flight badges being absent from previews for supported floating, levitating, or behavior-defined flyers, like Mew and Aegislash.
  • Preview capability results are cached and refreshed efficiently when the selected Pokémon, form, or properties change.

Battler and Item Feedback

  • Simplified normal player-facing messages for Self-Battler actions.

  • Held-item and cosmetic actions now provide clear confirmations such as:

    • held item equipped or removed;
    • cosmetic equipped or removed;
    • item rejected because the current Pokémon cannot use it.
  • Removed internal UUIDs, save paths, component data, persistence details, and other implementation information from ordinary chat.

  • Unsupported or failed item actions no longer display a premature success confirmation.

  • Detailed technical reports remain available when enableDetailedLifecycleLogging is enabled.

  • Applied the same concise-message treatment to Battler add, sync, remove, rescue, status, permission, and party-capacity responses.

  • Completed Use Item actions retain their existing action-bar feedback without unnecessarily filling chat.

Performance and Diagnostics

  • Reduced normal gameplay overhead from PocketMorph’s internal performance profiler.

  • Performance profiling is now disabled by default and avoids timestamp/counter work while inactive.

  • Added explicit profiler controls:

    • /disguise debugperf enable
    • /disguise debugperf disable
    • /disguise debugperf reset
  • Retained detailed diagnostic tools for troubleshooting without exposing them during ordinary play.

  • Removed obsolete development-stage and internal build identifiers from runtime interaction messages and diagnostics.

Stability and Release Cleanup

  • Removed an unused mixin reference-map declaration that produced an avoidable startup warning.
  • Resolved a helper-method naming conflict between transformed camera-position and eye-position mixins.
  • Improved release metadata and centralized PocketMorph’s build identity.
  • Cleaned up startup and runtime diagnostics for clearer server logs.

Configuration Notes

Existing configurations are preserved where possible.

New movement and cry settings are added automatically to the PocketMorph server configuration. The default movement mode preserves the legacy fast-Pokémon behavior unless the server owner explicitly selects ALL_BY_BASE_STAT.

Detailed lifecycle logging remains disabled by default and should generally be enabled only while troubleshooting.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1
  • Fabric
  • Java 21 or newer
  • Fabric API
  • Cobblemon 1.7.x
  • PocketMorph must be installed on both the server and participating clients for multiplayer use.

Upgrade Notes

  • Replace the previous PocketMorph JAR on both the server and clients.
  • Do not leave multiple PocketMorph versions in the mods folder.
  • Existing transformations, Favorites, Self-Battler records, and server configuration should continue to load normally.
  • Server owners using custom movement settings should review the new ground-movement options after the first startup.
2.0.1Релиз1.21.1 · 12 июня 2026 г.

PocketMorph 2.0.1

Fixed

  • Fixed the main transformation GUI appearing blurred or unfocused in Fabric setups with no/few visual mods/shaders.
  • The GUI now suppresses vanilla screen blur for PocketMorph’s transformation screen only, while keeping PocketMorph’s custom background and shell intact.

Notes

  • No gameplay, configuration, transformation, or any other behavior was changed in this update.
  • This is a small visual hot-fix recommended for all 2.0.0 users.
