No Durability

This data pack makes items with durability unbreakable, and removes any damage done to them previously.

⚠ Do not use this data pack if you wish to have items with durability stored somewhere, as it will modify them if it triggers ⚠

It does this by adding an advancement triggered by a player's inventory changing, calling a function to modify items in the inventory to make them unbreakable (with the tooltip hidden). The datapack specifically checks for already unbreakable items, and does not modify them. This means that items with the "unbreakable" component shown in the tooltip will not lose the tooltip.

The item modification currently does not trigger when changing other inventories (such as chests), but would still modify open ones if triggered.

The datapack is now compatible with Minecraft version 1.21!

Don't use this version on a version before snapshot 24w21a, because it won't work. If you wish to use 1.20.5 or 1.20.6, get the previous version.

Version support

This version of the datapack supports Minecraft 1.21 (and 1.21.1), and most likely can also be used on any version as back as snapshot 24w21a.

Changes:

  • As already stated, this version has compatibility with Minecraft 1.21, which is awesome.
  • Added a pack icon, so selecting the datapack would be a little more fun.

The first version of the data pack.

Current features:

  • Adds the "Unbreakable" component to damageable items.
  • Removes the damage of already damaged items.
  • Multiplayer support (untested, but should work)

Known limitations:

  • The data pack doesn't modify items unless the player's inventory changes in some way. This means that moving items in chests will not do anything.
