🌱 Garden Trails

A lightweight plant-focused mod introducing a variety of new flora, the Silk Moth and its unique silk crafting process, as well as decorative potted plants and upcoming iron pergolas and lattices with climbing plant support.

This vanilla-friendly mod blends naturally into Minecraft and pairs especially well with Dawn of Time. It combines exploration and discovery through new plants, with creation and craftsmanship around silk production — and more features to come in future updates.

Plants

  • 11 new plants (with their wild versions): Boxwood, Camellia, Commelina, Cypress, Geranium, Grapes, Ivy, Maize, Maple Sapling, Mulberry, Rice
  • Silk feature: Silk Moth entity, Drying Tray block, Stick Bundle block, Silk items (including silk itself!)
  • 8 potted plants: Camellia, Commelina, Cypress, Geranium, Grapes, Maize, Maple Sapling, Mulberry

Iron pergola block

The pergola is back in a new formula : the iron pergola! This block is now going to handle the climbing plant feature we removed from wooden pergola in Dawn of Time. We decided to make it in iron to avoid the Everycompat variations multiplying the amount of blockstates (saturating the ram). The block got reworked and optimized!

  • The pergola support the Grapes, the Ivy and the Vines. Use the plant at the base of the pergola and let it grow!

How to obtain silk ?

  • Find the mulberries in the flowery forest or taiga.
  • When the mulberry is fully grown, there is a chance that a Silk Moth spawns.
  • Kill it to obtain silk eggs that you can hatch with mulberry leaves in the drying tray.
    You can collect mulberry leaves by hitting the base of the plant.

Yet Another Config is no longer needed

  • Removed YACL3 dependency: the config is now a simple txt file in the config folder
  • The config now exposes a per-plant biome list, allowing full control over where each plant spawns in world generation
  • Reworked the tooltip/lore system: entries now use the lore.gardentrails.* format and support dynamic references to other item or block names
  • Updated all the tooltips, making the pergola, drying tray and silk process way more explicit

Fixes and Cleanup

  • Added a whole new inventory sorting system, ordering each plant/items/pots correctly
  • Fixed the issue with the double crops not being able to properly receive bone meal
  • Fixed the issue making the silkworms not growing on the stick bundle
  • Fixed the issue making the silkmoth crashing the game
  • Fixed all strange textures (white/black overlay) with a lot of plants, drying tray and pot (fabric only)
  • Removed the social media buttons from the GUI
  • Added BiomeColorHandlers on both Fabric and NeoForge for proper tint support
  • Improved Camellia and Cypress Leaves textures (reduced file size, better clarity)

dawn of time patreon rewards

New Ingame Patreon rewards, skins!

  • 3 new skins for the drying tray: Silver, Golden and Amethyst. I have removed the craft for now, I will implement the Patreon tier system in a later update. This element still need to be better integrated into the game

New Plants & potted variation

  • Geranium: 5 new color variants added: Orange, Purple, Purpleish, Red and White
  • New potted geranium variations: Orange, Purple, Purpleish, Red and White

Plant Improvements

  • Camellia: now colors itself dynamically based on the biome's foliage color. The texture reacts to jungle greens, savanna yellows and taiga tones
  • Geranium: leaves are now tinted by biome foliage color, giving each color variant a natural feel in its environment
  • Improved cypress texture to make it better match the savanna color tone, added more leaves to the texture to make it more thick
  • Removed the tint color on the cypress flower pot

️ World Generation & Biome Redistribution

Plants now spawn in biomes that better match their real-world origins. The flower forest is no longer overloaded and now only hosts true flowers.

Spawn Balancing

Plant spawning has been tuned to feel more natural and less cluttered across all biomes.

  • All plants now spawn 50% less frequently and in smaller groups. Patches are roughly half the size they used to be.
  • Geranium Pink and Wild Maize spawn 70% less often. They were appearing far too frequently and have been brought down to a more reasonable density.
  • Red Maple is now a rare encounter. It spawns 90% less often and always appears as a single tree.

Bug fixing

  • Fixed broken Mulberry lootable, the block couldn't drop anything
