Physically simulated weather in Minecraft, beautiful, huge, turbulent, realistic

All storms (scenarios) are physically simulated, and accurate to real life physically accurate storms

Full charge separation simulation for realistic lightning activity lightning simulation

Physically accurate sky, atmosphere physically accurate sky

Wide range of atmoshperic phenomena included wide range of atmospheric phenomena

Accurate polar radars accurate polar radars

Installation guide:

  1. Install Protomanly's Weather 0.16.4
  2. Install this addon
  3. Download simulation pack from here: https://github.com/odvigajlo/PMWeatherCM1/releases/
  4. Put all simulations in .minecraft/config/pmweather/simulations (if those folders are missing, create them)
  5. Allocate atleast 4GB of RAM in launcher to avoid OOM errors
  6. Enjoy! Wait for storms to spawn naturally or use /pmweather spawn scenario

RTX 3060+ is recommended for comfortable performance, if using worse GPU higher downsampling is needed

Known Issues:

LAN and Multiplayer may be unstable, they havent been fully tested!

Other addon support or mod compatibility not guaranteed!

Skylight modification

Skylight level that terrain and world surface recieve is now affected by clouds overhead and transmittance value that shader returns

New Visuals

Replaced billinear interpolation upscaling with depth aware bilateral upscaling for volumetrics

Removed bilateral blur on volumetrics

New denoising techniques for volumetrics

Weakened blue shadowing for clouds

Larger transmittance distance for clouds

Weakened ambient lighting on clouds, direct sunlight dominates way more

Improvements to evening color palette

Added FBM noise to clouds

Changed sun and moon angle

Light fun!

Beacons now emit light which is scattered producing really beautiful beams at night, clouds and precipitation scatter light more making beams more visible

Added laser pointer, can be configured to have custom color and intensity, follows similar logic to beacon beams but can be pointed anywhere

Swaying Foliage

Grass, flowers, other foliage blocks now sway in wind

Doesnt work with sodium, sorry, but sodium support would mean constant maintenance of mod, which i dont really want to do

New Lightnings

Fully rewrote most of lightning visual backend

Better shapes, vertical strikes, horizontal

Better fading and time progression

Lightning mesh is now fed into shader for accurate volume glow

Daytime lightnings now have flashes

New Moon

Moon now has phases and new high resolution textures

Power Flashes

Powered redstone dust, and some other blocks (comparators, repeaters, lamps ect) now spark, produce electrical buzz and bright blue-green flash when destroyed by wind

Redstone dust block was nerfed, starting from 15m/s wind speeds it can be destroyed

Dynamic Cloud Coverage

There are weather cycles now that determine cloud density, thickness and coverage based on daytime, world seed and month

New /pmweather ambientclouds command to manipulate ambient clouds

Replaced Minecraft sky with Nishita multiscattering sky model

New blocks

Atmosphere sensor, outputs redstone signal when detects scenario, hail, lightning near, sends redstone signal to one of sides, each side represents different detection type

Siren, same as tornado siren in base mod but powered by redstone

Updated balloon platform

Now balloon platform can hold weather balloons and have auto launch schedule set up

Rewrote most of Java side rendering code and big part of shader code to make rendering more stable, this should fix faulty lerping between frames and occasional flickering when 2 scenarios active, as well as issues for some GPUs

Fixed lightnings producing thunder audiable up to 80000 block distance causing dead storms to "thunder"

New lightning system that uses updraft speed and precipitation regions to estimate lightning frequency and strike regions similar to real life

Added sounds for rain and hail hitting glass blocks

Support for zlib compression and other compression in scenarios

30 new scenarios (new scenario pack is required)

Scenarios now have energy categories, in low instability environmenets low cape scenarios will spawn, in medium instability medium cape scenarios same for high

Scenarios carry metadata for type, depending on month different storm types will dominate over others, seasons off defaults to may chances

Scenarios now have movement metadata that allows them to move in accurate direction and speed
