Coal Creek Basin
A land ravaged by mankind. A mine abandoned for 50 years. Destroyed Ruins of a once thriving industry. And a beast that lurks between the trees.
This is Coal Creek Basin, the official map for the Antlers of Hunger mod and “Antlers of Hunger - The Experience” modpack.
There are 2 visually distinct versions for this map available, as signified by FROZEN and NON-SNOWY versions of the map in the files section. This map is a semi-linear experience intended to be played for added immersion in the Antlers of Hunger mod and due to extensive usage of modded features requires the “Antlers of Hunger - The Experience”modpack to operate correctly and is included in it.

This map is an immersive adventure set in the heart of Oregon, fitting you into the role of an employee sent out by a mining company seeking to restart the coal industry, with the mission of examining, repairing and documenting the remnants of Coal Creek Mining Corps to clear it for revival.
Your journey starts at a long road leading though the Oregon Wilderness, before you’re met with the entry to the mining area.
The road ahead is closed, logpiles still lay rotting in the rain, and the gate stands abandoned and pried open.
Further ahead lies a logging site, with unfinished housing and laying logs. You see signs pointing to different directions and decide to go further left.
Crossing the river you see another unfinished house, yet you decide to continue east.
The forest changes around you, yet eventually it gives away to the sight of a fallen behemoth: on the rocky coast lies a great Coal Refinement Facility, rusted and overgrown, with basins of blackened water and long dead machinery.
You decide to go back, continuing your journey to the West and are soon met with a Storage Warehouse standing between the pines.
Piles of logs and coal surround it, and a large iron cage remains rusting next to it.
Going further west, you see a complex of torn down Worker-housing on the rocky shore. It looks like each of the 3 cabins had been torn apart from outside, leaving planks and belonging thrown across the rocks.
Continuing deeper into the forest, the ruins of a large Quarry fade into view: a small hut at the edge of a flooded dugout basin, conveyor belts leading into the murky abyss and coal piles scattered around.
Despite the eerieness and bad condition of buildings, you still decide to go on.
Eventually you’re able to cross the Lake, and continue traveling through the north half of the map.
The woods get denser and the ruins become rarer.
Your path twists and turns until the woods, give away to a ravaged coast flooded by the lakewater.
In the distance you see something peeking out from behind the fog: the silhouette of a giant Coal Powerplant rises tall above the barren clearing.
Coal piles and worker barracks surround the forgotten structure and Mount Gordon remains a natural backdrop.
Deciding to close in and explore the abandoned powerplant, you soon come across tracks leading away and inside the mountain.
You follow them and soon end up infront of the opening of the Coal Mine, wide minecart tracks leading deep into the darkness.
Following the tracks and passing by countless boarded up mineshafts sprawling from the main path.
The cave starts widening until you find yourself in a dark chamber, the end of the tracks covered by caved in rubble.
And then you notice: Countless animal corpses laying torn apart, bitten in half and dismembered. This is no ordinary mine… These are fresh corpses…
You are standing in the lair of the beast…
This project was created specifically for the Antlers of Hunger mod and modpack and though being set in the same world as the 2021 film “Antlers” is still an original and independent story serving as a extension of the lore and world of the source material.
