Then you'll love Animated Nicknames Lite.

After having sold Animated Nicknames for a while, I've decided to make a free Lite version with less features. If you like it, consider buying the full version to also unlock the paid features.

Animated Nicknames is a plugin which adds style to your in-game name by adding nice animations both in the player list (tab) and above your head! Just look at this one:

Installation

No Tab Plugin

1. Download the Jar.
2. Put it inside the plugins folder in your server's directory.
3. Start (or restart) the server.
4. Verify that Animated Nicknames is enabled and functional
5. Read the How-To section below

Using TAB

1. Download the Jar and TAB.
2. Put them inside the plugins folder in your server's directory.
3. Start (or restart) the server.
4. Verify that both plugins are enabled and functional.
5. Read the How-To section below

Using Velocitab

1. Download the Jar, Velocitab, PlaceholderAPI and PAPIProxyBridge
2. Put Animated Nicknames inside the plugins folder in your servers's directory (not the proxy) along with PlaceholderAPI and PAPIProxyBridge.
3. Copy PAPIProxyBridge and paste it into your proxy's plugins folder.
4. Make sure you are using the latest version of Velocity.
5. Start (or restart) your servers and proxy.
6. Enable using-proxy-tab in Animated Nicknames' config.
7. Change the papi_cache_time in Velocitab's config to 150.
8. Start (or restart) your servers and proxy again.
9. Read the How-To section below.

How-To

1. Select an animation, colour and text decoration in the menu.
2. Go in the shadows menu and select a colour.
3. Enable your shadow.
4. Go back to the main menu.
5. Preview your animation and shadow to see if it fits your taste.
6. Enable your animation.
7. Enjoy the animation!

Note

This is a lite version, some buttons for some features are still present but will prompt you to buy the main plugin to unlock them.

Bug reports, feature requests and support is all handled at my Discord server.

Hey! Quick fix today. I overlooked something while porting the plugin to Paper and it broke the whole plugin.

Fixed player data trying to find "AnimatedNicknames" folder instead of "AnimatedNicknamesLite"

Switched from Spigot 1.21.8 to Paper 1.21.10
Completely swapped Legacy format for MiniMessage! Your players will have to re-select their colours (including custom!) and decorations. No worries, they will be told to do so if they try toggling their animation with legacy colours or decorations!
Filler items in menus now have hidden tooltips! Cool trick right?
Cute little "ding" sound when clicking a button in menus!
Fixed animations not resetting properly when a player disconnects and reconnects
Fixed some animations overlapping with others when switching animations dynamically
Fixed nametags not following the player after death when animation or shadow is enabled
Fixed issues related to disabling animations

Brand-new feature! Suggested by @Stella You can now have a shadow under your nickname! The button should be located in the bottom right of AN's main menu! You can toggle it so you don't have to enable your animation to have it, and it stays when your animation is on! Here are the new permissions associated with this feature:
- animatednicknames.shadows: Allows the user to have a shadow
- animatednicknames.shadows.pick-colour: Allows the user to pick a colour for their shadow
