Introduction

Malum is a dark magic mod centered around spirit arcana; a dark study of soul magic. It's divided into several interpretations of the strange field of magic, which the player will explore through the use of the Encyclopedia Arcana, a strange journal written by an unknown author.

The codex will provide you with everything you need to get started. The codex is very open ended, allowing players to choose their own path. Malum offers little restriction to the order in which any player does things. You're free to prioritize whichever parts of the mod interest you most.

Natural Wonders

Not every color of magic is so grim and dark. Runewood Trees are a mixture of nature and magic, fitted with bark made for magic and a complete set of wood blocks.

The mod also adds plenty of underground ores for you to find, cthonic gold, soulstone, natural quartz.. and even more that I'll leave up to you to discover.

Spirit Magics

Functioning as the core system to utilizing spirit arcana, Spirit infusion is a magical process through which the player will create all sorts of miracles.

Spirit focusing is another powerful system that will accompany you in your daily life. The magic allows you to materialize new resources out of thin air using raw spirit matter.

Through spirit magics you'll be able to create a lot of new and exciting gear. Trinkets, armor, tools, weapons, and even more.

Each trinket and armor set provides it's own unique effect, some even offering some synnergy potential.

Totem magic allows you to utilize spirit arcana for various unique effects, each spirit has it's own rituals it allows you to utilize.

There's lots to Malum, these are only just a few things I decided to showcase. I encourage you to try the mod for yourself, and see what else it's hiding.

Added the missing Soul Stained Steel Scythe Arcane Restoration Recipe

Added missing recipes for Repairing Weeping Well Gear using the Repair Pylon

Added the missing Warp Flux Block

The Sundering Anchor can now only hit a single target up to five times and will return early if it cannot find any other valid target afterwards

The Sundering Anchor Projectile no longer deals double the intended damage

Big Boner Necklace in the Works

Updated Spirit Entity Behavior and Visuals When Spirits are created without the help of a player they will now enter a passive state

  • While in this passive state, spirits will slowly fall towards the ground, becoming an actual item upon collision
  • Passive spirits can still be collected by a player however the range is much shorter and requires line of sight with the player
  • This should hopefully allow for a more innate and automation-friendly behavior

Updated Several Rune Effects

Rune of Idle Restoration -> Rune of Vitality

+Passive Healing -> +20% Healing Received

Rune of Culling

+20% Scythe Proficiency -> +Scythes Exploit Wounds

Rune of Reactive Shielding -> Rune of Protection

+Damage Resistance when Struck -> +20% Armor

Rune of Sacrificial Empowerment -> Rune of Farsweeping

+Scythe Kill Chaining -> +Deadlier Scythe Sweeping

Rune of Toughness -> Rune of Indomitability

+20% Armor Toughness -> +100% Knockback Resistance

Updated Some Geas Effects

Pact of The Liveweaver:

  • Added Passive Healing Effect no longer present on the rune

Pact of Reciprocation:

  • Now only applies to Magic Damage as was intended

All Magic Damage in Malum now pierces Half of the Armor Value as opposed to All of It. Magic Damage still does not damage Armor despite this change. This can be disabled using a config option

Updated the textures for the Alchemical Calx Block Updated the textures for the Catalyst Lobber

Removed the entire Spirit Ritual system that utilized the Ritual Plinth

  • It was nowhere near the ideal state I now imagine Spirit Rituals to be, and was causing some issues so I figured that since I'll end up replacing it in the future I might as well remove it now.

  • Added a config option to control the maximum length of the Malignant Stronghold Scarf

  • Condensed the two Blighted Blocks into one
