Ichthyology is a Minecraft mod that adds many new fish and other aquatic animals to the waterways of your world! While these fish are largely ambient, different ones can have interesting behaviors, ranging from Carp begging for food to Piranhas stripping the flesh off undead mobs! All animals in the mod are based on real-world species. A complete list of animals and where they are found is below!

- Added Blind Cave Tetra
- Spawns in all Overworld caves below Y-level 30
- Can be brewed into a Potion of Blindness
- Added Goldfish
- Spawns in all Forest biomes, Plains, and Cherry Groves
- Wild variants spawn in Forest biomes and Plains
- Rare Domestic variants spawn in Cherry Groves
- Goldfish can be traded for from the Wandering Trader

- Spawns in all Savanna biomes and Deserts
- Has four variants
- Princess of Burundi Cichlids, which can form schools of 10
- Saulosi Cichlids, which have a male and female variants
- These can form schools of three to seven, with a max of one to two males
- Kasanga Chichlids, which can form schools of eight individuals
- Added Carp
- Spawns in all Forest biomes, Plains, and Cherry Groves
- Wild variants spawn in Forest biomes and Plains
- Rare Domestic variants spawn in Cherry Groves
- Carp can be traded for from the Wandering Trader
- Carp are attracted to the player when the player holds seeds
- Carp can be fed seeds, which can rarely cause them to drop a Shiny Scale
- Shiny Scales can be brewed into a Potion of Luck
- Carp can be fed an Enchanted Golden Apple or Dragon's Breath to transform them into rare variants that don't spawn naturally
- Added Piranha
- Spawns in all Jungle biomes
- Cooked Piranha gives a short Strength buff when eaten
- Attacks all Zombies and Zombie Horses
- On killing a Zombie or Zombie Horse, a Skeleton or Skeleton Horse will appear
- Attacks any entity with weakness, slowness, or are at half health or lower
- Piranhas cause slowness when they hit an entity
- Piranhas can eat items in the water
- Added Perch
- Spawns in Rivers and Swamps
- Comes in two varieties
- Common Perch spawn in Rivers
- Yellow Perch spawn in Frozen Rivers and Swamps
- Hunts any entity smaller than itself
- Can eat items
- Can eat and destroy fish and amphibian eggs
- Added Discus
- Spawns in all Jungle biomes
- Added Angelfish
- Spawns in all Jungle biomes
- Angelfish like to hide in aquatic vegetation
- Added Neon Tetra
- Spawns in all Jungle biomes
- Side strips have an emissive texture when light enough
- Group together in large schools
- When attacked, these schools will break up before reforming
- Added Pleco
- Spawns in all Jungle biomes and Swamps
- Can be fed Moss Blocks to cause them to Frenzy
- Frenzying Plecos can strip logs, and remove moss from mossy variants of blocks
- Can sucker onto glass, logs, and stone blocks
- Added Archerfish
- Spawns in Mangrove Swamps
- Will spit at any arthropod it sees
- Archerfish spit can cause weakness and slowness
- Added Mudskipper
- Spawns in Mangrove Swamps
- Can walk on land
- If two Mudskippers are on land together, they can enter a territorial display
- Mudskippers can roll in mud or clay, leaving behind clay balls
- While they can be on land, they must return to water to breathe
- Added Crayfish
- Spawns in Rivers, Swamps, all Badlands biomes, and all Overworld caves under Y-level 30
- Has four variants
- Noble Crayfish spawn in Rivers
- Red Swamp Crayfish spawn in Swamps
- Yabby spawn in all Badlands biomes
- Cave Crayfish spawn in all Overworld caves under Y-level 30
- Crayfish will pinch any entity that gets too close
- If at low health, they will start to panic
- Added Catfish
- Spawns in River biomes
- Can be fed Crayfish to breed
- Only Baby Catfish can be bucketed
- Baby Catfish meat is cookable and safe to eat, while adult Catfish meat is poisonous
- Catfish can suck smaller mobs into their mouth
- Catfish will hide in sea grass during the day, swimming freely at night
- Added Peacock Bass
- Spawns in all Jungle biomes
- Peacock Bass can be bred with Ground Fish Meat
- Peacock Bass will attack any entity smaller than itself
- Peacock Bass will become aggressive if eggs are nearby
- Only Baby Peacock Bass can be bucketed
- Added Gar
- Spawns in Swamps
- Can be bred with Pleco, Carp, or Perch
- Gar Roe is poisonous to eat
- Gar will attack any entity smaller than itself using short bursts of speed
- Only Baby Gar can be bucketed
- Added Fiddler Crab
- Spawns in Mangrove Forests
- Fiddler Crabs can wave at the player and other crabs
- Can climb up blocks
- Can burrow into mud and sand, with the eye stalks visible
- Can be picked up and held, allowing the player to reach further when placing or breaking blocks
- Added Sturgeon
- Spawns in Rivers, Frozen Rivers, and Deep Cold Oceans
- Can be bred with Ground Fish or Raw Crayfish
- When killed, Sturgeon will drop Sturgeon Roe
- Sturgeon Roe can be crafted with Bread to make a Caviar Sandwich
- Caviar Sandwiches can give a brief regeneration effect when eaten
- Only Baby Sturgeon can be bucketed
- Sturgeons will occasionally dig up treasure or trash from the fishing loot table
- Added Olm
- Spawns in Dripstone Caves
- Comes in two variants
- Black and White Olms
- Can be bred with Cave Crayfish
- Will only lay eggs on Dripstone blocks or Calcite
- Olmspawn can be crafted into an Olmlette
- Added Flowerhorn
- Can only be traded from Wandering Traders
- Highly aggressive, and will kill any other entity it sees
- Added Ground Fish meat, crafted from any raw fish item
- Added Chum Bucket, crafted from Ground Fish Meat, a bucket, bread, and rotten flesh
- Right clicking water with a Chum Bucket will consume the Chum Bucket, but spawn a random assortment of fish from the biome
- Added Fish Sticks, crafted from cooking Ground Fish Meat
- Added Caviar, crafted from bread and two Sturgeon Roe
- Added Olmlette, crafted from two mushrooms and Olmspawn
- All vanilla fish can now rotate when swimming
- All Ichthyology fish can be fished in the proper biomes
