Revamps fishing to make it more valuable and fun

Do you think fishing is boring and want more reward from doing it? Well, this datapack attempts to do this is a vanilla styled way.

The main goals with this datapack are:

  1. To smoothen out the how harsh it can be to get either amazing loot or garbage from fishing
  2. To make fishing feel more rewarding when you do get that amazing loot
  3. To make some previously non-renewable items renewable by letting you fish in more biomes to get particular items like red sand (badlands), spore blossoms and small dripleaf (lush caves) and tide armor trims (oceans).

  • also switched some things around in the loot tables, mostly with adding ore nuggets to the junk loot table and switching around a potion to the luck potion

Currently working on a large scale rework to the loot tables to better reflect the chances they really should be instead of just being based purely on vibes so expect that eventually! This will also come a new icon that I'm working on alongside this loot table rework.

Fixed an issue where implementing the datapack in 1.21.7 would cause the "this datapack was made for an older version" message. I've learned how to support multiple datapack versions so this should no longer be an issue in the future.

Completely revamps the vanilla fishing loot pools and adds a third loot pool tier called midtier to smoothen the drastic differences between the junk loot and treasure loot.

Junk Loot Pool (can be auto fished):

  • lily pad
  • leather boots
  • leather
  • rabbit hide
  • bone
  • water bottle
  • fishing rod
  • ink sac
  • tripwire hook
  • rotten flesh
  • sand
  • slime ball
  • nautilus shell (you get 4 now whenever you pull them up)
  • bamboo (in jungles)
  • small dripleaf (in lush cave)
  • sport blossom (in lush cave)
  • red sand (in badlands)

Midtier Loot Pool (needs open waters):

  • name tag
  • saddle
  • copper ingot
  • iron ingot
  • gold ingot
  • wet sponge
  • enchanted books (level 24)
  • turtle helmet (in beaches)

Treasure Loot Pool (needs open waters):

  • enchanted bow
  • enchanted fishing rod
  • swiftness potion
  • night vision potion
  • water breathing potion
  • heart of the sea
  • enchanted books (level 30)
  • trident (in any ocean or river, or dripstone caves)
  • tide armor trim (in any ocean)
