Echo Pickaxe
Stop leaving valuable ores behind! Echo Pickaxe is a highly customizable, vanilla-friendly mining utility. When you mine an ore, your pickaxe emits a glowing echo wave that briefly reveals hidden, diagonal, and adjacent ores of the same type in the dark.
Never miss a hidden diamond or leave Ancient Debris buried in the netherrack again. 💎🔥
Key Features
- Smart Echo Wave: Automatically detects and highlights matching ores nearby using a smooth glowing effect.
- Subtle Feedback: Emits a soft amethyst resonance sound and magical vanilla particles when new hidden ores are discovered. ✨
- Netherite Hunting: Works perfectly in the Nether, making the search for Ancient Debris much less frustrating.
Sonar Pulse (New in v1.1.0)
Can't find anything? Activate the Sonar Pulse (default key: V) to send out a wide-range scan that reveals every nearby ore at once — no need to break a single block. It even works without a pickaxe in hand!
The pulse consumes one Echo Shard per use (configurable), plays a warden sonic boom, and fires a sonic particle from your position. All revealed ores are sorted by distance from the player so the closest ones are always shown first. 🔊
Configure the sonar radius, vision duration, cooldown, and shard cost from the in-game settings screen.
Seamless Compatibility
The scanner is smart. It natively understands the difference between stone and deepslate, linking standard and deepslate ore variants together in the same echo wave without breaking immersion. 🪨🔗
It natively supports all Overworld and Nether ores out of the box. Playing with modpacks? No problem! It automatically supports modded ores using the standard forge/fabric ore tags. 🌍
Fully Customizable
Echo Pickaxe respects your playstyle and server balance. Everything is configurable via an intuitive in-game menu (requires Cloth Config and ModMenu). ⚙️
- Activation State: Set the mod to be always active, disabled, or only trigger when you are sneaking. Keep your screen clean when mining huge veins! 🤫
- Pickaxe Whitelist: Choose exactly which pickaxe tiers (Wood, Stone, Iron, Gold, Diamond, Netherite) are allowed to trigger the echo. 🪓
- Enchantment Requirements: Balance the mod for your survival world by requiring Fortune III, Efficiency V, or Silk Touch to use the echo wave. 📖✨
- Radius & Duration: Adjust how far the echo travels and how long the glow lasts.
- Ore Toggle: Enable or disable each ore type individually — coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, emerald, quartz, ancient debris, and gilded blackstone. ⛏️
- Sonar Settings: Configure sonar radius, vision duration, shard cost, and cooldown independently.

v1.1.0 — Sonar Pulse & Bug Fixes

- Sonar Pulse (press
V): Sends a wide-range scan that reveals all nearby enabled ores at once without breaking any block. Works without a pickaxe in hand.- Consumes one Echo Shard per use (configurable; free in Creative).
- Plays a Warden sonic boom + Sonic Boom particle on activation.
- Colored dust particles appear at each revealed ore position.
- All ores are revealed in order of distance from the player — no directional bias.
- NeoForge support: New dedicated builds for NeoForge MC26.1.0, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2.
- Per-ore toggle: Each ore type (coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, emerald, quartz, ancient debris, gilded blackstone) can be individually enabled or disabled from the config screen.
- Gilded Blackstone is now properly detected and echoed.
- Colored dust particles on echo wave — each ore emits its own distinct color.
🐛 Fixed
- Ore indicator brightness: The glowing block display entity now renders at full brightness, matching the original ore's appearance. Previously it appeared very dark or completely black.
- Sonar without pickaxe: The Sonar Pulse now triggers correctly regardless of what item is held in the main hand.
- Sonar directional bias: Ores were previously only revealed on one side due to the search loop hitting the reveal limit early. Now all candidates are collected first, sorted by distance, and then the closest ones are revealed up to the configured maximum.
