The pack had been sitting at the March 2025 version of Cobblemon data, and a lot has changed in Cobblemon since then, most importantly the whole riding system got rewritten. Every one of the six paths the pack replaces has been regenerated against Cobblemon 1.7.3.

Riding

This was our first GitHub issue. The old species files carried a pre-rewrite riding.controller block, and current Cobblemon silently ignores that shape, so no Pokemon in the pack was actually mountable. Every rideable Gen1 Pokemon now uses the current riding.behaviours schema and mounts correctly, fossils included.

There were also 8 species that upstream Cobblemon left stubbed out with a null behaviour (scaffolded but never wired up). Those are now filled in so the pack is actually more complete than base Cobblemon in this one small way: Mewtwo, Starmie, Staryu, Dragonair, and Weezing float on air/hover; Dratini and Omastar swim with liquid/dolphin; Pidgeot was already fine once the audit caught its composite land+air setup. Total rideable count is now 48.

Gen 1 Purity

Previous versions kept Mega forms, Gmax forms, and Partner Pikachu attached to Gen 1 species, on the reasoning that they're still variants of Gen 1 Pokemon. This release drops them, along with Alolan, Galarian, Hisuian, Paldean, and Valencian regional forms. The pack is now base Kanto only.

Cross-generation evolutions got cleaned up too. Eevee only branches into Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Flareon. Slowpoke only evolves into Slowbro. Farfetch'd, Mr. Mime, Stantler, Yamask, and Corsola no longer list their Gen 8 evolutions. Orphaned feature toggles that used to expose regional aspects in the UI (galarian, alolan, hisuian, bull_breed, region_bias, etc.) are also gone.

Misc.

Advancements jumped from 476 to 753 files because Cobblemon added a lot of new progression categories over the past year. Spawn pools went from 146 to 147 to match current upstream coverage. Fossil loot is still pure Gen 1, with Gen 3 through Gen 8 fossil items (root, claw, skull, armor, cover, plume, jaw, sail, and all the fossilized_ items) rewritten to Gen 1 fossils and evolution stones. That extends the same pattern from the original pack's fossil patch commits.

The pack_format is still 48, which is current for Minecraft 1.21.1. The filter block in pack.mcmeta is untouched. The non-filtered Cobblemon paths (pokemon_interactions, marks, species_features, ride_settings, behaviours, pokerods, and similar) continue to inherit from base Cobblemon without modification, since nothing in those paths can cause Gen 2+ leakage on its own.

• Remove random Gen 2+ evolution items from dig loot

You can still spawn in other fossils, and other evo stones will generate in ores. However, reviving a Gen 2+ fossil will give you a seemingly random Gen 1 mon.
