Ever wish you could bring more love to all those animals across your world? A lonely slime deserves some affection.. your dog needs more pets..

Well now,

Pet the Frog has expanded to include all friendly animals!

You can pet dogs, cats, sheep, cows, sniffers, (small) slimes, and so many more!

Simply right click (or use the keybind! on) any animal and watch them send little hearts of affection with a little animation~

Fully Customizable!

As of 1.21.5, and 26.1+, all vanilla pettable entities have animations! These can be customized via a Resource Pack, by creating an animation of the entity with GeckoLib's Animation BlockBench Plugin!

This also allows for modded entities to have animations added, as well as the heart particle's offset modified.

Note: Since this uses a custom-built animation system, the bones of Models need to have their original Java names! These are not always the same as the CEM/Optifine model part names.

Note: Some interactions work slightly differently with right click: Certain animals have their own right click interactions that need to be preserved, and to do so, some animals are interacted with slightly differently:
  • Striders, when they have a saddle on, can be crouch right-clicked to be petted
  • Parrots must be crouch right-clicked, and if you hold down right-click while crouching you are able to pick up your parrot onto your shoulders just like before
  • For Rideable horse-like mobs, you crouch right-click to pet them, and hold down crouch right-click to enter their saddle inventory.*
    • This applies to Horses, Mules, Donkeys, Llamas, and Camels
  • Tamed dogs and cats can be pet simply by right clicking, and to toggle their sitting/standing status, you crouch right click.*

*Required serverside for this functionality prior to 5.0. if not present, the animals will toggle sitting/standing regardless of being pet

Original Mod Ever look at a frog and think, "hm, I wish I could squish those cheeks and make it croak..."

Well now you can!

Simply right clicking on any frog with an empty hand will let you pet those little slimy heads and make those boios croak and ribbit all night long!

Major Update 5.0!

Adds:

  • Keybind Support! A long requested feature has finally been added, allowing you to pet using a keybind of your choice! You can even fully disable right-click-to-pet if you choose.
  • Cloth Config and Mod Menu Integration: You can now change settings such as cooldown, ignored mobs, and more from within a config menu in Mod Menu
  • Petting Takes Priority on Servers: It's no longer required to have the mod on the server if you want to pet a cat or rideable mob without actually interacting with them! (note: this only applies to right-click petting)
  • Leashed Mobs are Pettable! If you have a horse, frog, or whatever leashed to a fence, you'll now still be able to pet them as usual!

Re-implementation of the animation system, improving stability and solving a lot of bugs from the previous version.

Known Issues!

  • some entities have animations that no longer work on their baby variant due to the 26.1 tiny takeover update. They can have separate animations, but (afaik) the models have not been ported to Blockbench yet, so I can't easily rework the animations for the baby versions.
  • Sulfur Cubes the block inside of them cannot be animated. This is the same problem that the Mooshroom runs into, as it's an actual BlockModel, which does not have the same render pipeline that allows for animating.

Complete Petting Overhaul!

The mod is now wholly data driven. Particle offsets are now decalred via .json files provided by resource packs.

Animations for all!!

Every passive pettable mob now includes an animation by default! And, even better, the animations are ALSO data driven, allowing users to add custom animations through resource packs to either override the default ones, or add new ones for modded entities.

Keep in mind: these are not CEM/Optifine animations! They are based on the Blockbench JSON animation format. This makes it compatible with GeckoLib animations. Bones of the entities need to be named exactly as they are defined in-game, otherwise they won't be played. (e.g. "left_leg" not "leg_left")

This is a massive rework, so I expect there to be bugginess, so for now it remains in beta

2.3 Hotfix

  • Fixed a crash that occurred due to incorrectly implemented interfaces on Dolphin entities (and potentially Goats)
  • Was particularly a conflict with Create
