Dual Swords

Combat+

A Minecraft Fabric mod that adds dual wielding mechanics to the game.
This is a mechanical addition to Combat+, granting any Dual Weapon (such as swords) an offhand damage bonus.
Dual Swords also implements unique mechanics that grant use-actions to Dual Weapons: parrying attacks, or lunging at your opponent.

Enchantments

All enchantments added are of the Offhand category granted by Combat+. These enchantments are universally incompatible with any Damage Enchantment and most vanilla enchantments, such as Looting, Fire Aspect, Sweeping Edge, and Knockback.

Name Description Effect Per Level Max Level Incompatibilities
Parry Grants the weapon a use-action, allowing it to block attacks and counter. Block duration. 3 All lunge-type enchantments.
Riposte Increases the damage dealt from a parry's counterattack. More damage. 3 All lunge-type enchantments and Daisho.
Deflection Increases the return speed of deflected projetiles. Higher return speed. 3 All lunge-type enchantments.
Lunge Grants the weapon a use-action, allowing the user to dash forwards and damage a target. Higher velocity. 3 All parry-type enchantments.
Thrusting Increases lunge damage. More damage. 2 All parry-type enchantments and Daisho.
Forceful Grants increased knockback to lunges. More knockback. 2 All parry-type enchantments.
Daisho Grants increased damage when wielding two Dual Weapons. More damage. 5 Thrusting and Riposte.

Patch update to bring the mod into 1.21.10 and add a tiny config adjustment.

Minor update to bring the mod into 1.21.5

Changes

  • The offhand damage bonus is now dependent on item having a default combat-plus:melee_weapon component.
  • Parry and Lunge can obtain their damage from combat-plus:melee_weapon components if applicable.
  • Riposte and Deflection can no longer be put on items without Parry.
  • Thrusting and Forceful can no longer be put on items without Lunge.
  • Parry now grants a Blocks Attacks component to the item.

Removals

  • The following enchantment effects have been moved to Combat+ Core.
    • Set Cooldown
    • Max Use Time
    • Modify Cooldown

  • 1.21.4 messed with the angle that parry swords get held at, I have attempted to recreate the original visuals, but it is slightly different now.

Mod update to work on version 1.21.2 and 1.21.3.

Along with updating the mod, this update also addresses some existing issues with cooldowns.

Changes

  • Updated to 1.21.3 Minecraft.
  • Parry and Lunge now change the cooldown group of the enchanted item.
    • Parrying an attack will put all items with parry on cooldown and only those items.
    • Lunging works similarly, putting all Lunge weapons on cooldown.
    • Items without either of these enchantments are unaffected.
  • Parrying and attack will now apply the maximum cooldown, as if you had held the weapon out for too long.
  • Offhand damage no longer uses mixins and now makes use of Fabric API for improved compatibility.
