Using Mod Menu and YACL allows you to customise styles, color, and toggle features of the mod at any time
Why a mod and not a resource pack?
Using a mod allows support for custom resource packs features - meaning you can still change item models and the glint texture via resource packs, and it'll still work (see gallery). It will even work with items that are added by other mods, so long as they don't handle their own rendering.
Does it work with Sodium?
Yes! Despite Sodium changing a lot of the Minecraft rendering code, the mod should still work in such a way that Sodium's changes won't affect it (check compatibility in the specific version page before downloading). However the mod still changes rendering, so it might conflict with other mods that dramatically change rendering, such as shaders.

Apparently the build just worked with immediatelyfast and iris now no questions asked.

Full codebase rewrite including a much requested feature
Item filtering! Different settings on a per-item basis.
Hopefully the new codebase lets me get more updates out in the future.
Still working on adding Iris (ALSO works out of the box. get's that's what I get for assuming) and Immediately fast (update: immediately fast works out of the box) support, hense the pre release
