Data Loss Prevention & Migration

We've overhauled how chest data is managed to prevent accidental item deletion in two key scenarios:

• Robust Upgrade Migration: Upgrading a vanilla chest to a tiered chest now uses a sophisticated NBT migration check. If the mod fails to find its custom data structure, it will safely fall back to the vanilla item structure, ensuring no items are left behind during the transformation.
  • Overflow Protection: If you reduce the size of a chest, any "overflowing" items are safely dropped into the world instead of being deleted.

Double Chest Interaction Fixes

• Corrected Slot Ordering: Fixed a bug where hoppers were inserting items into the second half of a double chest before filling the first half. The LEFT half is now correctly prioritized as the start of the inventory.

Miscellaneous Fixes

• Diamond Upgrade Kit: Corrected the logic for the Diamond Upgrade Kit to ensure it correctly transforms Gold tier blocks.

We've implemented a sleek 3x3 grid for each mode. These use Ghost Slots, meaning you can click with an item to set a filter without actually losing the item from your inventory.

• Smart Uniqueness: The grid automatically ensures that each item type is only listed once, keeping your filters clean and organized.

Global Localization: 20 Languages!

We believe everyone should be able to enjoy Better Furnaces & Chests in their own language. Version 1.3.0 introduces full localization support for 20 languages, including:

• Major Regions: English (US/UK), Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and more.
• Dynamic Tooltips: Our Upgrade Kits now have tier-specific localized descriptions that update based on the kit you're holding.

Technical Polish & Bug Fixes

• Double Chest Sync: Fixed a persistent issue where item filters only applied to the primary half of a double chest.
• Packet-Based Ghost Slots: Implemented a new network payload (FilterSlotActionPayload) to ensure zero-latency filter updates between client and server.

The Architectural Shift: Server-Authoritative Configuration

In this version, we've fundamentally changed how configuration works to ensure a fair and consistent experience for all players in multiplayer environments.

Server-Side Authority

Gameplay-affecting settings such as chest capacity, furnace speed, and tool requirements are now managed exclusively by the server.

• What this means: When a player joins a server, the server transmits its configuration to the client. The client then enforces these values, preventing desync and potential exploits where clients could "cheat" by modifying their local configs.

New Config Location

To align with server-side standards, the configuration has been moved:

• Old Location: config/better-furnaces-and-chests.cfg
• New Location: serverconfig/better-furnaces-and-chests-server.cfg

New Furnace Features

We've added deeper customization for automation and balancing:

1. Items Consumed: You can now configure how many items are consumed per smelting operation. High-tier furnaces can be set to "batch smelt" for improved efficiency.
2. Output Multiplier: A new multiplier for smelting results. This allows for "ore doubling" or other custom balancing at higher tiers.
